Chapter 186: Aunty

Chapter Hundred-Eighty-Six – Aunty

He came looking for his cousin, and one masking under a spell as a lycan? Laurel and Ferdinand inched closer to the young man. "What’s the name?"

The young man covered his face on seeing them getting so close. "I don’t know, I was a child when I last saw her but I’m sure it’s here, because of this, it’s my father’s."

He had pointed at his helmet. Laurel recognized it was an old design of armor for Green Valleys’ warriors.

Probably, his father was an old Green Valleys’ warrior, and with only one helmet, they wouldn’t be able to determine who owned it.

"So you are part Green Valleys’, part witch? Interesting." The young Beta returned to a huge seat.

He had been standing for long so he snapped his fingers and female servants came to massage his shoulders.

"You just have to be on the watch out for this werewolfess masking as a lycan. She’d probably be at High Mountains though." The young Beta suggested.

The young man left the ground and made a small bow. "Thank you. For the meantime, I’m part of the Princess’ elite forces so I’d do my best for her first."

Laurel had the ’I still suspect you’ expression.

"Elite forces? Do you need any of my servants?"

Laurel looked at the young male servants and they all looked unwilling, she sighed. "No, thank you, Ferdinand. Also soon, you’d be moving to Elder Uso’s mansion."

The young Beta picked a glass cup from a tray brought to him. He raised it in cheers. "Thank you, your highness. That’s not a problem."

Laurel walked away, shaking her head. That boy must’ve had a perfect life since he could open his eyes.

She noticed the young man following her.

"How old are you?"

He looked like he’d be in his mid twenties but with his attitude, he was probably around twenty-two.

"Ah, I recently turned nineteen. No one celebrated it though." He rubbed his head.

Laurel wore disbelief on her face but she hadn’t seen his face without the helmet, so he might actually look younger than he was, at the face, only.

"And name?"

He hesitated. "You can just give me a new one."

She regretted asking. He didn’t say any other thing so she tried it. "Huggins."

He tilted his head. "You’re serious?"

Laurel frowned. She regretted trying. He was speaking sassily to her again. "Then tell me, I need to make this elite force acknowledged by the Alpha."

"Yes, they are three members."

Since when? Laurel felt like face palming.

"Who and who and who?"

"Um... Jessika said a man will bring the other one. If he wasn’t good enough for Delta, he can join us. Then Jessika and I."

That man must be Darren, Laurel thought.

And did Jessika tell him all these just from the short walk from Elder Baka’s mansion to Valkyrie’s quarters? She had a fast mouth.

Laurel would’ve appreciated it if Darren told her his plans directly, but he usually used Jessika because she easily snuck out of Green Valleys’ to Silent River.

And bringing a new Delta from somewhere? That meant the Delta wouldn’t be from Green Valleys’. Well, it was inescapable, they didn’t have a Delta lineage.

They should make do with any strong wolf that would work with them and swear loyalty to Green Valleys.

With such thoughts, Laurel wished she had broken Delta rank so it’d be a tad bit impressive to be above one of her direct officials.

If only she had someone to train with...

"Princess, will you tell me your own name?"

She realized and turned to him with a wide grin.

The young man backed away, with blushed cheeks. "W-Why’re you smiling? D-Do you want me to give you one?"

Her smile fell, and her gaze turned to a glare. "Don’t even dare. I have a name that I’m proud of. And you haven’t apologized for trying to kill me—"

The young man fell on her feet, holding it. "I was hoping you’d forget, your highness! Please, please, forgive me! I was told I’d die and I’ve never died before!"

Laurel tried pulling his feet away but his hold was strong.

She looked around the quarters for help but they seemed to be none. "I’d use force if you don’t—"

"Please...." Actual tears streamed from his eyes. "If you cast me out, I’d be sold to another master because, somehow, I’m so appealing to sell! I don’t want to die!"

Such dramatics! Laurel frowned, as it reminded her of Sorren, another male around her age. Could it be males her age were very dramatic?

She gritted her teeth, pulling her leg from him. "Stop already! Sheesh!"

There was a chuckle.

The Princess snapped her head to the entrance and grimaced. "And what are you doing here?"

The lady rolled her eyes. "Acting mighty after playing with your royal boy toy. You’ve good taste, Princess."

There was a mocking emphasis to the way the lady said ’princess’. It made Laurel smirk.

"That title is amongst the numerous ones you’d never use, Lady Cara."

The young man kept his hand on his mouth, turning to the Lady for a counterattack.

Lady Cara glared wickedly at the Princess. "What do you know about me! I have ambitions!"

The Princess waved her hand dismissively. "And I have princess-ly duties. I’d assume one of your numerous notices were coming to meet me, but since I didn’t reply, kindly leave."

The young man left the ground, dusting himself. "You heard the lady, Aunty. Please leave."

Aunty? Both Laurel and Lady Cara paused.

Then Laurel began shaking with laughter.

Lady Cara’s jaw had fallen to the ground. Did she look that old to be called ’aunty’ by a man seemingly her age?

Without sparing any more words, she sprinted out of the place, her hand covering her mouth.

The Princess turned to the young man. "You have a foul tongue. She didn’t look old, at all."

The young man folded his arms. "And I didn’t look like a royal boy toy." He looked away. "I wouldn’t mind though..."

Laurel sighed, walking away. So that was his revenge? At least, that Cara wouldn’t come around her for a while.
