Chapter 234: Damsel in Distress
Chapter Two Hundred-Thirty-Four – Damsel in Distress
Stefan snapped his head to who pulled him down, but his breathing hitched. "Sorren, are you ok—" No, there was no time for that. There was no way he was okay.
Sorren held his side that bled quickly. It was a small wound but it seemed to be growing, and he couldn’t place why yet.
"Since you are here, can I play damsel in distress?"
Stefan frowned slightly. "What’s the witch like?"
"Witches. I realized that they were four wind users. That’s why changes in wind temperature happen." He raised his arrow launcher. "Two are dead. The last two are..."
He coughed out blood, then paused, and glanced at Stefan who had a horrid expression. "Yes, yes, scold me plenty later, but I’d not be moving for a while."
Stefan left the ground. He knew not even his brother would anticipate five witches to be in the forest, yet for some reason, he didn’t expect him getting injured.
Sorren would’ve done everything possible not to get an injury that’d turn to a scar. If he couldn’t avoid that, it meant the witches were really strong.
"Dance carefully. One of them have a whip."
Stefan nodded, then moved to an opposite direction so he’d be followed and they’d take their attention from Sorren. "I should’ve told him to find a way out."
There was a sigh and Stefan paused.
"You lycans keep swarming in here like flies."
Stefan turned, sensing her aura as an Alpha’s. "Are you the Rolling Stones’ Alpha?" He asked the lady seated under a tree, peacefully plucking petals from a flower.
"I am." She looked up, her expression being tired.
Stefan listened for any wind acting up but everywhere seemed calm. He advanced close to her but not close enough for her to become defensive.
"You have some guts sending witches after my pack members when they did nothing to you."
She shrugged. "That’s your own point of view. I’ve been wronged by lycans and so have those witches. Just die, okay? All this struggle is futile."
How could she say that while sitting in front of him with no weapon of any sort? Stefan turned from there when he heard a wind trailing its way towards him.
There was no need to confront the Alpha who was no threat, while those witches roamed free.
Using magic that can hide within the forest, like the wind, will be hard to figure out.
He peaked his senses while still trying to be actively sensing Sorren’s energy and that Alpha’s. She hadn’t move position and neither has Sorren.
Sighting one of the witches, Stefan exhaled. At least, that one would be gone. It’s easier once they’re found because they could never run off again.
The witch’s eyes darted about, looking for her target, then she froze, and pulled her eyes down to her stomach where a veiny hand popped out of it.
She wanted to make a last attack but her gullet was pulled off immediately. Her eyes rolled back as life left her. Stefan pulled his two bloody hands back in disgust.
He remembered the weapon he had seen in Sorren’s hands, he should’ve taken it before leaving.
"On second thoughts, he needed something to defend himself with, if that Alpha made a move on—"
Stefan paused.
That Alpha had moved position! She was walking towards Sorren! He tried to rush back but a strong wind began to blow within the trees.
His last enemy was ahead and wouldn’t be letting him go.
He cursed. Sorren hadn’t moved yet.
While the heavy wind blew, Stefan timely heard the sound of whip slashing the air. He held the whip in time before it descended on him. He pulled it back but she held it firmly.
A strong girl, and worse, something was encircling the whip and moving towards where he held it.
The Alpha let go of it and dodged its next descent. This will take some time.
The strong wind was a defense barrier to make him not to come closer. While she’d be attacking with the whip. It’d really take some time.
His younger brother will have to hold on for him.
Meanwhile, Sorren sighed as he felt someone walk to him. The person didn’t feel dangerous at the moment but he pointed his arrow launcher at the direction they came from.
"Oh my, that’s a lot of blood."
Sorren raised a brow when it was a young lady with scanty dressing, like the others. Her expression was straight, apart from her eyebrows raised.
"Don’t act like it wasn’t by you." Sorren glared at her.
She lowered her head, her lips curved to a smirk and stared down at him. Her eyes sparking devilishly.
"Shouldn’t you thank me then? They’d have killed you if I hadn’t immobilize you."
Sorren hadn’t yet figured out why she’d even bother. He pointed the arrow launcher at her sides and shot it.
She didn’t notice on time to dodge. She jumped back, being defensive. The smirk had left her face and her face was neutral again. "So you’re the ungrateful type?"
"Not really." Sorren dropped the arrow launcher on the ground. "But I’m quite vengeful. Now, we’re even."
The Alpha huffed, walking closer again.
"I am the Alpha of Rolling Stones. Do you know why I haven’t killed you yet?"
"Hostage. Want me to spill secrets. I’m attractive so you want to keep me. Or it’s something I don’t know and might not want to know." Sorren forced himself to stand.
The Alpha didn’t seem alarmed, she patted the side he had shot at. "I used to be good friends with your mother, back at Jappongi as a normal person."
Normal person? Sorren stared at her in amusement. Why did she refer to her time before as a normal person? Was being an Alpha so abnormal?
"My mother knew a lot of people, anytime I visit Jappongi, I get told similar stories." He faced her. "So what’s your own beautiful relationship with her?"
The Alpha pulled out the arrow from her stomach, and crushed it in her hands. "Beautiful relationship? No, I hated her. We weren’t friends, at all."
Sorren smirked. "As I thought."
