Chapter 171: Her Offer

Chapter Hundred-Seventy-One – Her offer

Slime marched to the entrance, gripping his pillow. Hopefully, whatever he was called out for will end quickly so he’d return to sleep.

He had lost so much blood during the last mission and he only wanted to sleep and sleep and sleep. He caught scent of Delta Zara and fear seized his heart.

Could she have gotten wind of him going wild so she came to punish him? His steps became timid as he revealed himself behind the door.

He saw the King and the Delta having an intense glaring contest.

He walked up to them and made a small bow. "Delta Zara, I’m really sorry if you’ve heard of uncom—"

"Slime!"

The lycan kept quiet and stared at his King.

"You told me that the Princess of Green Valleys saved you when you went wild, didn’t you?"

Slime nodded, looking down in shame when Zara had snapped her head to him. Asher looked at Zara but the Delta huffed. "The matter got worse then!"

Asher sighed.

"So you went wild close to a werewolf pack, and also close to a pack under our banner?" Zara pointed at Slime. "What made you go wild?"

Slime glanced at the King but Asher shook his head. Slime took his head down again. "It was an accident."

But Zara knew he just didn’t want to tell her. She didn’t care to know either, but Black Claws kept on sending their cases to her and she couldn’t ignore it.

Slime diminished as he felt her intense stare on him.

Zara noticed the pillow under his arms and a mischievous grin graced her lips.

Her hand reached for Slime’s face and the lycan looked at her, his cheeks reddened when she was directly in front of his face. "Come and live with me, Slime."

Asher slapped her hand away, pushing Slime back. "You are crazy. He currently works with—"

Zara scoffed, interrupting the King’s words, her eyes travelled to the new scar on Slime’s head. "Slime, do you want to stay and keep being a punch bag for this jerk—"

She blocked Asher’s slap, her eyes glowed a luminous yellow, and she continued her words. "...jerk? Or you return with me and I’d make you the next Delta?"

Asher gasped, taking his hand down. Slime peeked from behind the King. The two weren’t expecting her offer.

Zara’s eyes returned to their normal shade, she smirked.

"I know you think your father’s scar was made with hate while Asher’s is with love but that’s wrong. They’re both..." she looked Asher in the eye, "...jerks. I’m your ticket out."

Asher didn’t care about her words.

She was one of the few people he couldn’t punish because of their close relationship with his father.

But if she could really make Slime a Delta, despite him being an illegitimate son and loathed by his father, then he might feel something akin gratitude towards her.

Slime held unto the King’s clothes, being uncertain of his decisions. He wouldn’t mind if the King made it for him.

Zara understood and sighed. "Honestly, you should know, being Delta is tiring. But I can’t hand it over to the ’legitimate’ scums of your father, Slime."

Slime looked at her again, then looked down.

Zara continued. "Even the King didn’t think they could be good enough to be Delta so gave it to me." She raised her voice. "I’d train you, Slime! Come with me—"

Asher stretched his hand and Zara jumped back, frowning at him. "My conversation is with Slime, not you." She said.

"And as you can see, he’s still... deciding."

Zara’s expression shifted. The jerk will let Slime decide?

Slime bit his lower lips, wishing the King will handle it but deep down, he wanted to do something greater.

"So," Asher turned from her, "Until he sends a response, I don’t want to see your face here, again. That’s an order."

Zara held a handful of her hair. "You’re sure? I’m the best looking female you’ve ever seen in your secluded life?"

Asher clicked his tongue. "Have you see Nether?"

Zara rolled her eyes. "She’s second to me." She turned away but said a final note. "Slime, I’d wait for your reply. You don’t deserve to be someone’s ragdoll, okay?"

Slime gave no response and she walked away.

When she was gone, Asher patted Slime. "If you accept this, she’d find a way to work it out with Black Claws for going wild around their pack. You’d not be punished."

And that’d be the quickest solution to that problem.

Slime paused, looking at the King. "She’d work it out?"

Asher nodded. "Will she let her student be punished? And you mustn’t treat her like your master, you’re only a year younger. That bitch only acts mature, she’s just nineteen."

Slime’s jaw fell. The Delta was just nineteen? Then how could she be that powerful?

Suddenly he felt out of place. The Alpha’s child, Beta’s child and he, the illegitimate Delta’s son, but he was so weak compared to them.

"Don’t feel bad." Asher said, walking ahead of him. He sensed that Slime would begin downgrading himself. "Your half siblings are just as pathetic as you are."

Asher knew it might not sound comforting but it was the truth. The truth was, the Delta was a lost cause who didn’t invest in any of his three children, one being illegitimate.

When the former King had found out about him abusing and torturing one of his sons in secret, the Delta got a royal beating that messed up his health.

Slime didn’t know that his father wasn’t sick but recovering from the heavy injuries he got from the beating.

Only the Beta, Zara, Asher and the former King knew the truth about the Delta.

However, what the Beta and Zara didn’t know was that it was Asher who ordered for a royal beating, not the former King, and it was Asher who gave the royal beating.

Then, he took in the unfortunate son.

"But, your highness." Slime exhaled. "Won’t you need help around here? I help you, right? If I go—"

"Don’t underestimate me, Slime." Asher frowned. "I can survive fine without you. I have been and will keep on."

Slime bowed. "I’m sorry."

Then he smiled, feeling relieved "In that case, I’d think carefully about Delta Zara’s offer."
