Chapter 131: Infiltrate
Chapter Hundred-Thirty-One – Infiltrate
(Snow Top Mountain)
The path of a King could only be experienced, no book could explain it abundantly. Asher finished writing all the letters to be sent to the exporters.
It was by being King that he realized, High Moon spent a lot on the gold they imported from a small werewolf pack which got lucky to be situated by a gold mine.
"Why don’t we invade the place and take the land ourselves?" he mumbled as he looked through their logs.
His eyes stopped at the information on one of the pack’s strong allies. Damancas.
That should be why no one had suggested invading the pack. A powerful Kingdom supported it.
"Well, destroy Damancas too." He sighed, closing the logs and leaving his seat. His official advisor looked up from his desk but looked away. The King should just do as he liked.
"King Asher—" Nero paused when Asher passed him. Did the King have somewhere to go? The lab? Nero chased after him. He should at least change out of Kingly attire.
"Have you been checking it?"
Nero nodded. The King’s last experiment that he finished with the blood of the wolfess at the Lycan Meeting. It could go into the black market with how needful it was.
Being able to curb heat will be a blessing, it could reduce the number of pups in the kingdom but that’d be good too.
On entering the mountain, Nero noticed the Fang Cult Members in a straight line, waiting for Asher. He wore a distasteful expression.
Despite his life being saved by a Fang member, and despite being a former Fang member, Nero wasn’t still fond of the cult.
Mostly because the new members were more unhinged than the ones that existed while he was with them.
Coupled with the King that had no restraint, if he used them for his work, it’d have really gory results.
Asher stood in front of one, who looked like the leader. "You said you have a way to infiltrate Lunaria?"
Nero’s jaw dropped. Infiltrate Lunaria? Had the King gone mad? But then, he wasn’t the one going on the mission so had Fang also gone mad?
They were all Lycans and a witch, the worst enemies to Lunaria, a werewolf kingdom with bred Lycans. What will they do if they got caught?
"It shouldn’t bother me anyway." He mumbled, scanning the members planning to go. He’d probably see them for the last time.
"Yes, we are. We have a job to kill two bred Lycans there, I think they’re top brass of some sort. I’d also find the one that attacked you on that night."
Nero shook his head. This will totally fail.
"I’m following them." He heard in his consciousness. A frown crept to his face, he left Asher and stomped into the lab. "Nene, you are joking. Don’t even think about it—"
Before he gave a reply in mind link, a door opened by his side. "I’m following them." His twin sister repeated out loud, while adjusting her leather suit.
"And I said you’re—"
"But I’m not getting into Lunaria. I’d be with her till Fang finish their job. I have to make sure they don’t abandon the King’s job." Nene added, holding a young girl, the witch.
Nero stared at the small witch with lidded eyes. She had healing magic so was crucial to the team, but if push comes to pull, she couldn’t protect herself or his Nene.
"Well, don’t get into Lunaria and make sure you return when they die... if they die." Nero quickly rephrased. The witch giggled and he rolled his eyes.
Nene pulled the witch along with her. "Don’t worry, I won’t return to you in a pathetic state like you did to me."
Nero scoffed and the witch made the weird giggle again.
Nene reached the other members of Fang and bowed before Asher. "I’d return by evening with the report."
He made an ’hmm’ sound and looked her over before saying. "You can also come back, without reports."
She kept her head low. Was it his way of saying return safely? He strolled into the lab and she smirked.
The Fang members began heading out. She followed, but stayed behind, with the witch. They wouldn’t be going inside anyway. She noticed one of them slow down.
"How does it feel to be part of us?"
Nene frowned at the blond young man. "I’m not part of you, I’m just following my King’s orders—"
"Orders, yes!" he finished, with a grin. "I forgot, you are now the King’s dog, you and Nero. What a shame."
She stared at him with lidded eyes, what that supposed to annoy her? Was he trying to annoy her? "Are you done?"
The blond young man’s grin fell. "Well,... yeah."
"Good, then hurry. This mission should be done before midnight or this King’s dog will tell the King of how useless Fang is." Nene pointed ahead. "Now, scram!"
The blond huffed, before walking ahead and staying by the leader. The witch patted Nene’s head, smiling.
Nene lifted the witch’s small body to her back. "Let’s walk faster too, Victoria." She sighed. "And stop patting me."
In half an hour, they reached the border of Lunaria.
Victoria became restless so Nene had to put her down, she glared at her small body.
The witch was fourteen so got treated her like a child but she was still a handful sometimes. "You want to walk now? We are already close." Nene frowned.
Victoria looked down from the cliff they were on, she could see it, but she knew her team members, who were already creeping towards it, wouldn’t see it.
She opened her mouth to speak but her team leader walked in and the rest followed him.
Nene pulled her down from the cliff. They weren’t going in but they need to be close.
"Witch." she heard Victoria whisper.
"Witch?" Nene repeated.
Victoria pulled her hand from Nene’s hold and shouted at the rest. "Everyone! They are witches here! And you’ve walked into their barrier! They know you’re here—"
There was an explosion, making her fall back. The loud bang also drowned her scream, and the smoke blinded her sight. Victoria froze, breathing heavily.
"Witches! Witches! They’re here!"
