Chapter 170: Report
Chapter Hundred-Seventy – Report
Asher paced around his lab, waiting for the twins. He had sent them to get information from Victoria about magical instruments that can make one lose memory.
For that traveler to have such instrument that he’d never heard about before, he’s either a magic wielder or have access to top witches.
Which makes him dangerous to Black Claws.
Despite his consistent carefreeness, he was still King and Black Claws protection was his duty. Having such a werewolf involved in magic was dangerous.
Also, what could he have done to make Sigma go wild? It greatly annoyed Asher, and almost all the things that annoy him had a survival rate of zero.
He heard feet tapping the roof and he strolled close to the balcony. The twins flipped to the ground and bowed. "We have gotten the information, your highness."
He didn’t care, but he asked. "How’s Victoria?"
Nene glanced at her brother, who nodded at her. "We didn’t meet her. She committed... suicide."
Asher’s eyes expanded then returned to its usual size. That’s one stupid girl. If her Fang team died, all she had to do was join another. She could then get stronger to avenge. Stupid child.
"So who told you this?" he further asked.
"There’s another witch in Fang who cleared Victoria’s thing from her lodge, we were lucky to meet her. Also, your highness, Delta Zara is on her way here."
Asher clicked his tongue, walking inside. "Come with me. That lady doesn’t stay at a place. Did she tell you why?"
Nene and Nero jumped into the building. They shook their hands simultaneously.
"Anyway, what’s the instrument about?" Asher asked as they walked in. "It’s disappointing that the only witch we were affiliated with just killed herself."
But she was a werewolf anyway so her death didn’t matter, at all. Still, he knew Nene was close to the girl so didn’t speak much of it.
"The other witch, Imperia, taught Victoria all she knew so she’s more resourceful. Don’t worry, you highness, we’d do our best to be in good relationship with her." Nene said.
Hearing Nene discard Victoria the moment a better witch came to light made Asher think he shouldn’t have tried being polite. She knew what they needed.
"The instrument, golden scythe or flush pill, must’ve been used. But the witch said it’s probably golden scythe. Flush pills made the victim forget everything but Slime didn’t."
Asher remembered that Slime still remembered the traveler and what he went for. "Golden Scythe is?"
"It cut ties. The wielder must have cut Slime ties with the witch, so the witch never existed to Slime."
So they had been a witch and Slime found them? Asher nodded. The traveler tried making a fool out of Slime.
"She also said that golden scythe is an old weapon so has probably begun losing it’s magic. Many of it’s victims regained their memories after few weeks to months."
That was promising but the King didn’t have that time. "Anything about it going wild?"
Nero replied. "She didn’t say exactly but I remembered a lesson I learnt in Fang, that magic instruments with low magic can make lycans go wild due to its insufficiency."
And since this golden scythe was an old weapon with low magic, it made Slime go wild after it’s usage. Asher smirked, everything was going full circle.
"Thank you. I’d go and host our guest." Asher said, the twins immediately dispersed and he hastened his steps to the front. He noticed her outside the lab.
"I am not happy with your frequent visits."
Zara twirled her hair in boredom but stopped when he got close. He should know that she hated this visits the most.
"This matter concerns Slime." She started. "I’m tired of speaking to you so I’d need a more reasonable audience." She clapped her hand. "Get Slime for me."
Asher raised a brow. A matter that concerned Slime? Could it be from Black Claws pack? He snatched the report from her before she could react.
Zara reached for it but he held her hand and pinned it on the wall, his eyes glazed through the report. Zara pulled her hand from his hold and folded them, letting him read it.
Different emotions flashed in Asher’s face as he read the report, and the last emotion was amusement.
"This is really interesting." He tossed the report to Zara, who let it fall. "I’d go and get Sigma—"
"No, send Nene and Nero. You could escape and I don’t want to walk into your infested lab." She raised a finger.
Infested lab? Asher sighed.
Almost the ones who disrespected him and annoyed him, she always took the biggest accolades, but he couldn’t kill her, for various reasons.
"You should really watch what you said to a King—"
"I’d watch what I say when you begin acting like you have a shred of royal blood in your veins." Zara snapped immediately. "You keep dragging Slime into your mess."
Asher’s eyes dimmed on her. The report had been from Black Claws Pack but had a preposterous claim.
Slime attacked their surroundings and nearly killed the Princess of Green Valleys, one of their packs.
Slime had told Asher that the Princess saved him from being wild, but the story seemed to have been thwarted.
Also, Black Claws added that their surrounding ally, Silent River had complained of a lycan, Slime, attacking the pack and injuring a child.
So, now, the issue was why Slime did it and who ordered him to. Asher frowned at Zara. Did she believe it? "Doesn’t it sound preposterous? Why will I tell Slime to attack—"
"Well, the two victims are werewolves that you hate. It’s not unusual, is it?" Zara kept a hand on her hip.
She knew that Princess, Laurel, was careful about lycans so there’s no way she’d purposely annoy Slime to get herself killed.
"You miss something crucial? If I sent Slime to kill them, they should be dead. If not, how did it happen?" Asher raised a brow.
That Princess couldn’t defat Slime, she’s just a smart but weak thing, and the traveler should be a low ranked wolf.
Zara didn’t have an answer to that but she didn’t care. The King didn’t deny sending Slime there, so that’s it. He had bad intentions.
