Chapter 173: Report

Chapter Hundred-Seventy-Three – Report

Laurel’s mind had been drifting to Darren’s request – to Valkyrie. She hadn’t even been aware of it till a notice from the Lead Warrior came that he’d ask for more details.

The Valkyrie and Jessika had then come clean to her.

As their Princess, she had shared Slime’s wild story so they’d be careful when moving alone in the forest as any lycan, even High Mountains’, could be wild in there.

But Jessika had told Valkyrie, orders from Darren, to send a report to Alpha Stefan that Slime, the messenger of High Moon Kingdom, had attacked the Princess.

Darren also sent report soon later that Slime attacked his pack and left a child injured, a Black Claws warriors had gone to confirm, gifting medicine and an apology.

Laurel couldn’t help but feel wronged.

"If Darren had asked, I’d have made the claim myself." But as Jessika had told her, Darren was trying to leave her innocent. If only he knew.

"The bottom line is that Slime attacked me, whether or not he was wild. He had hurt that boy from Silent River without being wild so he’s still villainous." She said to herself.

Now, she had to wait for the Lead Warrior to come for an official statement from her, even if she heard that Stefan had quickly complained to High Moon about it.

Laurel glanced at the complaint she had received from the Beta’s quarters, concerning hitting the Beta’s guest, Lady Cara. She hadn’t yet opened it.

In fact, she hoped to ignore it so the Beta will come to her with his own feet and whine about her scolding his sister.

Laurel’s eyes shifted to the sky outside the window. On days that she didn’t know what to do, like this one, it was best to sleep and nourish the mind.

"Princess Laurel!"

But she couldn’t do that as Princess, because a notice can be sent in at anytime. Her Beta wasn’t even handling anything but having teatime and sword training.

Lisa reached the Princess, panting. "The Lead Warrior... is on his way... and he’s with a warrior and they’re—"

"I’m aware that they’re coming, Lisa." She rubbed the girl’s back so she’d breathe properly. "What is it then?"

"They are both Lycans!" Lisa dug her hand into her hair.

Laurel realized, she rushed out. "We’ve to inform them."

The last time Sigma and the Lead Warrior visited, many servants helping the Beta and others living in Valkyrie’s quarters weren’t around.

They can’t handle a lycan’s presence yet, but then Laurel stopped. The two lycans coming where lead warrior and a warrior lycan.

That’d be the lowest ranked officials these werewolves would ever see. They should get used to it.

She turned to Lisa. "Bring them in here. Don’t worry, you are free now, Lisa. They wouldn’t punish you either."

Lisa’s face changed from horrid to determined. "I-I’d go!"

The Princess smiled while watching her stomp out.

The Lead Warrior and his warrior walked in later, but Lisa wasn’t with them. Laurel nodded when the Lead Warrior bowed, but the warrior, Dylan, was quite confused.

Baxter bent Dylan’s head down, forcing it down. "Sorry, your highness. He sometimes forgets his manners—"

"It’s fine. Dylan isn’t a rude one." Laurel smiled. "Right?"

The warrior strained to look up, then dragged them down with flushed cheeks. "Y-Yes."

Baxter watched the interaction with wide eyes. Dylan knew the Princess personally? How personal?

He cleared his throat, not wanting to be forgotten. Identifying with the ladies had always been his mission and forte.

Green Valleys’ ladies were hard to befriend but somehow the Princess was friendly with Dylan? He’d have to ask the warrior’s secret later.

"Yes. The report." Laurel nodded. "So what do you want to know? Wasn’t Valkyrie’s words enough?"

The Lead Warrior froze. He didn’t know why Beta Cade has asked him to collect exact details from the Princess, even after her Lead Warrior has said so.

But he assumed it was the Beta’s overly cautious manner.

"I hope it’s no problem, your highness, we just need to be double sure." He regretted making it sound like they didn’t trust Valkyrie but he had to follow orders.

Laurel guessed Valkyrie will be the case, if the case had come from Lisa or someone neutral, or even Bebe, who the Beta was familiar with, he’d believe it immediately.

She knew Cade wasn’t overly cautious, just wary of Valkyrie because, he must’ve seen her glaring at him, her eyes on him emanating hatred.

And then the case with the Lead Warrior, she was involved and her spear was used.

Laurel knew Cade, who used his instincts more than his brain, will immediately mark Valkyrie as a threat and second guess everything she does.

Darren should have asked Jessika to do it. Cade might even call for Slime’s head with how dramatic Jessika would make it be.

"It’s no problem at all." Laurel snapped from her thoughts. "I was taking a run in the forest when I drifted too far. I met him close to Silent River and he attacked me."

"Then you two walked back in together?" Dylan suddenly asked innocently. But Laurel frowned at him.

That was the only problem and Darren wouldn’t know. She has settled with Slime and walked in with him, the warriors saw them.

To make it look like he lunged at her with a clear kill intent, then they became friends, made it seem quite off.

She exhaled. "Yes, he didn’t know I was the Princess of Green Valleys. He assumed I was a random werewolfess. What could I have done than bring him back?"

Dylan raised a brow. With how the princess had beaten warriors and ladies who insulted her or her pack member, he found it hard to believe she didn’t beat the High Moon messenger even a little bit.

But he brushed it off. She probably held herself since he was a representing of the King of High Moon.

Baxter nodded, seeing that the information correlated, with a little addition. If the messenger didn’t know it was the Princess, then he could be cut some slack.

He still didn’t know why the messenger would attack but when he had spoken with him, he seemed reasonable and smiled a lot, despite how seemingly scary he looked.

The only person Baxter knew who smiled yet was crazy was that Prince Sorren, and he’d like him to be the only one he knew.

"This is fine now." Baxter exhaled. "We have another issue, your highness. Well,..." he looked at Dylan. "You might be getting a little punishment."

Laurel’s facial expression didn’t change. "Hmm, why?"
