Chapter 233: Reckless Brother

Chapter Two Hundred-Thirty-Three – Reckless Brother

Stefan paced in front of Sorren’s room, waiting for him to come out. Was he still plotting a thousand ways to deal with the witches that hurt Sigma?

He sighed, walking back outside.

"Alpha!" a warrior ran into Sorren’s quarters and bowed. "Some warriors said they heard a loud explosion in the forest Prince Sorren went into!"

Stefan rose to his feet? Which Prince Sorren? Loud explosion at the forest? The older brother rushed inside and slammed Sorren’s room door open.

That creature wasn’t inside! What was he doing!

"I’ve prepared a horse—" but the warrior was ignored as Stefan sped out of High Mountains towards the forest.

It hadn’t been a week that he thanked his stars that he still had one living family member to be grateful for and now, Sorren ventured into a forest ambushed by witches?

Why did he try to do his older brother’s job? Wasn’t he the smart one? Couldn’t he tell that it’d be hard for him?

Stefan reached the forest and tried to follow the smell of burning wood but there was none. He looked down and saw some rough horse marks.

They trailed deeper into the forest but he followed. It stopped under a big tree and dispersed, it seemed one didn’t move but it didn’t move anywhere else.

"Ahhhh!"

Stefan snapped his head to the other side and ran after the scream. He found a warrior underneath a horse, an already dead horse that had a broken neck.

How did it get on top of him and how could it break his neck? Stefan pushed the horse down and stretched a hand to the warrior. "Where’s my younger brother?"

The warrior rubbed his shoulders. "The Prince waited while we checked, but," he looked at the horse with a broken neck, "his horse came flying from nowhere and landed on me. I don’t know his exact location—"

There was an explosion, one that shook the earth they stood and the trees danced to a force of wind.

Stefan felt it was unnatural for the air around them to be getting hotter. He looked at the warriors who had stopped himself from breathing.

Soon the air wouldn’t become breathable? Stefan frowned. He needed to find Sorren.

How was that nonviolent younger brother of his going to solve this without being violent?

"I’d find him. You go back and don’t raise an alarm. I don’t want anyone coming in here, got it?"

The warrior nodded, then added. "Alpha, I think they’re only two witches in here now. What if reinforcements come, shouldn’t we kept warriors close—"

Alpha nodded at his reasoning. He’s an old warrior so he had good experience. "Yes, gather warriors to stay at the entrance but don’t come in till I say so. No matter what."

Stefan watched the warrior leave through a safe path out of the forest before he followed the sound of that explosion to find his younger brother.

He had to be careful too. His brother probably had a plan while coming in, a reckless plan, but it’s surely a plan that he had a chance to win.

Stefan couldn’t tell if his presence could ruin the plan, but he couldn’t just leave. He heard the sound of whipping and moved faster.

As the sound of whipping faded, the crashing of tree was heard next. A young tree in front of Stefan fell to the ground, and he found himself face to face with a girl.

"Another high ranking lycan!" she raised an alarm, as she raised her whip. She swung it at Stefan but he didn’t move, and the whip didn’t hit him.

She had missed.

Stefan exhaled. Such a weapon, with her frail hands, she wouldn’t even know how to use it. His fists clenched. If by any chance they had used that on Sorren....

"You arrogant bastard! I’d turn you to burnt—" she froze when he disappeared from his position. She became alarmed. She could never compete with speed of lycans.

"Where’s he?"

She turned behind her but he wasn’t there. "W-Who?"

"The other ’high ranking lycan’."

She flung her whip to her side where she heard him speak but no one was there. Her hand began to tremble. Should she burn the whole forest to the ground?

"My friend must’ve killed him already! His speed is his only strong point!" She smirked. "Just like you! I’d bring you out now!" she pointed at the heavens.

Trails of smoke began to swirl above her, circling each other to make sparks of flame. Those sparks grew to become embers of fire that also grew bigger.

"I’d burn you and everything in sight and I’d—" she spat out blood. Her eyes trembled as they shifted to their side.

Stefan’s hands wrapped around her throat and his fully elongated claws pierced through her skin and out of her flesh, staining itself with her red liquid.

He tugged at her skin by trying to pull his hand and she screamed, her hand falling and the embers of fire fading away. "Tell me exactly where the lycan is?"

Tears already rolled down her eyes. She cursed. "You... crazy Lycans! D-Do you think... I’d let you g-get away... even if I die!" she gagged out blood. "Die with me—!"

A small hurricane of fire grew from her hand.

Stefan pulled his hand still lodged in her neck and it followed him, tearing from her body, affecting her face and shoulder blade.

He used his other hand to remove the skin lodged on his body. Her body fell to the ground, blooding spilling out of the hole in her body and soaking the ground quickly.

Her eyes had grown distant.

Stefan looked up. Unlike the witch who used fire, the other witch seemed to have a quieter ability.

He looked around. What was she trying to burn when he heard that explosion? He noticed the deformed body of a warrior, one from his pack. She was hiding evidences.

The air around him became windier and Stefan sighted a massive amount of wind charging at him. Was that normal? He paused to watch it. Was that an attack?

He was pulled to the ground, timely and the massive amount of wind crashed on trees cutting them in halve immediately.

"Even Sigma would dodge that! Are you stupid!"

Stefan snapped his head to Sorren who pulled him down. "Sorren, are you ok—" his breathing hitched.
