Chapter 144: Who’d go?

Chapter Hundred-Forty-Four – Who’d go?

Damancas was currently the most profitable ally to export to. So ask a hunter to visit the kingdom and study the most sort out goods that are also available at Green Valleys.

That had been the summary of Darren’s advice to her yesterday. Laurel rubbed her neck, feeling it strained.

That kingdom had already shown their support for her, so it’d not take a while for her notice to be cleared and whoever she sent will be allowed in Damancas.

But the issue now was... who’d go? All of them?

Laurel stared at the four werewolfesses in front of her, all volunteering to go to Damancas, and have a thousand and one reason why it should be them.

Lia’s reason was, as a craftswoman, she had to have first hand experience in studying Damancas market so she’d know how to make her goods and price them.

The other three girls were warrior ranked, unlike Lia, and felt they could easily protect themselves from any danger in a strange kingdom.

The maximum for this journey was one, or Laurel would have let them all go, because all they wanted was an excuse to travel out of the pack.

There was a knock on the door, and the girls glared at the direction, wondering who else wanted to try and get the spot. Bebe walked in with a letter.

"Princess, there’s a letter for you." She had a serious expression. The other girls hadn’t seen her before so they stared at her curiously, Bebe didn’t look at them.

The stamp on the letter resembled the one that Lisa brought in yesterday, from Rolling Stones Pack.

Laurel took it and read it’s content. The Alpha’s words were overly friendly. Laurel guessed they were a small pack who became ally for their own protection.

Now, Green Valleys wasn’t one that could protect itself, more or less another pack. So why did the Alpha bother restore their alliance?

She looked up at Bebe, who still had her serious expression. "Is there a problem?"

"I didn’t know Green Valleys were allied with my pack, Rolling Stones." Bebe looked at the letter in her hand.

Laurel stared at it too. So this was from the female Beta turned Alpha? It felt disgusting to hold now.

"You didn’t tell me your pack name, and I don’t know which packs are allied with us."

Bebe’s expression released. "That’s true. Sorry."

Why did she apologize? Laurel smiled. "Well, I can definitely see how suspicious she is, trying to be friendly to get favor, I don’t even know what favor she wants."

Bebe could make a rough guess but she wasn’t sure, and even if she’s right, she had to be strong enough to make it not happen. She did promise Master Sorren.

She turned to the girls who had been staring at her. She was used to seeing scorn in people’s eyes when they looked at her.

The daughter of the late wicked Alpha, at her pack. The rogue girl, in the small villages she stayed at. The insignificant werewolfess, at High Moon Kingdom.

Only the princess had gazed at her like she was a person, since her mother died. And now these girls, just stared at her with curiosity, though rivalry laid underneath.

"I’m open to training with any of you, any day." She said to break the silence. An invitation to train together was her best shot at making friends.

Two girls broke their gaze on her, looking away.

That was a refusal, huh? Bebe shrugged.

"I will need extra hand in my store, that’s all." Lia offered, Bebe shook her head, chuckling nervously.

She noticed the last girl said nothing and met her lingering gaze. "I train rough. Can you handle it?"

Was that acceptance? Bebe turned to Laurel, who smiled, then back to the girl. "I can handle it."

Bebe could sense that she was warrior ranked but they could be something else, and it excited her.

The girl hummed, turning away. "I’d forfeit the journey to Damancas. Found a new plaything... training partner."

Bebe heard the other girls chuckle. Was the girl that tough to call her training partners, plaything? It excited Bebe more. "I’m off too!" she ran out with the girl.

Laurel breathed out. At least, Bebe’s attempt at making friends took one volunteer.

"I’d let you all know when it’s due. If you become uninterested before then, please let me know."

The girls nodded and rushed out of the room, feeling hopeful. Laurel followed them out, and made sure they left before closing the door and falling on it.

"Now, which one will I choose?" her eyes expanded.

She sighed, pushing that matter to the back of her head. There’s been another matter that stressed her out recently. Valkyrie bringing in a half dead lycan.

According to the girls, the Lycan arrived recently from High Mountains, then was sent on an errand by the Alpha.

Laurel’s question was why an errand from his Alpha had to involve Green Valleys’ lead warrior, and without her permission. That lycan should’ve really died.

But that could only be wishful thinking, if he had died with Valkyrie, there’s no telling what she could be accused of.

"On the contrary, if this lycan survive, we can use it to get another favor from these Lycans." Laurel rubbed her jaw.

The last favor Jessika garnered from the Alpha had kept her in good standing with them, especially Beta Cade, and had also made Jade’s case believable.

If Valkyrie got one, it’d be a step closer.

"If this one stupidly falls in love with Valkyrie, that’d be even better." Laurel mused. "But they may not, so having intense gratitude is good enough."

"Princess!"

Laurel opened the door she had been leaning on.

"Did Bebe tell you?" it was Jessika. "Prince Sorren had been taken to High Mountains and his quarters replaced by the lead warrior."

That meant the ass survived, right? The lead warrior would be one heck of a fighter.

"Bebe told me. I’ve finished playing my cards with Sorren, he will be missed." She said plainly. "Also, we should avoid that lead warrior."

Only Valkyrie could go close as she had garnered favor. They’d have to use these Lycans to attain independence somehow.
