Chapter 125: Second Prince

Chapter Hundred-Twenty-Five – Second Prince

The letter only arrived that morning and now, she’d be meeting him. The second Prince of Damancas.

Laurel scrubbed her body in the bath. She didn’t think she still smelt but for goddess’ sake, she had been in prison for long and then lived as a maid. If she did smell, no maid will know because it’s probably a common smell.

But this was a Prince of a powerful Kingdom, he’d surely look down on her if she didn’t have the aura of a princess.

"How did Princesses act again?" She asked Elma as she scrubbed. "I think I’ve to bow to him or will he bow first?"

Either ways, when she’d meet him, she’d let him speak first and state his purpose. Having a messenger from Damancas after regaining her pack must be a good thing.

She let her hair pour over her shoulders again, other times she kept it in a bun as it was easier to manage. She glazed over her gowns and picked the longest.

Her height had added a bit, it’d be better to wear something that’d not look too skimpy.

After smearing her lips with ointment, Laurel walked out of the closest, spinning in front of Mira and Marino. "So?"

The twins just stared at her blankly.

"Well, I didn’t think you’d know much about it either." She dusted the dress even if it wasn’t dusty. "I just need confidence, charisma,... grace, poise... princessy things?"

Her shoulders fell. It’s embarrassing how few weeks ago she had been bragging to King Asher about being a princess but now, that she’d actually in front of someone who knew her as one, she pulled a blank.

There was a knock on the door. "Princess, you have a really handsome guest. And don’t worry about what to wear, I told him you’d be wearing your sleeping wears."

What? Laurel quickly opened the door, staring at Lisa horridly. "Why will I be wearing sleeping wears in the afternoon and can’t I change to meet a guest?"

Lisa backed away, a pout on her lips. "I-I was trying to help so you’d not feel bad about wearing wrong clothes."

Laurel grunted and pushed her inside the room. "You are on twin watch duty! Don’t take them out of your sight!"

Lisa placed her hand on her chest. "Yes, Princess!"

The princess dashed to the room the guest waited in, she slowed down when she got close. Readjusting her hair, she gently opened the door and walked in.

Her green eyes immediately connected with his hazel ones causing her stomach to twist. She looked away, closing the door behind her.

She gazed at him again and their eyes locked.

Beautiful dark locks flowed from his smooth shaped face down to his broad shoulders. His red plump lips were in a small pout as looked curious.

Even if he was seated, she could tell he was tall and with a well built body. There was a cladded figure in the room but Laurel easily ignored it.

The Prince’s gaze on her was intense but Laurel could sense the curiosity behind them.

She shouldn’t still be nervous around attractive men after being cursed with Sorren, but then every attractive man had their own charm, didn’t they?

"Are we done staring at each other?" the Prince’s voice boomed, he leaned back on the chair.

Laurel smiled. Should that be his first words to her? "Well, I guess we’re done. Let’s get down to business." She sat besides him, keeping their eyes connected.

The second Prince frowned slightly. He hadn’t expected her response. Usually when he called girls’ attention to checking him out, they blushed or the bold ones flirt back.

But this Princess only accused him of doing the same and in a casually neutral way. His lips curved upwards. That was interesting. "So, Princess Laurel?"

"Yes, and your name? I believe you’re the Second Prince of Damancas but a name wouldn’t be so bad, would it?"

Laurel couldn’t be sure if she was being princessy but as long as the conversation flowed and the Prince relayed his message to her, that’s all that mattered.

"Kiad, Prince Kiad." The Second Prince replied with a head tilt. "You must already guess, my father and my mother sends their praises for your amazing feat."

Laurel knew but hearing it directly made her skin grow goosebumps, she gripped her skirt.

Perhaps it was excitement from being complimented by someone higher than her. A sense of achievement her father could never give her.

Or it was burning pressure that she had to get her acts together and keep being impressive.

She released her grip from my skirt and looked at Prince Kiad. "Extend my gratitude to the King and Queen for me. Of course, I plan to keep doing my best."

Prince Kiad made a ’hmm’ sound, propping his chin with one hand. He was sure she had panicked after he relayed his parents’ praise.

Every wise person will instantly realize the pressure such praise came with. But Prince Kiad also witnessed her accept everything and reply to it.

That was unusually brave, something he couldn’t do. He always succumbed to pressure hence, decided not to do anything at all, so he wouldn’t fail.

The only meatheads he’d seen accept pressure and a challenge was Arcadia and her twin, Arian. Those two had always been built differently since he knew them as kids.

"I’d do so, Princess." The Prince left his seat. "Lest I add, there’s another interesting proposal I have for you."

Proposal? Laurel stood up. Did the King and Queen of Damancas want her to do something for them?

She blinked when she suddenly saw Prince Kiad in front of her, their faces were close. She stepped back till her back hit against the wall.

He was too close, his scent infiltrated her nose and Laurel panicked, looking at the cladded figure to do something. Could she throw a Prince away?

"This is a different proposal, Princess." The Prince played with her hair. "Will you be my bri—"

The door to their room opened. Laurel’s heart flew to her mouth. What in hell was he doing there at this time?

Stefan froze, seeing the strange man close to his mate. He gripped the door handle. Something stirred in him.
