Chapter 235: I Dare You

Chapter Two Hundred-Thirty-Five – I Dare You

The injury at his side still grew and Sorren slightly panicked. If its growth was due to magic, then there’d be nothing he could do to stop the damage.

He already killed the wind user who attacked him but her magic still lived, sucking the air in his body and enlarging itself.

It was painful, and Sorren wasn’t fond of pain.

His eyes went to the crushed arrow the Alpha threw on the ground. He needed something to close the injury with. Anything.

"Your mother might’ve felt the same towards me though." The Rolling Stones’ Alpha took more steps towards him. "She might’ve hated me too."

Her discussion was the least of Sorren’s problems, but he responded so she’d not get bored and think of attacking him in his vulnerable position.

"I wonder what brought my mother, a young runaway back at Jappongi looking to snag a powerful husband, and you, an official at a werewolf pack." Sorren frowned.

If their relationship was anything as ridiculous as friends, and that’s the reason she kept him alive while trying to convince him to work with her and eliminate lycans...

Then she would be making no headway today.

But she had made it quite clear that she and his mother were anything but friends, so Sorren didn’t want to care anymore.

"You didn’t know, did you?"

Sorren shook his head, his eyes staying on her sword hilt. He entertained the thought of stabbing the hilt at his injury, to cover it up from growing by taking more air.

"You had no idea, did you? Did you know of your mother’s family? The Alpha’s family?"

Sorren exhaled, but in tiredness and boredom. "My mother did say her father was an Alpha. What about it?"

Where was the conversation going to? He didn’t want to know. The burning sensation by his side was enough to make him pass out but he struggled to stay conscious.

"Are you in pain?"

Sorren’s eyes became alert. If she noticed, would she attack? Looking up at her eyes and the glint shining in them, he got his answer. She would attack.

As he guessed, but prayed not, the only reason she engaged him in idle chatter was to keep his attention. Not because she didn’t want to kill him.

She must’ve known about the growing nuisance in him and wanted to reduce him to an easy opponent as she didn’t know her chances if she fought directly.

His fingers gripped the arrow launcher as her hand moved towards her sword. His arm was too heavy to point at her.

He felt his wolf come to the surface but he kept him back, the woman wasn’t worth the effort, there was no need. That wolf was only a last resort, for many reasons.

"If you are in pain, why not let me help you relieve it!"

When she shouted ’relieve it’, Sorren felt his pain grow higher. There’s no way it reacted to her voice.

"Unless..." His wolf pushed strength into his hand and he shot an arrow towards the Alpha. It was a good shot, so she had to make the effort to dodge it.

Sorren took the distraction to change position. He moved towards his horse, sure that she wouldn’t be able to match a lycan’s speed.

"Ah!" He stumbled but held unto a tree. He breathed in and out. Pain wasn’t a friend of his, at all. And that Alpha... he confirmed that she was the cause of this pain.

There’s no way the wind user who attacked him would die and her magic would still be alive, unless the wind user wasn’t the one who attacked him.

So it meant... that Alpha was a witch!

It’d also make sense why she’s after lycans for no reason, witches need no reason to come after lycans and lycans need no reason to want to kill them.

At least, that’s how it usually goes.

He heard her footsteps, but didn’t bother to move. He knew he wouldn’t be able to go far enough.

"I’ve been under a small werewolf pack for a while now, overseeing things." The Alpha stood in front of Sorren and showed him something in her hand.

Immediately, the arrow launcher pointed at her face and she jumped back. Sorren clicked his tongue. So she was a talented witch. She could create balls of fire in her palm.

"You really just want to rattle your mouth, right? If you want to attempt killing me, then try your luck!"

She scoffed, clenching her fist and extinguishing the balls of fire. "Proud just like your mother! Attempt killing you? Try my luck? What if I really kill you?"

"I dare you."

A shiver ran down the Alpha’s spine, but she masked it with another scoff as she turned back. "Alpha Stefan, have you finished with my little girls?"

She grimaced seeing his bloody hands. "So you—"

Stefan was stunned, before accepting it. An arrow stuck out of the Alpha’s head, shot out from Sorren’s arrow launcher. "I have a feeling it wouldn’t kill her."

The Alpha’s eye balls shifted to the arrow stuck in the middle of her eyes, then she fell to the ground eyes open.

"Brother, finish her up—" Sorren was pulled out of the tree he leaned on. Before he could finish, he was pulled into his brother’s arms in a hug, but he stubbornly broke out.

"Kill her!"

"Sorren, you scared me!!"

"Finish her up first, before scolding me!!"

Stefan ran his hand through his hair, balling his fists. "What crazy thought made you venture into the forest all alone with nothing but two warriors?!!"

"Are you listening to me!"

"And now, you’re bleeding everywhere, my heart is racing and we killed five ladies who want to kill us for no reason! You keep chasing after violence!"

"Are you listening to me?" Sorren rubbed his head.

"Then, later, you’d be sprawled on the bed, acting like you’d die! What if you died! What if she killed you!"

"Are you..." Sorren didn’t bother finish up. He touched his side that had stopped burning, but it wasn’t healing and it made his older brother think he’d actually drop dead.

Sorren held his ears that were now vibrating from his brother’s shouts. Death might’ve been better than this.
