Chapter Hundred-Sixty-Eight – To Work In His Farm

As Cara had those thoughts, coupled with her irritation, her hand swung over Sigma’s face. "Shut up, you brat!"

There was silence.

Beta Cade reacted quickly, jumping from his seat to push his sister away as the sword reached her. The sword cut through his arm but he moved away.

Dylan’s eyes darkened on Cara, and his outstretched sword vibrated in his hands. "How dare you slap my Delta!"

Cade shielded his sister from him. He panted slightly. "Dylan... Dylan... calm down. Calm down."

He couldn’t fault the boy’s reaction. After all, he had special orders to take care of Sigma and now, his sister just hit the boy for no reason.

He glanced at the fool behind him who was looking at Dylan in fear. "You have some guts to hit a Delta, Cara! Is this being a good girl? I just told you now!"

Sigma rubbed where he was hit. It didn’t hurt. But hadn’t he spoken politely? Seriously, girls had anger issues. Anyone would bully him when the Prince wasn’t around.

He bent Dylan’s sword down. "It’s no big deal. Let it go."

Cara’s eyes shook in their sockets. That airhead was the Delta? She then felt the aura emanating from him.

Indeed he was. How did Prince Sorren do it?

He was responsible for the Beta and Delta and he didn’t even take any responsibility. Why did he do that?

Dylan returned his sword to its sheath and bowed. "I’m sorry for cutting you, Beta Cade."

Cara looked at the wound that her brother took for her. She fell to the ground, looking down. "I’m sorry, I’m really sorry, I didn’t know you were the Delta."

Even still. Did she just hit anyone? Cade clicked his tongue. Dylan wasn’t the only problem. If Prince Sorren find out about this, Cara will work in his farm forever.

Sigma pulled Dylan out of Cade’s place. "I’d leave the file. I might come for it later." He smiled, but he didn’t plan to. Maybe he could evade a little work with this.

Cade knew his plans but accepted it. "Don’t worry. I’d handle this one. You can go and rest, Sigma."

Sigma paused then smiled widely. "That’s good." he pulled Dylan out.

Cara raised a brow. Rest? Did her brother just tell him to rest from a slap? But she didn’t dare refute.

"I’m really sorry—"

"Just shut up!" Cara barked. "Knowing Sorren, he’d find a way to frustrate me too. You should even be punished for hitting a Delta but just wait for what Sorren will do."

Cara reduced in size in each statement. That Delta was so important to these people?

She remembered how that seemingly nonchalant warrior had stared at her like trash, while trying to cut her down. She could have really died.

And all she knew about the boy’s relationship with Prince Sorren was that he was fond of him, that’s all. She gulped down saliva, leaving the ground.

"I’d show myself to my room."

"You better." Her brother scoffed.

But Cara still stood there, her shoulder shook slightly. A tear slid down her eyes as she sniffed. Her hold on her dress tightened.

Cade slowly turned, looking worried. "Cara?"

She looked up with a wet face and wet eyes. "I’m really sorry, I didn’t want all these to happen and for Prince Sorren to frustrate you. I’m really sorry."

Cade’s lips parted, he made an ’hmm’ sound, going close to her. Her tears pulled at his heartstrings "It’s okay, it’s really okay."

He patted her back and pulled her to a hug. "Don’t cry, I’d just... settle it with Sorren."

"I’m really sorry..." Cara sniffed.

Cade exhaled, faulting himself for being so hard on her. She’s coming for the first time so probably didn’t know. Also, it was recently that Sigma became the Delta.

Meanwhile a hidden smirk hid on Cara’s face. It were an act, and she was versatile in shedding crocodile tears.

Her tears might not work on the Alpha, but they always worked on her older sister and twin brother. She was the youngest, after all.

Cade showed her to her room after she was calm. She held him back. "Did something happen to Jade? I haven’t seen her around."

Cade looked up. Should he tell her everything? But then, he decided against it. Basically, only the former maids of Green Valleys knew, and some warriors.

High Mountains didn’t need to know yet. That the Alpha broke off his engagement with Jade.

Still, since his sister will stay at Green Valleys for a while, and probably for a long while because returning will mean working at Sorren’s farm, he decided to give a hint.

"She’s at the prison rooms. Tell the guard that I gave you the permission." He took off his identification sword and handed it to her. "Show them when you go."

Cara took the item rather hastily and waited for her brother to leave before unsheathing it. It was a short curved sword with intricate designs.

She couldn’t believe such an important item was in her hand. She sped to the prison, using warriors to give her direction and getting permission to go into the prison.

She caught her scent, and a grin came to her face. She stood in front of her prison, but she got confused when she saw a bed and a tray of food. Also Jade held a book.

"This isn’t how a prison should be! Why do you get preferential treatment?"

Jade stared at the intruder that disturbed her reading, then back to her book.

Cara gritted her teeth. "Are you pretending not to know me? I’m Cara, Cade’s twin sister!"

Jade didn’t react, adjusting the hairpin she used as a page holder. Cara slapped the prison door. "Hey! Hey!"

The warriors outside looked in, and yelled at her. "Little Miss! If you are only going to yell there, then go home!"

Cara frowned. How dare they speak to her like that? Her brother was their Beta, but she bit in her annoyance.

Throwing one more look at Jade, she stomped out of the prison, clenching her fingers on the identification sword.

"I’d be back for you, werewolf bitch!"
