Chapter 238: He Forgot
Chapter Two Hundred-Thirty-Eight – He Forgot
Laurel didn’t think of that problem till now.
How’d she get Stefan to understand that Zeldris wasn’t a witch but knew things about magic and wanted to help?
Wouldn’t the older brother further panic if Zeldris did something painful to Sorren? Sorren would even act like his life was leaving him, making things worse.
Zeldris noticed the Princess now hesitated to take him to the palace. "I can really help him... not that I want to but..." he assumed the Princess hesitated because she didn’t trust his capabilities. "We can ask Darren then."
Laurel noticed his sad expression, she sighed. "Forget it. You even said it’s not a sure fire way to save Sorren. If after the Sorren, it doesn’t work, they could kill you."
Zeldris froze, that possibility scaring him.
A maid rushed into the hall. "Princess, Jessika said to inform you that she had sent the tonic soup to the palace and its quiet so the matter must have been settled."
Laurel noticed the confused tone the maid spoke in, as she didn’t know what matter was being settled.
"Thank you." Laurel replied and the maid left.
Zeldris huffed. "See how Jessika quickly made the soup for him, but when I needed the healing for my eyes, she said it’d take a while."
Laurel smiled. Healing tonics did take a while. Jessika must’ve put her all into making the one for Sorren under short notice.
"And this Prince you all keep worrying for, he might turn out not to be all that." Zeldris added, seating on the stairs.
Laurel stared at him for a while, before closing her eyes to rest. "When he returns to High Mountains, I’d like us to follow him so we can find your cousin sister."
Her knight turned to her, with concentration.
"So start by telling me about this sister, like hair color, special looks, what can we use to make her come out? It’s been a while you saw her, right?"
Zeldris nodded, having the image of a young girl with long hair and grumpy look staring at him curiously. "She has black long hair. That’s all that will remain constant till now."
Laurel nodded. It should be more than ten years so the girl was bound to some major changes.
"Name?"
"I don’t know."
Laurel opened her eyes to look at him but he looked away with a guilty expression. "You forgot, didn’t you?"
Finding the girl might mean sifting through the young ladies in High Mountains and asking if they recognized the name called Zeldris.
Then Laurel remembered, that wasn’t even his name. His name was related to magic.
"Zeldris, do all witches give their children magic related names?" She saw him shake his head. She could’ve guess that much since ’Ella’ was a normal name.
"The witch that attacked Sorren, I think she might be able to use wind magic." She glanced at Zeldris.
Zeldris hummed, turning to her. "Those aren’t common back at Damancas. And wind magic worked hand in hand with heat magic or it wouldn’t be lethal enough."
Laurel sat up. "And didn’t you say that Sigma burns were caused by heat magic? Then those two were really working together."
Zeldris paused, before leaving the ground. "You are right. Heat magic is a really powerful magic. Why were they working as assassins for an Alpha?"
Laurel smirked. "Something even stranger, is that the Alpha was a witch herself and the one who harmed Sorren."
Zeldris snapped his head to the Princess and took steps backwards. Laurel’s smirk fell. Why did he look scared? "W-We need to tell Darren before something goes wrong!"
What would go wrong? Laurel dragged herself off her seat and followed Zeldris who ran out. She had been frequenting Darren’s pack more often than she’d like.
Worse was, it wasn’t for matters concerning her pack but things concerning magic which shouldn’t concern her.
"Still magic might be the only thing that can tame that King of Lycans. Look what it did to Sigma and Sorren."
The power gotten from exchanging one’s wolf, it did sound worth it if it gave a mere werewolf the ability to overpower powerful lycans.
"Again, your thoughts scare me." Elma confessed.
Laurel chuckled lowly. "There’s no way I’d exchange you for that. Also, I plan to tame lycans in my own way."
She looked ahead and frowned on seeing the warriors prohibiting Zeldris from passing. "Hey! That’s my knight!"
The warriors moved aside immediately and Zeldris sprinted out. They lowered their heads as Laurel came close but she ignored them and walked out.
Crossing the Silent River border, she found Finn frowning and she could guess why. "Thank you." She said, since it must’ve been hard for him to let Zeldris in again.
The young boy looked away with flushed cheeks. "Sure."
Small pants left Laurel as she walked into Sir Darren’s house, there was no sound to be heard and she became conscious.
"Sir Darren—" she jumped back.
There was a small pool of blood underneath the table where Sir Darren usually had his cup of tea. She followed the small trail to the back of the building.
She found Zeldris and Sir Darren in a small room.
"Princess Laurel, kindly don’t come in here. It wouldn’t be good for you." Sir Darren’s voice came like a warning.
Laurel stood outside the room, catching a small glimpse of inside. They were weapons inside and it reeked of pain and blood. She knew what it was. A torture room.
"It happens that the King of Lycans sent me another lycan. This one wouldn’t be returning to him."
Laurel held her skirt as she heard that. She could already smell the fresh blood seeping out from whoever. There was no need to stop Darren. That King never learnt and kept sending out sacrifices.
Laurel heard a whip lash and winced before the scream came. Zeldris left the room and led her out of the place.
"Did the person hurt anyone in the pack?" She asked.
Zeldris shook his head. "The person came as a messenger, but recognized Ella and asked if she was the witch his senior spoke about. So he’s dying."
Laurel noticed the dead tone Zeldris had said that with. He’d also want to protect Ella too. She looked down. Why couldn’t that King just leave witches alone?
