Chapter 169: Sorry

Chapter Hundred-Sixty-Nine – Sorry

What goes on through his head? Asher sighed.

Delta Zara had asked him that when he celebrated his latest completed drug to her.

She’s just a killjoy. That drug had the capacity to render even the most powerful werewolves stupid and vulnerable.

Infact, the more powerful a wolf was, the greater disadvantage they had in the face of his drug.

They’d cause more damage, and will have so many openings that an arrow can kill them, even a blunt spear.

Also, they’d be more inclined to attack then defend, giving them even more vulnerabilities.

But he didn’t expect Zara, a goody two shoes daddy’s girl, to understand that, why did he even try?

He patted Slime, on his laps. His head was still buried under his blanket as he shivered due to the cold.

Asher carefully dropped his head on the bed and went to take a shower.

Combined with being King, he had to be a dedicated scientist. That dream was courtesy to Lunaria’s experimentation and breeding. He had no regrets.

Lunaria was powerful, so no one said anything about the acts after they agreed to stop doing it.

But did they really stop? They stopped experimenting on Lycans and stopped breeding but now, they were making the bred lycans trade their wolf for magic.

Many of them wouldn’t want to part with their wolf but would have to do it because they were born as bred lycans. That was still exploitation.

But the werewolf Packs and Kingdoms which knew would say nothing about it, after all, the victims were still lycans.

"The same hatred that course through my veins for them, is the same that course through their veins for me."

All that mattered now was who had the ability to exert their hatred to the fullest.

The battle line had already been drawn, though, the hybrids, like Zara, will always sit at the sidelines.

He knew she was hybrid but expected her to be more lycan than werewolf but she kept disappointing him.

Asher left the bathroom, a towel on his waist and another across his shoulders. He noticed Slime was awake.

Slime reddened in embarrassment, tearing his eyes from the King’s body. "S-S-Sorry."

He looked around and found himself in the King’s room and on his royal bed. How did he get on the King’s bed?

And with the pillow placement and slight dip on the other side of the bed, it showed the King had laid with him.

Slime left the bed, bowing. "I’m really sorry for putting you in uncomfortable situations, your highness—"

"Slime, why were you at the bottom of Snow top Mountain nearly passed out?" Asher toweled his neck. "Hmm?"

Slime tried remembering, then looked down. "I was really tired so I must have passed out when I thought I was close to my destination."

Tired? Asher frowned. He sent him to one of the packs under him as his messenger and he came back tired?

"Didn’t Black Claws take care of you?" he asked.

Slime nodded. "They did. But I was in a hurry to come back so I didn’t rest. Your highness, I don’t know what I-I achieved there. I just seem to have forgotten."

Asher raised a brow. He went behind a curtain to change. "You forgot what? Did you get information on a witch at Silent River pack?"

"Yes that, I forgot whether I did or not. Your highness, that traveler is not common. I don’t know what happened after he made me unconscious but then... I went wild."

Asher walked out of the curtain, wearing a transparent long shirt on black trousers. "You went wild... huh?"

He buttoned the sleeves, trying not to react to it, but then he applied much pressure on the button making it break in pieces. He flung his head back, chuckling softly.

Slime looked down. "I’m really sorry, your highness—"

A kick went to his face and he fell on the bed, he reached for his face quickly to prevent his blood from touching the royal bed.

He knew it was a humiliating thing to go wild, and the King specially hated it, but he couldn’t give his report without that bit.

"You went wild, Slime?!" Asher barked. "Go and ask a werewolf some questions and you went wild?"

Slime knelt on the ground, he kept his eyes on the floor. "I’m really sorry, your highness. I’d accept whatever punishment you—"

"Shut up!" Asher fell on his bed, and crossed his legs. "The traveler at Silent River is no common wolf to make you go wild! Did he use magic?"

Slime looked up and shook his head. "I don’t think so. My body ached badly but I didn’t feel magic was used on me. The only thing off is that I can’t remember—"

He stopped when the King raised his hand to hit him. Asher sighed, putting it down. "Stop saying nonsense, you aren’t so stupid that you can’t remember things you did hours ago. He must have used magic on you."

Also Slime had never experienced magic so he wouldn’t know how it felt. Asher patted his bed and Slime sat there.

"So, you don’t remember anything about the witch, it’s probable you found something but he made you forget it. We have no way of knowing what it is."

Slime nodded. He didn’t think magic could be used like that. They were more dangerous than he thought.

"And my drug? Where you able to use it? Did you meet the officials of Black Claws like I said?"

Slime flattened his lips, not knowing how to break this last report. "I think... the drug was... stolen by him."

He quickly added, rattling. "He took my memories and made me go wild. It was the princess of Green Valleys that saved me and yes, I told the officials your message. Delta Sigma was surprisingly easy to talk to, and then I ate, and started coming back, then realized the drug wasn’t with me, and I couldn’t possibly go back, or I could go wild again and..."

Asher slapped his head lightly and Slime stopped his chain of words, biting his lower lip. "Forget it. I’d handle it from here." The King said.
