Chapter 153: Sword Training

Chapter Hundred-Fifty-Three – Sword Training

It was an awfully pleasant surprise. Baxter bit his lower lips, but would occasionally steal glances at his cousin, drafting a list for the warriors.

"You need quite a lot of swords." Sigma pointed out with a sigh. "Did the General confirm that he can teach sword training?"

Baxter nodded obediently. "He did. Also, in my last fight with the rogues, I realized that the warriors of Black Claws aren’t really good at it yet."

Sigma agreed. Why use sword when you had claws and a fist? The only reason the Alpha kept swords were because he was infiltrating Green Valleys.

The officials at Green Valleys were proficient in sword training and perhaps even the rogues around.

"Fifty should be enough then. We’re not plucking them from trees." Sigma crossed the ’eighty’ that was listed.

Baxter smiled. That’s okay. The warriors interested were only forty and he wanted to give them two each but it’s fine if there’s enough to go round, plus ten extra.

Still, Baxter couldn’t help but be all smiles. He knew his cousin was trained by Prince Sorren but he had no idea why. He had assumed he got adopted to the royal family.

He guessed the Prince got fond of his adorable little cousin, but before Sigma now, and realizing he’s the Delta to Black Claws, Baxter couldn’t help but smile foolishly.

He didn’t suspect why he had been close to Cade and the Alpha but now he knew.

Sigma exhaled, when he was done writing the quantity of armory. This should be Cade’s job but got pushed to him. "It’s all done. Submit it to the Alpha yourself."

Baxter made a ’hmm’ sound as he took the list. The Delta was supposed to submit it themselves but he’d do it not to stress his little cousin, being Delta was a hassle already.

"Oh and I think, ah..." Sigma left his seat. "I’d do it myself. Green Valleys have to submit their own list too. Who the hell is their lead warrior?"

Sigma had said the last part to himself but got an answer.

"Hmm, it’s a tall dark haired girl with pretty brown eyes. She occasionally holds a spear and you said she was Beta Cade’s maid before, right?"

Sigma frowned. "That one? Hmmm... I asked Cade her name but I forgot again. I’d just meet the princess directly."

Princess? Baxter thought hard if he had anything to do but he didn’t. "Can I follow you then? I can do the talking and writing since you seem tired."

It was a tempting offer, especially the writing part but Sigma didn’t want to walk around with him.

"And I can still submit it to the Alpha and say it’s your order." Baxter added when he noticed Sigma hesitate.

That did it. Sigma nodded. "Fine, fine. Let’s go. The princess always have a temper so try ignoring her when she does."

Baxter calculated that was how Green Valleys’ wolfesses were like, after his experience with Valkyrie.

They left the Delta’s quarters, heading to the Lead Warrior’s quarters they heard the princess stayed at.

The warriors in front of the quarters, peered at the Baxter intently before folding their arms in defiance. "The princess isn’t expecting a guest. As for Delta Sigma, he’s already an acquaintance to the princess so only him can come in."

Baxter folded his arms. "How dare you?"

The warriors huffed. "We are not scared of you, Lycan, so you better—"

Sigma pushed the two of them back, using them to throw the entrance door open. They passed out immediately.

Baxter’s lips parted. Such strength. But Sigma had a bored look, "We’d apologize later, let’s get this over with."

Some male servants at a quarter Baxter noticed, gave him dirty looks while standing by a young boy sword training.

Baxter paused to watch the young boy. The boy was truly skilled in the sword. Then another sword was given to him.

Baxter felt the swords looked familiar to the ones used to fight him in the cave but he dismissed it as the swords of Green Valleys were of similar designs.

"Hey, you are really good." He walked closer to the boy training. "Who taught you how to use—"

A sword was placed on his neck by one of the servants. The rest had swords, ready to draw. Baxter froze. Such hostility. Could the boy be an important person?

"That’s Green Valleys’ Beta. Alpha said he didn’t support the boy’s position but let it go." Sigma said behind Baxter.

He squinted his eyes at the boy who kept on training, ignoring the visitors.

Sigma remembered that the Alpha’s reason for not wanting the boy as Beta wasn’t his age, but because he was a direct descendant to a Green Valleys officials.

Unlike the Princess, the Alpha felt Green Valleys could start afresh with new officials, like Black Claws did.

The Beta and his family were killed. The Delta’s too. And almost for the Alpha’s. It was by sheer miracle the Lead warriors kids didn’t die.

But then, majority of the Green Valleys’ new officials were descendants of the old ones so the Alpha had to let it go.

"You should tell your servants to stand down, boy." Sigma told him since he had been ignoring it.

Ferdinand glanced at him. At the same time, his servants retracted their sword and stood by him. "It’s not polite to interrupt someone’s training, is it."

Sigma sighed, rubbing his head. "True." He pulled Baxter away. "Stop looking for trouble and they won’t bully you."

Baxter kept his eyes on the young Beta, whose gaze emanated hatred, but they weren’t directed at him, but as Sigma who pulled him away.

The Lead Warrior wondered why. He had interrupted the young Beta’s training, not his cousin, so why was the boy’s gaze on his cousin.

Ferdinand turned to the servants. "Next time you draw your swords, slash." His eyes dimmed on them. "But that’d be on my order, not your will."

They lowered their heads. "Yes, young master!"

Ferdinand looked back at the retreating Delta. He vividly remembered, that was the one who killed his mother.

Ferdinand’s last memory of his father, immediately after he had been kept at the grand hall’s basement, was his father wrestling with the young man.

Now, with his father dead and the lycan not losing a limb, it meant that the strength of this Delta lycan surpassed a Beta werewolf. Or his father was too drunk.

Possibly the latter since it’s common knowledge that the good and drinks at the ball were drugged.

So Ferdinand wanted a rematch. And he’d get it soon.
