Chapter 239: Blood In His Hands

Chapter Two Hundred-Thirty-Nine – Blood in his Hands.

(Silent River Pack)

The King of Lycans must’ve gotten a new obsession with witches, and he was now preying on Silent River.

Darren held the whip in his hand tightly. The lycan he had sent this time was a lanky boy that Darren could tell hadn’t reached full adulthood.

Even if he didn’t want to kill a kid, he’d have to silence this one so that they’d be less people for the King to use.

It was because he used a low magic imbued weapon to silence Slime, that his memory came back after a while.

That’s the only reason the King will send this one, looking for a little girl specifically.

Darren tried not to imagine the crude things that King will experiment on Ella’s body, just because she had magic.

"Do you know what your King will do to my daughter, young man?" Darren pulled the boy’s wounded face up.

Drool and blood slid down the boy’s lips, his eyes were uncoordinated. "I-I only came... as requested. I—"

Darren raised his whip up and the boy stayed quiet, sobbing silently. Darren sighed, walking back.

Also, unlike Slime, the King didn’t bother fill this one in on why he needed the little witch girl.

No matter how much he tried to beat answers out of him, he only said he did as he was told to do.

It wasn’t fun for Darren to torture a kid who didn’t want to let go, or might not have the information he needed.

"What’s your name?" He asked, even if he’d try to forget after killing the boy. "And what led you to serve the King?"

"Amber." The boy coughed out blood. "M-My team and friends were killed by a bred lycan with magic powers." He sniffed. "I was saved by the King. He only wanted to know about the girl, since she’s a witch."

Darren stared at the boy. There was no need for the boy to make up such a pathetic story. Slime’s last information to him was about the bred lycans.

If the King had gone exploring them and raised warriors from the victims, then the fight will drag out more. He’d keep using victims, till he got what he wanted.

"And by then, I’d have the innocent blood of many." Darren shifted his eyes to his blood stained palm. "Amber, I’m sorry, but I don’t see any reason not to kill you."

The boy can’t be sent back or he’d reveal the message Zeldris just told him now. Also, he’d be another witness to Ella’s existence, and the King could tell Black Claws.

Darren could cover up with Ella was a friend’s child but with the new realizations, things might not be that easy.

"What would the King have done to the girl?"

Darren looked up when the boy asked, he dropped his whip. "What I did to you, but with more indifference, drugs, pain. The King experiments on witches and werewolves."

The boy’s eyes expanded a bit, then he muttered. "So that’s what goes on in that lab. I should’ve told Sam."

Darren sighed, reaching for his sword. "It ends here, Amber. Don’t worry, I’d bury you well. Maybe in your next life, you’d live longer and happily with your friends."

A small smile came to the boy’s face, he nodded gently.

Darren swung the sword over his head quickly, making sure to be painless. The boy’s head fell and his body became loose on the chains on the wall.

Darren exhaled, and quickly packaged the body. He might do a little burial ceremony for the boy too later. For now, he needed to know what Zeldris’s message meant.

Meanwhile Laurel had gotten over the torture room, Silent River had always been the darker one amongst the three packs. Coupled with their history of being Lycan hunters.

She sat erect when Sir Darren walked into the room with a slightly sullen expression. Laurel smiled a bit.

Even if it was necessary to kill the spy, she was glad it still affected him to kill someone, lycan or not.

"Princess Laurel, sorry for the poor welcome." Sir Darren plopped down on a seat, and heaved a deep sigh.

Zeldris left where he sat. "Did you get any information?"

Darren shook his head. "It doesn’t matter now."

Zeldris nodded and turned to the Laurel. "Princess, I think the witches that attacked High Mountains had a purpose."

Laurel adjusted herself on the seat, feeling uncomfortable already. What purpose would the witches have against the lycans at High Mountains that they’ve never met before?

"Three years ago, the accident that took almost all the witches’ lives, they were heat and wind magic user’s amongst us." Zeldris said. "And they survived."

Laurel’s eyes widened. So that’s what it was about? So those witches were the ones who became assassins now?

Darren hummed, rubbing his jaw. "So, they came back for revenge after three years. Why wait such a long time?"

"Because they were under a spell."

Laurel and Darren moped at Zeldris.

The knight kept his hands on his waist. "Three years spell, possibly to get over the sorrow of everyone dying. I don’t know the details but three years after, my mother’s magic died off, three years later, they’re attacking. I think it’s all related."

Laurel didn’t know the basics of magic so couldn’t argue, but if those witches were fighting lycans because of the attack they suffered, then they’d be so much pain in them.

Zeldris turned to the Princess. "To be more exact, on the day Bebe was kidnapped, that’s when my mother’s magic faded, right?"

Darren nodded, remembering them visiting that day.

"What else happened that day?"

Laurel looked up. "After Bebe and that Alpha, then your eyes, nothing else happened." She tilted her head.

Zeldris sighed. "The Alpha happened. She suddenly said she wanted to kill lycans, right? Wasn’t she allies with them before?"

Laurel did find it weird. "Is there a reason?"

"The spell." Zeldris emphasized. "Exactly three years later, the spell faded and she realized who she is. She is the only one who could control heat and wind magic to create parasitic magic too."

Laurel’s eyes widened. "You mean..."

Darren nodded. "That Alpha of Rolling Stones is the Grand Witch and Ella’s mother. She has awakened."

Laurel felt her hands shivering.
