Chapter 237: Panicking

Chapter Two Hundred-Thirty-Seven – Panicking

Laurel rushed back to Stefan, holding the bowl of water the Warriors had brought for Sorren’s hot body.

She paused, after dropping the bowl on Stefan’s table

Why did she even do this? Sorren’s health shouldn’t be her problem and there was no way he’d die.

His body came in contact with magic so reacted strangely, that’s all. Stefan only panicked because he didn’t know how else to react.

Laurel nodded at these words as she turned to walk away. Another warrior ran into the Alpha’s study with neat towels. Laurel paused, watching them.

There was a no way Sorren would die.

But maybe she should tell Jessika to hurry up with that healing tonic soup. That might just be what that lycan needed. She noticed few warriors in the palace.

Had all of them been summoned by Stefan to help calm Sorren’s body down? Laurel stared at the ground.

Even when they needed medicine, it seemed Sorren was the only one who could get help in such situations. And his herbal mixtures were naturally made by him from his farm.

There’d be no one to help him now that he was like this.

"Princess Laurel?"

Laurel looked up at General Conrad, she faked a smile. "Long time no see, General. You really avoided me and Matt after our last discussion."

The General frowned a little, then looked away. "I knew Matt will be okay. Is there a reason you’re here—"

"You lycans keep asking me that question." Laurel sighed, remembering how Cade had asked her before. "This place used to belong to me. And I’m not killing anyone here."

There was no need to speak to the General since he wouldn’t accept training her warriors so she passed him. "Oh, and everyone is panicking because Prince Sorren was attacked by magic." She noticed the General’s shocked expression. "Yes, so if you can help, do help."

She left his presence. Outside was still calm because the guards hadn’t yet realized that Sorren was in a predicament. Even Dylan would be busy with Sigma.

"Seriously, this Rolling Stones Alpha was able to strike two lycans down, three if you add how distraught Stefan will be if anything happened to his brother."

The Alpha wasn’t mincing words when she said she was ready. If she had some kind of way to avoid dying even if an arrow was shot in her head, then she’d be back soon.

"Jessika!" Laurel called the moment she reached Valkyrie’s quarters. The cook came out of Valkyrie’s quarters, together with Lisa, Zeldris and Valkyrie.

Seeing half of the officials around, Laurel quickly summarized what was happening at the palace.

"So, Jessika, so we’d do our part, send Sorren the healing tonic soup. If it helps him, so be it."

The cook nodded and gallantly hurried out of the quarters towards Lisa’s home. Lisa followed her, muttering prayers.

Zeldris noticed and frowned. "Wouldn’t it be good if that lycan dies? One down, more to go, right?"

Valkyrie frowned a bit. "Prince Sorren had been useful to us sometimes. He’s not very overbearing like the rest. Also, he’s half lycan."

At that point, Escanor was walking out of his room. "Half Lycan?" he turned to Valkyrie. "Who?"

Valkyrie gave him a rundown of what was happening. Laurel leaned on the wall, thinking of Sorren’s chances.

What if a surplus amount of magic had been forced into his body? Like how it had a bad reaction in Zeldris?

"I didn’t know the Alpha of this place tolerated hybrids. Many Lycans do not." Escanor appeared in front of Laurel as he said.

Laurel forced a smile. "They do. Intermarriage between werewolves and lycans happen at their Kingdom a lot."

Escanor’s eyes sparkled and he smiled. He always thought that only his lycan relatives could be accepting of hybrids like him.

Many werewolves in Damancas weren’t so accepting so he had to be shielded at home by his mother.

If the lycans of Black Claws, no, their whole people do not look at hybrids wrongly, then he wanted to believe that they were good people. People who do not judge others at face or race value are good people.

Escanor faced Zeldris. They had to be a way to save this hybrid Prince. He grew up in the werewolves’ part of Damancas, but Zeldris grew up at the witches’ part.

"Do you really not know how to save him?"

Zeldris turned away from the red-haired. "Why will I want to save him even if I know? Aren’t they all lycans?"

Escanor frowned. "I don’t think this hybrid or any lycan here at Black Claws had offended you in any way."

Zeldris gritted his teeth, stepping away from him as his fists clenched. "What do you know? Have Lycans killed your family members and friends before!"

His outburst made Escanor step back. Laurel placed a hand on his shoulder to stop him from offending Zeldris further.

She understood where Zeldris was coming from.

Lycans took everything from him and left him with nothing as some point in his life. Laurel related to that too.

She was no forgiving saint who’d tell him to let go of everything and help, but Escanor also had a point.

Sorren had nothing to do with what happened to him, neither did any lycan at Black Claws.

"Zeldris," she called his name gently, "do you have any idea how to help Sorren? I told you I was close to him, right? I’d like you to save his life."

Zeldris paused, then looked down, not saying anything.

Valkyrie sighed. If Prince Sorren died, things will definitely get difficult for Green Valleys one way or the other.

"I have an idea. It’s probably a parasitic magic that was stuck on him, maybe wind like and fire like." Zeldris mouthed. "We have to get it out. It’s painful though."

Laurel had been feeling hopeful when he mentioned wind, because Stefan said wind magic had been in play.

But getting to the painful part, made her lose hope again. That Princess Sorren, will he survive the pain?
