Chapter Hundred-Twenty-Six – A Witch
Stefan froze on seeing the young man close to his mate. Something stirred in him but he held himself.
He released his hand from the door knob and tried advancing but a cladded figure came before him.
"Don’t take another step." The voice was female and calm but had authority. "Second Prince of Damancas is having a private meeting with the Princess of Green Valleys."
That was Stefan’s point. Why did a Prince of Damancas come all the way from there and didn’t stop by his place first?
He had thought it was to intimidate Laurel or force her to sign some kind of treaty now she recovered her pack.
He clenched his fists. But it seemed to be the opposite. He wasn’t needed. She didn’t need him.
"When you’re done, I’d appreciate the Prince paying me a visit as well." Stefan faked a smile, before leaving them.
Now he’s done it. Prince Kiad slowly left Laurel and replaced his butt on his seat. Now he had garnered the Lycan Alpha’s attention!
His plan had been – deliver the message, flirt a bit, then return home – but now, he’d have to make a detour to a Lycan first. One that didn’t seem happy with him.
He glanced at the witch by his side. If she was with him, it’d make him more confident.
Laurel returned to her seat, wondering what the hell just happened. Did the Prince try to seduce her? Surely he wouldn’t be that basic.
She might have almost no experience with men but that made her immune to all those advances.
All the important men in her life had left her heart in shatters, so she’d not be inviting more. "So, Prince Kiad, once again, I really appreciate your visit here."
Prince Kiad nodded, he cleared his throat and gestured. "Bring it here, please."
The cladded figure nodded. Before Laurel’s eyes, the figure’s body glowed green and then disappeared. Laurel left her seat and moved back. What the hell was that?
Seeing her frightened expression, the Prince smirked. "This should be your first time seeing a witch, isn’t it?"
Laurel’s eyes shook in their sockets. A witch?
The cladded figure returned to that same position with a golden chest in hands. They came closer to the table and dropped it, before walking back to their position.
"We came into the pack light, in case we needed to leave quickly. Here, gifts for your hardwork." The Prince shifted the box to her.
Laurel’s eyes remain on the cladded figure as she slowly returned to her seat, a small frown came to her face. "Why did you bring a witch to—’"
"A pack of Lycans?" Prince Kiad finished. "Well, because I didn’t want to be attacked. Lycans have bad history with Damancas. This witch, Gyra, she’s calm though."
Laurel had to agree. Her eyes went to the cladded figure again. Honestly, she was curious about her magic but the princess rather keep her identity secret till they leave.
"Oh, but Alpha Stefan asked you to visit him—"
"I don’t plan to." Prince Kiad left his seat. "I guess we will just have to leave through teleportation, Gyra."
Teleportation? Laurel looked at the spot the witch stood. Could she have drawn a teleportation circle there before she arrived or the witch didn’t need to draw a circle?
"Very well, my Prince." The witch bowed.
Prince Kiad smiled at Laurel. "Maybe, next time we meet, I’d discuss my proposal again. Till then."
Laurel stood up, and bowed even if she had no idea what he meant. She watched his body glow along with the witch’s.
The Prince’s position wasn’t close to Gyra so they weren’t using a circle. They both vanished in front of her.
A shiver ran down spine and she collapsed on her seat. Witches were terrifying, they could easily grab a Lycan and teleport him to their base to torture him.
"I don’t think one should come in here again. I don’t want Stefan thinking I had allies that threaten his people." Laurel rubbed her face. "Things should be calm for now."
Meanwhile, somewhere in the forest close to High Mountains, the witch and Prince Kiad reappeared in front of a grand carriage with two horses and a rider.
The rider bowed to the Prince and to witch. "I’m ready to move, your highness. Actually, there’s a—"
Prince Kiad felt it too. There were Lycans around them. He looked at a vast land with broken walls and buildings. Could the place be having new owners?
"Oh, a witch."
The Prince’s skin crawled and he was immediately pulled back, the witch rushed in front of him.
A glowing light illuminated from her hand which she placed at the neck of the person who sneaked on them.
Sorren looked a bit flustered, before exhaling. How would he have known that a Prince of Damancas came to visit when he was at High Mountains? "This sucks."
Prince Kiad shivered slightly, taking steps back. How did the Lycan sneak behind them without the witch realizing? Without him realizing?
If the Lycan had striked, wouldn’t he be dead before he’d understand he was being attacked?
"Put this down a bit." Sorren took the witch’s hand down, much to her surprise. "I don’t like people touching me."
Prince Kiad gritted his teeth, glaring as Sorren advanced towards him. He glanced at the witch and found a small smile on her face.
Did she mean the Lycan wasn’t a threat? Prince Kiad stopped taking steps back, feigning bravery.
Sorren placed his hand on his shoulder. "I know you didn’t come to see us but rather the Green Valleys’ Princess. But next time, send a notice to the Alpha, okay?"
Kiad scoffed. "I-I have no intentions of seeing the Alpha."
Sorren faked a smile. "He wouldn’t want to see you either but it’s for formality. I understand forgetting today, I did make such mistake recently. But for next time, okay?"
"Whatever." Prince Kiad shoved his hand off his shoulder. "Maybe, by the time I’d return, they’ve recovered their pack fully and you guys don’t have a place."
Sorren chuckled. "I highly doubt that but you can live in your dreams, good bye then, Prince Kiad."
The Prince scowled. How did a Lycan know his name? He huffed, climbing into the carriage. "Let’s get out, Gyra!" He should just leave already.
