Chapter 175: Livid

Chapter Hundred-Seventy-Five – Livid

"I’d coach her for a week? About Green Valleys?" Laurel sipped the tea she had made for herself to buy time.

The warrior, Dylan, nodded. He had repeated the Alpha’s words verbatim.

"And my punishment?" Laurel asked.

Dylan took it as she accepted the verdict because a week was ample time to show Cara her place. "Your punishment is... to coach Lady Cara about Green Valleys for a week?"

Laurel paused, the cup still on her mouth. Wasn’t that the same thing as the verdict? This was just a clear invitation to treat that Cara as she’d like for the next week.

"And the Alpha added that, if you don’t like the verdict, you can cancel it and it’d cancel your punishment." Baxter added, hoping to save Lady Cara by laying all the options.

Dylan smirked. Why wouldn’t she like the verdict?

Laurel left her seat, staring down at the two. "I refuse that verdict! By doing so, I refuse that punishment as well!"

The two lycans were dumbstruck, looking for answers within their head. Baxter was glad she refused though.

"I can’t help but feel insulted." Laurel balled her fists.

Dylan frowned, wondering what went wrong. "But the punishment..."

"My punishment for having a lady insult me and my warriors is to coach her! How’s that fair!" Laurel barked.

"The Alpha insults me doesn’t he! I don’t have better use of my time, he thinks! I can lovingly coach that shit, he thinks! Or did he want me to bully her? Will he let me bully his Beta’s sister?"

Dylan couldn’t help but feel the Princess misunderstood. The Alpha wouldn’t mind if Cara got bullied because such were teacher-student relationship.

He felt he had to apologize. "I didn’t think you’d see it that way, your highness. I shouldn’t have—"

"Princess Laurel, please calm down." Lead Warrior Baxter came forward. "I’m sure the Alpha was trying to let you handle Lady Cara by your—"

"I’m sure not!" Laurel snapped. "My person was insulted, and my warriors that serve him. Yet my just verdict and punishment turned out to be that! He insults me!"

Dylan grew smaller till he fell on his knees. "I’m sorry, Princess Laurel. It seems I misunderstood. The Alpha deems highly of Lady Cara as she’s the Beta’s sister."

Baxter bowed. "It seems the Alpha might have been trying to punish you in both ways. I’m deeply sorry to bring you such news."

Laurel looked away, returning to her seat in a huff. "Now I know how the Alpha really sees us. We are his conquered wolves anyway. Our opinion, our pride, mean nothing!"

The Lead Warrior and Dylan left the place immediately.

Laurel checked to see if they were gone, before smirking. Stefan must really think she had nothing better to do so wanted to keep her busy while punching that lady.

However, in truth, she barely had time for herself, talk less of sparing it on that insolent soul.

And Lady Cara might listen to her during the one week coaching but might punish the others, Lisa and the rest. It was best she avoided them totally.

But then, she didn’t just want to refuse the verdict and punishment so easily, so she thwarted her reason a bit and acted like the victim.

Elma sighed at her drama. "You are just causing trouble for our mate. Are you sure this isn’t your way of making you stay in his mind?"

Laurel scoffed. "All he thinks about is himself. I don’t need a spot in that head."

Rather, if he should avoid her, while keeping in mind that she had a score to settle with him. And it’s all thanks to the busybody Cara that she got that score to settle.

"Isn’t that what that lady did? Played victim to her Alpha?" Laurel sipped her tea. "Well, two can play that game."

Meanwhile Dylan paced in front of the Alpha’s study hall, reciting how he’d explain what happened. The Lead Warrior had already left him to save his head.

Dylan knocked and got in when he got permission.

Stefan studied the boy, he had noticed him pace outside the door for long before knocking. He turned to Sigma that had come to help Cade. "Did something else happen with him?"

Sigma folded his arms, looking away. "He’s to stay away from me, right? How’d I know, Alpha?"

Stefan clicked his tongue, returning his gaze to Dylan. "So?"

Dylan sucked in air and pushed it out, then narrated the raging state the Princess was in. He dramatically added that due to that the Lead Warrior was in a bad mood.

A distraught expression was on Stefan’s face.

She had refused the verdict and the punishment? And she felt insulted by them? That had been the opposite of all he thought.

"Proof that you don’t know our mate well enough!" Kai started. "And now, you’ve made her feel insulted."

Stefan fell on his seat, having a sullen expression. "So she’s in a bad mood? She didn’t want to coach Cara?"

"Not at all." Dylan bit his lower lips. "She was livid and I think that worsened her feelings with Lady Cara. She said the Lady insulted—"

"Hold your horses, Dylan!" Cade interrupted. "The Alpha understands. If the Princess wants to be offended, she can be, for all anyone would care."

Dylan paused, then looked at the Alpha. "Wouldn’t that spoil our relationship with them?"

The Alpha said nothing.

"She said we were her conquerors, right? Well, she’s damn right. If she feels it’s unfair, she should chase us out." Cade scoffed. "Just tell our warriors to avoid her, because she’s probably overheating now."

Stefan looked down on hearing those words. He took a file and flipped it open to distract himself.

Dylan accepted it. It turned out that he couldn’t even use the Princess to exact his revenge on Lady Cara. The Alpha and Beta were on her side.

He glanced at Sigma who was looking at him. Then he remembered. "Alpha, can I please request for permission to go back to High Mountains?"

Stefan dragged his eyes up. "Why?"

Dylan hesitated, then forced a smile. "I... I sort of miss Prince Sorren. Also, I have something I’d like to report."

Cade froze. Was Dylan trying to tell Sorren about Cara’s behavior to Sigma? He shook his head at Stefan. That request should be disannulled.

But Stefan didn’t see the harm in it. Even, he had been planning to visit Sorren but hadn’t gotten the time.

"It’s no problem, Dylan. Maybe he’d reteach you how to control your temper.*

Cade face palmed, sighing.

Dylan smiled. "Thank you, Alpha."

At least the Prince always settled all matters fairly, so he’d let the Prince know EVERYTHING.
