Her Vengeful Lycan Alpha

Chapter 187: Jinxed

Chapter Hundred-Eighty-Seven – Jinxed

It was odd, really odd but since the Alpha didn’t seem to mind, Beta Cade tried to swallow it like nothing was happening.

He watched the Alpha quietly much on the snacks his sister baked and delivered.

She had used her generic lie ’I felt like baking but baked a lot so have some, Alpha’ to get the Alpha to accept it.

Cade shook a thought from his head. That wasn’t why the Alpha accepted it. It was probably because ladies from the pack gifting and baking him stuff was normal to him.

It wasn’t to Cade. And having his sister do it for the Alpha made him uncomfortable. She clearly had a motive.

His mind drifted to the snack that cook gave him that one time. He didn’t show it but it had made him happy. It tasted of innocence – an attribute he associated with the cook.

The Beta snapped from his thoughts when he noticed the Alpha looking at him. "S-Sorry, I spaced out."

"Should I ask why?"

"No n-need."

Stefan went back to what they were doing.

Few minutes later, he fell back, sighing. "We’re done with the notices for today. Cade, do you need to see Sorren?"

The Beta looked up. Did he? He literally dragged the Prince there so if he visited, he’d be given an uppercut before Sorren would host him.

In that case, he’d just pass.

"It’s not urgent yet." Cade chuckled, quite nervously.

Also, Dylan would be visiting today so that’d be two uppercuts when the Prince hear of Cara’s actions.

The Alpha left his seat. In that case, he should pay his little brother a visit. It’s been a while and he wasn’t used to living apart. This was just a necessary action.

But at that moment a knock came to his study. Stefan could tell it was a warrior, bringing in the dreaded, notices.

Why couldn’t the place be calm for a week? If it wasn’t a case of stolen property, then it’d be a case of a junior abusing a senior, and on so many levels.

He only awaited a death case, or a near death case.

"Come in." Cade told the warrior, since the Alpha only glared at the door. The warrior shivered on seeing the Alpha’s glare on him.

"A-Alpha, from... from Jessika, our former—"

"Give me." Cade stretched his hand.

Stefan exhaled. Indeed, his Beta could handle it instead.

The warrior handed the notice to the Beta and sprinted away, despite the Alpha no longer glaring.

Cade tore the notice open and ran his eyes through it.

The contents were unbelievable but he knew the innocent Jessika wouldn’t lie to him.

"Ah— Nearly kill the Princess— Alpha!!" he shoved the notice to Stefan who had already become alarmed.

Stefan pushed the notice back to have a better look, then his shoulders fell. He had been jinxing himself all day.

Being grateful for no more notices – then one appeared. Waiting for a notice about death – and one arrived.

He must be the problem.

His eyes went up in annoyance. So his mate was nearly killed when he lived in the same vicinity with her? Kai was inactive now or he’d give him an earful.

Cade studied the Alpha’s expression, not much on his face but his eyes stared at something with hatred. The Beta calmly took back the notice and reread it.

Two Black Claws Warriors were involved. Didn’t he tell those young men to elongate their lives by avoiding that Princess?

But then Cade hoped to save them by making them confess and become witnesses.

As for the Black Claws Elders’, who were the culprits, Cade didn’t know what to do.

That was the unbelievable thing about the notice but he was still sure Jessika wouldn’t lie. Perhaps, they were some old men masquerading as Black Claws Elders.

Cade squeezed the notice in his hand. Jessika had added that in her bid to protect the Princess, she got hit.

It infuriated the Beta as he could imagine her in a crying mess. He found it impressive and worrisome that she tried defending her princess while only being a former cook.

He left his seat. "I’d handle these fake Elders, Alpha."

Another warrior appeared outside the door, killing Cade’s enthusiasm. Stefan raised a hand. "Handle it, Cade. I’d handle this notice. I jinxed myself, after all."

The Beta didn’t know what it meant but permitted the warrior to come in, while attempting to leave.

"Alpha, two supposedly Elders of Black Claws Pack are outside waiting for you."

Cade stopped walking out and spun back to the warrior. "Did you say Black Claws Elders?"

The warriors looked down, emphasizing. "Supposedly, sir. I can’t be so sure. They want to speak with the Alpha."

Stefan sprang from his seat, swiftly moving to where the elders will be. His Beta followed. If these were Black Claws actual elders, then what did they want?

But if these were the fake Elders, then the Moon Goddess was merciful to bring them to their doorstep.

"Did you give the elders permission to leave High Mountains?" Stefan asked Cade. "Or did Sorren?"

They reached the entrance and met two lean men with boring faces at the gate. They looked like they hadn’t eaten a proper meal for long.

Stefan tilted his head at the men who looked at him expectantly. "Did our elders lose weight?"

Or was it the travel from High Mountains to Green Valleys that made them like that? Or were they just totally different people? He’d like to give a benefit of doubt first.

Cade came forward. Those weren’t their elders. He remembered one of them still being a good looking Lycan despite his old age.

He couldn’t change so much in one year, or it would scare Cade that hoped on looking that good during his old age.

"Excuse us sirs, you said you are Elders of Black Claws? Could you state your names for easy identification—"

"Elder Baka!"

"Elder Uso!"

They stated anxiously, not liking the atmosphere of absurdity settling between them and the lycan officials.

Strange names, Stefan thought. And they were definitely not from Black Claws. "Who made you Elders?"

The two old werewolves turned to Beta Cade, who had realized and was now trying to hide his face. "Him!"
