Chapter 215: Bait

Chapter Two Hundred-Fifteen – Bait

The Alpha tilted her head. "If I said I wanted your life, would you give it to me?"

Bebe took a step back. What sort of stupid question was that? Did she want her life after taking her mother’s?

"My mother should never have accepted you into our pack!" Bebe spat, her claws left their place.

The bitch in front of her had been a rogue when her mother accepted her. It had only been few years ago.

That rogue turned out to be talented and she trained to be the Beta. Bebe could have never thought she’d backstab her mother and now sort for her life.

"I will not engage you. Your Princess is coming." The Alpha backed Bebe. "If you don’t want her to see you dead, be in your best behavior."

Bebe’s claws quickly returned. She knew she couldn’t take her on yet, and there was no need to test fate.

The Alpha slowly walked towards a tree and sighted the Princess coming. "Is she nice to you?"

Bebe raised a brow. "Why do you care?"

The Alpha raised her shoulders, shrugging, but she said nothing else. She walked to the Princess.

Laurel paused when she sighted a figure coming. What was she wearing? She immediately guessed it was the Alpha, and on checking her aura, it confirmed.

Did the Alpha dress like that hoping to seduce her? Did she not know she was a female? Laurel stopped all those thoughts and concentrated on the lady.

"Nice to meet you, Princess. I’m glad you came."

Laurel frowned at how dead she sounded. Her eyes went behind the Alpha and noticed Bebe. She let out an exhale. At least, she was still complete.

"The feeling isn’t mutual. You sent miscreants to sneak into my pack and kidnap my pack member?"

Laurel was impressed with herself, with how she was able to hide the anger and hatred boiling in her. "What did you want to talk about?" she asked even if she had a clue.

"You know what." The Alpha pointed out.

Laurel narrowed her eyes at her. She really thought she’d pick her over Bebe to become Alpha?

"You are joking, aren’t you? You see the heir to the Alpha title there and you think I’d support you?"

"Does bloodline matter? I think it’s all about how well you can handle it." Her voice still sounded dead.

To that, Laurel didn’t take her words of inspiration inspiring at all, even if she agreed with it.

"And you’re sure Bebe can’t live up to that? Such level of arrogance. Well, my clear answer is I rather support Bebe than you. What’ll you do now?"

The Alpha closed her eyes, then opened it, no clear expression on her face. "That’s still a problem of a year from now. I’m sure your mind would change by then."

She wanted to wait till a year’s time? Laurel glanced at Bebe who seemed stunned as well. The Princess smirked. "Not even a year will change my decision."

And Bebe would surely be strong enough to challenge her. "Is there anything else you want—"

"Actually, this is what I wanted to talk about. The Alpha coronation was a bait to bring you out. I don’t even need her for anything." She gestured to Bebe.

Wanted to bring her out? Bebe was bait? Laurel didn’t like the sound of that? She took a step back, while hopping Escanor hurried.

If the Alpha tried to kill her for any reason, she wouldn’t be able to handle it by herself, even with Bebe. With her Delta, they had better chances.

"And it’s not to kill you either."

Laurels defenses dropped. It wasn’t? How could this lady even guess her thoughts? Or was it so evident?

"Green Valleys is the base of the lycan Alpha, right?"

Laurel thought for a bit, before nodding.

"Do you want him dead?"

Laurel paused, before swallowing down nothing. "You want me to commit treason and get myself killed?"

"I want to be in your debt, rather. I’d do the killing for you. No, I’m planning an assassination." She corrected. "Surely, you haven’t accepted a lycan as your ruler? If you have, I’d save you."

What kind of speech was that? Laurel bit her lower lips, not believing herself for being angry about the offer.

"Of course, you’d be angry." Elma supported the emotion. "She’s suggesting that you let her kill our mate."

Laurel ignored her wolf, and met the woman’s darkened gaze. Why’d she look like that? She gave her reply. "I’ll not be doing that. Do you know how powerful he is?"

"Has your heart be crushed by fear that you’d submit to a lycan Alpha to rule your lands after destroying your loved ones?" the Alpha’s eyes got even darker.

It might seem coward, but to Laurel, that was the best plan. Her people will survive and that happened without any unnecessary blood shed.

"One time, my warriors tried to kill the Beta and his Delta." Laurel clenched her fists. "They were a lot, yet they were destroyed by those two lycans."

She couldn’t make the mistake again.

"What do you have against the Alpha anyway? Your alliance is solid and they doesn’t seem to be a problem."

The Alpha leaned back, making Laurel realize that she was taller than she had thought. She towered over her a bit. "So you’ve just decided to serve him? I can’t. That alliance was an official’s mistake. I can’t serve a lycan."

"Then dissolve the alliance—"

"It’s my duty to destroy every Lycan that I find existing around my surroundings." She turned to Bebe. "Have you also been sucking up to lycans?"

The woman was very unrealistic.

Laurel stretched her hand and Bebe rushed to hold her hand. "As I said, I don’t support your plans. Do as you like—"

"Your father would be so disappointed." The Alpha interrupted. "Seeing his survivor sucking up to lycans would kill him again. That’s a coward behavior."

Laurel’s hold on Bebe’s hand tightened.
