Chapter 240: Head Guard

Chapter Two Hundred-Forty – Head Guard

Laurel felt her hands shivering. The Grand Witch was the Alpha of Rolling Stones’ Pack?

Doesn’t that mean she had met the Grand Witch before?

"For a Grand Witch, her presence wasn’t intimidating... I guess." Laurel swallowed down nothing. Her head was swelling up.

So if that Grand Witch attacked the lycans at High Mountains as revenge for the death of her entourage, and she got killed by Stefan... did she really get killed?

Laurel remembered that Stefan didn’t seem very sure of her death and the wind that blew her body away was also suspicious. That would mean she wasn’t dead.

This lady that Darren wanted to find, Damancas would want to protect, Zeldris and Ella will be happy to see alive, was now wanted by the lycans of Black Claws.

If Stefan meets her again, he’d want to kill her.

"So what was her fate?" Zeldris asked the Princess. "She should easily kill them if she wanted to, but I guess she didn’t for some reasons. Many her powers are locked?"

That’s another thing that worried Laurel. If she was such a powerful witch, then her mate and Sorren shouldn’t have survived. What else was in play?

"All the Alpha said was that Sorren shot her in the head, but it seemed it didn’t kill her as the wind took her body."

Darren exhaled. "She’s not dead then. Since Stefan has lost sight of her, we can take her back to Damancas. There’s no need to fight the lycans here."

Laurel’s body tensed up. The lycans here? Then was she to fight the lycans at High Moon Kingdom?

Zeldris returned to his seat. "That’s fine! After what you said about the King of lycans plans, it’s like a miracle that we have another Grand Witch by our side!"

Princess Laurel forced a smile as Zeldris cheered. To her, this Grand Witch was more bad news than good. After all, her goal was to destroy all lycans.

Her mate inclusive.

"About what’s growing in Sorren," Laurel changed the topic, "what can we do about it, Sir Darren?"

Zeldris frowned, hoping on Sir Darren to refuse to help the lycan Prince, but Darren left his seat, pacing about.

"Sorren’s death will make the Alpha target The Grand witch more as he knows she’s still alive."

Laurel agreed. If Sorren got better, Stefan could overlook the witch since he didn’t see a reason for her to attack in the first place.

If Sorren died, it’d be different and his older brother could have a general hatred for witches, affecting any future relationship with Damancas.

Sir Darren nodded on remembering something. "Just treat him normally. I’d send treatment. I will use Jessika so you don’t have to worry. Beta Cade knows that I know her."

Laurel left her seat, feeling relieved. She knew she could trust Sir Darren’s method. She pulled Zeldris up when she saw his grumpy look.

"Thank you, Sir Darren. We owe you one."

Darren tilted his head. "Jessika did say that Sorren was bearable towards you, but it seems you actually find him bearable."

Zeldris glanced at the Princess guiltily, but Laurel only smiled. "Life in prison was bearable because of him and you. He helped me get out because we both have titles."

Darren chuckled. He could always guess that that Prince was complicated yet so simple. Like sending him prank messages, like a kid.

"In that case, as he helped you in ways I couldn’t, I might owe him a bit too." Darren smiled, then made a small bow and walked out to send a letter to Damancas.

Zeldris folded his arms.

"I didn’t know the Prince had been helpful to you, but it doesn’t still change what I think of him—"

Laurel rubbed his head. "You don’t even know him enough to have thoughts about him, you know."

Her hands on his head made Zeldris’s cheeks redden. "I-I get it, he’s a good looking Prince who is reckless enough to go fight witches by himself."

Laurel nodded. Sorren definitely made for himself a bad first impression with her Knight. Even she couldn’t guess why he went out there.

Maybe his mom-mode after Sigma got attacked.

They returned to their pack but the Black Claws’ Warriors blocked them as they crossed the border.

Laurel frowned, glaring at them. The warriors of Green Valleys’ tried coming close but were blocked too.

"Are you guys mad now—" Laurel noticed that she hadn’t seen these ones before. The head of the guards peered into her eyes. Laurel balled her fists.

Zeldris came in front of them. "Will you explain yourself? This is the Princess of Green Valleys."

The head guard leaned back, clutching his sword. "So she’s really still alive? And she doesn’t look like a Princess one bit—" another warrior covered his mouth.

Laurel moved forward, her fists still clenched. "I don’t think you’ve been taught what happens to creatures that don’t know their place?"

The head guard shoved the warrior’s who held his mouth aside. He held out his sword but left it in its scabbard. "I know my place. I am a proud head guard of Black Claws and I want to defend my pack from you, an enemy."

Laurel sensed he was a lycan, which made things even funnier. It was always lycans not knowing their place.

And his pack? He was standing in front of Green Valleys while sprouting nonsense. He really needed taming. She signaled for the others to back away.

She lunged forward, without her fists or anything but the head guard quickly drew out his sword.

Laurel moved aside, just in time for Zeldris’s leg to descend on the head guard’s head, striking the middle with tremendous force that it sent the man to the ground.

Laurel quickly caught his sword that his head would’ve stabbed in. The other Black Claws warriors backed away, staring at Zeldris’s leg that he calmly placed down.

Laurel pointed the sword at them. "I wanted to add, this is my knight, Zeldris. Next time, let him pass here, okay?"

They nodded in unison.

She threw the head guard’s sword to the ground and strolled in. Her warriors bowed at her and she nodded in reply.
