Chapter 181: Test

Chapter Hundred-Eighty-One – Test

Laurel turned to Lisa who said.

"He’s a slave to one of the elders. He probably didn’t want to do this. Please, don’t kill him, Princess."

But the young man already had a trickle of blood on his head and Lisa couldn’t tell if it was already too late.

Laurel frowned, noticing the chain anklet on the young man’s shoes, above his boots. He was indeed a slave.

But did slaves exist at Green Valleys? Since when?

She took the bottled liquid from Lisa and marched ahead to the end of the hall. "Bring him with me."

Jessika easily carried the young man, while Lisa picked the sword. She immediately realized what it was smeared with and grimaced.

The Elders had dared to kill the Princess!

The door at the end was kicked open, it left the hinges, falling flat and raising dust. Laurel knocked on the wall. "Excuse me, old men. Coming in."

The room was brightly lit and she sighted the three idiots at the side, seated on a table, wearing nervous grins.

Laurel suppressed the urge to go to the faces and rudely slap those grins off their faces. But she was curious. Curious about the excuse they’d use to escape this.

"So, your servant nearly killed me. Whose? And why?"

Her most hated, Elder Uso, left the table pointing behind her. "He was just my test for you. You need more than just royal blood to rule a pack. You need strength."

As expected from a prolific liar, Laurel had to clap.

That excuse was crap but it could work, after all, she knew the truth. "I’m glad you weren’t threatened by an eighteen year old who you’ve wronged."

The elder fell back on his chair. "W-When did we wrong you? You know the condition of the pack then. We did—"

Laurel walked into the room, stepping on the fallen door. Her hand on the bottled liquid tightened.

"You wronged me."

What excuse did they have to step on a Princess and kick her like she was lesser than the ants under their feet?

She stopped in front of the elders that had holed together in fear. A grin came to her face as she brought the bottled liquid in front of them.

Then it was sprayed on their faces.

They screamed, covering their eyes as the liquid painfully stung their bare skin and eyes. It also had a pungent smell that Laurel had to step away when she was done.

The men tried to clean their faces but touching their face brought the slightest bruise so they couldn’t rub anywhere.

"You little bitch! You’re as heartless— we’d have brought more to kill her!" Elder Baka cursed as he cried in agony.

The other Elder, Elder Debu, slid to the ground, his fat body jiggling, as he cried like a two year old.

A sardonic but pleased smile graced Laurel’s face watching them. The bottled liquid was a random concoction she had made from some of the perfumes she was given as congratulatory gifts.

A particular one was harsh to her skin, so she found the raw product at Green Valleys and concentrated the perfume even more, then added faeces into it.

It was the right thing for backstabbing dogs like them. Just as they made her short of sight, she’d take their own sight for a while.

Someone coughed behind her and she turned to find the ambusher was awake already.

He was really strong if her stomps, which had her will to survive, couldn’t knock him out for up to hour.

Or did the cruel things he had to experience as a slave made him tough?

She couldn’t believe Green Valleys’ born elders were so cruel to keep a fellow werewolf as slave?

She gestured for the sword to be given to her. "Elder Uso, you said that you were testing me, huh?"

As the elders’ heard her coming close and they couldn’t see her next move, paralytic fear gripped them.

"We have... we have gotten an offer from the Alpha to be his elders, if you touch us, you’d have to answer to him!"

Laurel kept coming closer much to their dismay but Lisa quickly held her back. "Princess, they are not lying. I heard it too. The Alpha might really have asked them."

Laurel had an indifferent expression. Why should Stefan’s decision stop her from what she wanted to do? She gently took her arm from Lisa’s hold.

She came in front of the elders. You tested me, so I’d do the same." She unsheathed the sword and slit their hands, not too deep, as it was laced with wolfsbane.

The elders screamed and Elder Debu stupidly began licking his wounds, taking the wolfsbane into his body.

"Permit me to test you for strength as well." Laurel said in a polite tone. "Being the elder to the Alpha needs more than wisdom, it’d also need strength."

She sheathed the sword and handed it to Lisa who took it with a sly smile. "Ah, Princess, the contracts are ready."

And they finally reached the best part. Laurel smiled brightly. "Bring it in, please."

Lisa sprinted out immediately and returned with three paperwork, which was handed to Laurel.

"Elder Baka, Elder Debu and Elder Uso, you just said that you have been invited to be the Alpha’s elders, right?"

The elders nodded, except Elder Debu who silently sobbed. Laurel nodded, smiling.

They wouldn’t be able to see the mischief so obvious on her face because of their closed hurting eyes.

"In that case, it’s not wrong for me to banish you three from Green Valleys Pack, is it?" she tilted her head.

The elders shifted back, surprised by the question. Banishment from pack was heavily humiliating and no one wanted to pass through that.

"If not, I can’t ever let you go to the Alpha while you are still elders of Green Valleys’ pack?" she added.

The elders saw the reasoning, the reasoning she wanted them to see. "Yes! Yes! Do it! I’m done with this stupid pack anyway!" Elder Baka and Uso shouted.

Laurel carefully placed the contract in front of them, even if they couldn’t see what was written. "Alright then."
