Chapter Two Hundred-Forty-Seven – Her Effect
Cara gulped down nothing, staring at the drug. She picked up the small spoon, but Sorren handed the big spoon to her.
"If you don’t take enough, how can we tell the effects?"
Stefan sighed. Was she then fit to be affected!
But he didn’t revolt, because in all selfishness, he didn’t want his brother to get hurt again if they could prevent it by having a scapegoat.
Cara used the big spoon, she swallowed down hardly. Her grimace released. The medicine didn’t taste as bad as it looked. She nodded. "Safe."
But Sorren kept his eyes on her. She looked away, suddenly being conscious. Her cheeks heated up a bit when she realized the Alpha also stared intently at her.
Did she suddenly become more beautiful to them?
She moved back but their eyes followed her, she looked down, her face heating up furiously.
"Hmmm, they seem to be no effect, like deformation." Sorren hummed. "Is your reddish face a side effect of the medicine, Cara?"
Cara’s shoulders fell. So that’s why they’ve been staring? To see if she got deformed as a medicinal effect? Even the Alpha?
She bit her lower lips to suppress her disappointment. "No, I’m really fine."
Stefan exhaled. "Try it then."
Sorren picked up a small spoon.
"You told her to use the big spoon."
Sorren frowned at Cade who spoke. "Well, she didn’t wash it." He huffed, staring at the plate in disgust.
"Finish everything." Stefan said, making Sorren shudder.
Bracing himself, the Prince dropped the spoon and grabbed the plate, then poured everything into his mouth. It didn’t taste as bad. He touched his stomach.
"Do you feel something?" Stefan studied his expression.
Sorren lifted his shirt and Cara yelped.
Cade gently walked to her, then pushed her out of the study. She should stop embarrassing him.
There was a medium sized circular burn on his side. It looked reddish and still hurt a little if he strained, it made him incapable of walking or standing for long.
But right before their eyes, there was a small hissing sound of deflation. And Sorren winced as heat rose inside his body. He held unto his brother’s arm.
The heat escaped with the hissing sounds and the reddish spot grew while turning darker. Stefan would’ve panicked, if not Sorren seemed to be feeling relieved.
After everything, a bigger black patch was on his side, like a badly burnt mark, it looked sort of scaly too.
Sorren exhaled. "My healing is working, finally." He looked down at the mark and made no expression.
Cade took the empty tray and left the study.
Sorren laid back on the bed.
Stefan left his side and sat in front of his table, his eyes remained on his brother. "Are you sure you feel better?"
"I could dance."
"Then dance."
Sorren huffed, turning to his side and facing away from Stefan. The Alpha noticed he was laying on the side that had the burnt marks.
He smiled, it must be his way to show it didn’t hurt anymore. The older brother exhaled, looking at his table that always birthed notices.
He had to work on them before leaving for Rolling Stones.
Few minutes later, there was a knock on the door. He recognized his mate’s scent. "Come in."
Laurel walked in with Bebe in her hand. She turned to Sorren who laid down, and back at Stefan. "I’d like to ask that you take Bebe with you to Rolling Stones."
Bebe looked down, expecting an immediate rejection.
Stefan turned to Sorren who had refused the idea at first. "Is there any peculiar reason you want her to go?" he asked Laurel.
She let go of Bebe and nodded. "Those people had nothing to do with the witch. Bebe said her people do not have any affiliations with witches, whatsoever."
Stefan glanced at the girl. "So you want to go with us and tell them to stand down, thereby reducing the casualties?"
Bebe looked up on realizing the question was directed at her. "Yes, please! I want to try to convince them! I know—"
"Fine. You’re being noisy."
They paused, turning to Sorren.
Even Stefan had wondered why the girl suddenly raised her voice. "You’d be coming then. You’d have limited time to convince them, we don’t have forever."
Laurel placed her hand on the girl. "It’s up to you then. Excuse me." She left after that, much to Stefan’s dismay.
Bebe paused, stunned that it had been accepted like that. The Princess seemed to have a lot of effect on these two. Back then at High Moon Kingdom, it didn’t feel like there was a gap between them in hierarchy since she had a room while the Alpha stayed on the couch.
However, at Green Valleys, it seemed like their friendship ended and there’s a tension between them. She snapped from her thoughts and looked around the room.
Should she just stay here since the raid will be happening soon? Or should she leave and come back later?
She touched her head when it felt like drums were rolling on top of it. She had been having weird headaches of recent.
"Bebe, I’m feeling hot."
She became alert, quickly looking for the nearest flat object. Stefan watched her frantically search then grabbed one of his files and ran to Sorren, fanning him.
The Alpha didn’t know how to complain.
He finished settling the other notices and left his seat. "We’d be going to Rolling Stones Pack now."
Sorren left the bed.
"I was talking to Bebe." Stefan added. "Stay in bed."
"It’s be too hot if she’s gone anyway." Sorren replied.
Stefan furrowed his brows. What sort of excuse was that? He left it to prevent another two hours of arguing, and walked out of his study.
He searched for the Lead Warrior in his mind link.
He wasn’t close so he contacted a warrior who told him the preparations were ready, they could fall out. Stefan mind linked Sorren and they met him with the warriors.
Bebe’s steps slowed down as she stood before the warriors, lined up neatly with swords by their sides, swords created by the Rolling Stones’ people they planned to use it on. Her fists clenched. She had to convince the people.
"There should be no movement from you without my order. It’s a pack we want to conquer, not annihilate." The Alpha told the warriors who listened attentively.
When he turned back to Sorren, he noticed he was discussing with a warrior about finding a carriage for him.
Stefan quickly dismissed the warriors and ordered them to wait outside the pack. The pack wasn’t bustling with people now, so it’d be easier to move.
Also, he didn’t want the people panicking.
"Who rides a carriage to a raid?" He spoke behind Sorren.
"A tired person who wants to watch a fight." His younger brother said, watching the warrior run to ask about a carriage.
"You mean, an arrogant person who should be in bed."
Sorren’s shoulders fell when the warrior returned with news that they were no available carriages.
The Alpha smirked, walking towards the pack’s exit. "Walk, Sorren, walk."
