Chapter 147: Elder Busu
Chapter Hundred-Forty-Seven – Elder Busu
Thankfully, Lisa didn’t notice the bracelet, if she did, she might have assumed it was one she owned as a princess.
Laurel stared at the jewelry, she didn’t know how it worked yet, hence her need for scapegoats.
After Elder Kuso, there was Elder Busu, Elder Uso and Elder Debu, Elder Baka. The five elders that helped her father during the reign of Green Valleys.
They were also the first to turn away from him, so now, she’d be playing a game of wits with them. The ones who had beaten her at the prison were the last three.
She planned to go to them with raised temper because they’d be taking a punch in their stomach before she would speak with them.
She sighted the cottage where Elder Busu always stayed at. That elder scared her as a young child, he probably would now, with how ugly yet perverted he acted.
As she got closer, she found some workers on the little farm surrounding the cottage. She smiled at them and would’ve greeted before they met her gaze.
A scowl came to her face instantly.
"You—"
Her hand went to the girl’s face sharply, slapping the hell out of it, and hoping her five fingers plastered on it.
The two boys tried running away but Laurel sped in front of them, pinning them to the wall of the cottage.
Their faces, even without those smirks, still annoyed her. The three omegas that had dared beat her up in prison. The ones who usually demeaned her and hurt Lena.
She didn’t have the guts to do anything before because she knew they belonged to someone powerful. Was that person Old man Busu?
She left the boys when their face turned red from no breaths. She turned to see the girl, kneeling, head on the ground. "Forgive our past actions, Princess Laurel."
The boys fell to the ground, doing the same, while holding their strained necks. "Forgive us, Princess."
She glared down at them. Such cowards at the end.
If only she’d been strong enough all those times. Perhaps Lena will rest now knowing she put them in their place.
The cottage door opened and an old hunched man looked out. He noticed his servants kneeling and stared at the girl towering above them.
Could she be one of the young officials the stubborn princess had appointed? His fellow elders had told him how Titus’s daughter had been appointing randomly.
For her to dare appoint an official without the elders’ approval, the old man didn’t plan to respect the official.
He licked his lips, his eyes changing to a predatory gaze. The official had a young beautiful body, one that made him curious to know what hid inside.
Laurel noticed his expression, and her hand went to his collar in the blink of an eye. He was ugly, with old age, and with that body, did he have to keep such character?
Elder Busu blinked, and she was till there, grabbing his collar. He blinked again.
This time a slap on his back made him realize he wasn’t dreaming. The slap came again and Laurel faked a smile. "Elder Busu, long time no see."
Those two slaps were how he usually said ’hello’ to her as kid, except they were on her butt. She didn’t want to curse her hands by touching his.
The Elder shook slightly. "Y-You are?"
"Don’t you remember? Princess Laurel." She dropped him when her hold had lifted him off the ground.
The old man chuckled nervously. He was finished if this was the princess. When did she grow so strong? He opened the door wider. "Come in. You three, bring—"
"I don’t want them inside." Laurel walked inside. "Also, our conversation will be short, Elder Busu, come."
The Elder swallowed down saliva. She wanted him to stay inside with her, all alone?
Staying alone with a young beautiful girl was a preferred choice but not one that could beat him up soundly.
He swallowed down saliva again, looking at his servants that still bowed, then closed the door and went to Laurel.
Laurel adjusted the crown on her wrist so the small stone in the middle will face her. Perhaps it’d react to a lie.
"Princess, I hope you are well." Elder Busu sat opposite her. "I hope you’ve been eating well."
He faked a wide smile, but Laurel didn’t reciprocate, her eyes were on her hand, then suddenly, she chuckled.
The elder nodded, hoping he somehow amused her.
But what Laurel found amusing was the emerald giving a light glow when he said he hoped she was well. If it could pick up such insignificant lie, then it could do more.
"Elder Busu, did you and those elders really disown our Kingdom to serve Lycans?"
The elder frowned. Who ever said that? "You might have heard wrongly, I haven’t even met those Lycans before."
Laurel knew he’d be telling the truth, and the emerald also confirmed by not glowing.
Elder Busu was a low ranked wolf, even as an elder, he couldn’t stand before Stefan like the other elders did.
"So what have you been doing for the people since our Kingdom fell to ruin?" she pointed at him, with the hand that didn’t have the bracelet.
"You wouldn’t believe it, your highness, but I’ve been quite ill for a while. I recently got better and what could—" he trailed off when the princess looked down.
The emerald didn’t glow so Laurel looked up again, she noticed his ugly eyes on her and sighed, maybe she shouldn’t look down so much or she’d sell her secret.
Werewolves held nothing against magic but if someone told their lycan rulers that she used magic, it could cause problems. She hid her bracelet with a part of her dress.
"Since you are better now, I’d be reinstating you under the new age of elders." She declared.
Her father also trusted Elder Busu more than the rest, and let him visit the palace often.
The man also lived a humble life in a cottage amidst the people, his major bad points were that he was repulsive to look at, and he was highly predatory, which made him unfit to be elder but Laurel had few choices.
Many who she wanted to elect as elders refused out of fear of the current elders. Laurel planned to really ’talk’ to them when she’d find them.
