Chapter 116: Notice

Chapter Hundred-Sixteen – Notice

Sorren left Bebe and Sigma to watch his quarters while he strolled out. He noticed the guards whispering and snuck close to eavesdrop.

"Really? That Princess slapped a guard?"

"Yes, he tried to ask her where she went to but she yelled at him and slapped him. Goddess, she’s so daring but I can’t even talk to her to save my head."

Sorren smirked. That princess had always been a haughty one. Luckily for her, she had a working brain and was good with words to get her out of situations.

"Prince Sorren! Prince Sorren!" he heard some cooks calling. "You finally came back! We missed you!"

Sorren exhaled, before walking away quickly. In no time, he crossed the border of the pack, ignoring the curious glances the border guards were giving him.

He had to make sure of something, before he’d forget again. The attack that happened bothered him because it could have killed Sigma if it were so grand scale.

How did such a large group of warriors get so close to their pack without their guard noticing? He looked back and still saw the head of goddess-knows-who up there.

"Take that thing down! It’s a sore sight!" he ordered.

The border guards nodded, and made arrangements to climb up. Sorren continued into the forest.

There’s only one place he could think of that’d house such warriors and wouldn’t be suspected – their dear ally.

Sorren felt the air around him change as he marched towards the place. The place has began to change.

It should be a vast land filled with abandoned houses and a huge disarrayed mansion in the middle.

But some houses, especially the ones closer to the huge mansion, were cleaned out and seemed habited.

Someone ran on the roofs, Sorren noticed they were watching him as he strolled in. Should he have written a notice to say he was visiting? "Ah, right. I should have."

The person jumped down, holding a small knife steadily by his side. Sorren could guess he was a young boy of Sigma’s age but smaller than Sigma.

"Who are you? And who did you come to see?" the boy’s tone was calm, despite the anger obviously brewing in his eyes.

He could tell the man before him was a Lycan but it was even more reason to be calm around him.

"Prince Sorren of Black Claws. Honestly, I just realized I didn’t send a notice of my visit." Sorren touched his head.

The young boy held his knife strongly. "So, will you return to do that?"

Sorren smirked. "Why should I? I’m already here."

The knife in the boy’s hand swirled and he positioned, ready to attack. "Well, that’s the same as infiltrating our land without permission. And there are consequences—"

Sorren’s smile fell and he left the boy’s sight. It took a second for the boy to realize, he turned back, and raised an alarm. "Father! Intruder! Intruder!"

"Dramatic entry you had there." Sorren heard behind him. He sat on the window to the mansion. He looked down at the young man seated inside drinking tea.

"Well, I forgot to send a note and he made it sound like a big deal." Sorren scratched his head. "I hate that I forget a lot these days. Is it old age already? I’m still twenty."

Darren chuckled softly. This one must be the difficult brother of the Alpha. "Come in. I’m curious of your visit."

Sorren jumped into the building. He was curious? Only curious? If he had anything to do with the recent attack then he should also be worried.

"I’d go straight to point to satiate your curiosity then." Sorren sat opposite Darren. "Did you hoard those men who recently attacked our pack?"

Darren dropped his cup of tea and met Sorren’s intent gaze, he smiled unknowingly. "You are a really a good looking man."

Sorren sighed, his gaze faltering. "Th-Thank you but that was not what I asked."

"Sorry, I just noticed." Darren cleared his throat. "Well, since your pack attacked Green Valleys, I’ve been keeping the refuges and victims of war."

Sorren hummed, keeping his hands on the table. "So you don’t deny it." That’s an interesting approach.

"Why will I? If I should add, I don’t support the attack to your pack. When I heard of it, it was too late and already the day of the attack." Darren held his cup.

Sorren studied his expression. He couldn’t tell if the man lied or not. Perhaps all he had said was true but there was still something underlying.

"You could have warned us. You’re our ally. Or do you have problems sending notices too?" Sorren asked.

Darren chuckled, leaving his seat. "The Alpha was away and as I said the attack was already about to happen."

"So you decided to just let it happened?" Sorren watched the man pace about.

"Yes."

Sorren frowned. "Yes?"

Darren faced him. "You attacked their pack, wouldn’t it be unfair if I sabotaged their plan? I doubt it’d have changed anything. They were bound to fail."

Sorren couldn’t find the words. So what the man before he meant was, the warriors attacked of their own decision and he left them to attack his ally because it’s fair?

Darren began questioning himself when Sorren flashed a smile at him. He didn’t mind his response?

"If you had denied any involvement, it’d have put you in trouble because I wouldn’t buy it." Sorren left his seat. "But I understand revenge. I speak that language too."

Darren sighed. "You shouldn’t threaten me when you’re in my land, you know. I don’t care about Green Valleys but their Alpha’s spirit exist in the warriors. Reckless power."

Reckless Power? Sorren nodded. That existed in Laurel too. "Then I should let you know, their princess argued it out with the officials. Green Valleys now exist under Black Claws."

Darren froze, before turning to Sorren. "Laurel?"

Sorren raised a brow. How did he know her know? He peered at the man. "Hmm, Princess Laurel? You know her?

Darren looked away. "Didn’t I say she was promised to me in exchange of the land? Why wouldn’t I know her?"

Sorren let it slide. "Either ways, if you still have any more of these ’refugees’, kindly tell them to desist from attacking. Their pack has a place."

"The warriors didn’t die in vain then."

Sorren frowned. "The attack had nothing to do with our decision. The princess handled it herself."

"Young man," Darren smirked, "You might not know, but I’m sure one of you had unsettling fear in your hearts. Maybe the Beta? You weren’t there when it happened."

Was the attack such grand scale? Sorren stepped away from Darren. He remembered that Cade dared to openly disagree with Stefan when it was suggested at first.

Did the attack affect even Cade that much? "Well, then. I’d take my leave. I hope we keep being understanding."

Darren made a small bow. "Extend my congratulations to the princess Laurel as well."

Sorren shrugged. "Hope I don’t forget again."
