Chapter 109: Disbelief

Chapter Hundred-Nine – Disbelief

Frida glowered at the princess in distaste. How dare she act like she had gone through the worst things in the world?

She hurried away from her presence ignoring all she said.

Laurel wiped her face, cursing internally for crying in front of Frida. The bitch wouldn’t get it. They should never think Lycans, a whole specie, was their opponent.

That’d set the stage for all the Lycans in the world; the ones that want war with werewolves, the ones that didn’t, even the Werewolves who’d side with Lycans.

It’d never end.

"Let’s go back, Bebe. You’d be staying with Sorren. Don’t come out much. You aren’t an official pack member so your rogue scent could put you in trouble."

Bebe touched the charm. "Can’t I keep it? Sorren will avoid me too if my rogue scent gets out."

That was true. Laurel sighed. If only she could ask Darren for another one. She wiped her face again then breathed into her palm and rubbed her head.

She’d return to the pack and face everything. There would be no more breakdowns from her. A princess should be stronger than that. She left Darren’s place with Bebe.

She hoped Jessika and the maids didn’t get hurt. A thick stench of blood hit her nose and her pace quickened. She didn’t think the fight would get into the forest.

Blood splattered everywhere. She remembered the spot where she trained with Jessika before her travel.

The bodies might be cleared out but the blood and footsteps remained. Her breaths came out heavily but she did her best to regulate them.

She must have no more breakdowns.

Stiffening her heart, she marched out of the forest and stared at the entrance of Black Claws.

She blinked rapidly not wanting to believe the sight before her, her lips tightened. A bloodied head hung at the gate. A head of Marcus, Lena’s older brother.

Laurel’s eyes became distant, empty and a sardonic smile crept to her face. So Lena’s bloodline died at the end.

Even after bringing him from the maids quarters, he sneaked back in. Her breathing regulated. She would accept everything, she will be that strong.

Bebe took her eyes from the head and looked around the pack she walked into.

There were many scary things about it but the scariest should be how everywhere was calm even after a huge fight that took lives happened.

Perhaps the fear, the people hurdled in their homes due to fear. It mirrored the reactions of her pack when her mother was pronounced dead and the Beta took over.

"I’d be taking you straight to Sorren’s place. Hopefully they’re back." Laurel said, keeping her head straight ahead.

Bebe glanced at her. She didn’t seem okay. But toughing it out had always been the princess’ strong point. Heading into danger while acting like it’s not dangerous.

She only stayed with Laurel few days to realize that was her attitude to situations. It would be no doubt laced with a painful past.

There were guards in front of Sorren’s quarters, the carriage packed in front of it. Laurel made a small bow. "I came to return a guest of Prince Sorren."

She could clearly see it, the burning hatred in the eyes of the guards. Surely, the attack took some of their men. That’d be the only reason they celebrated the victory by keeping a head at the gate. They lost men too.

"You should’ve died wherever you were." One of them spat. "What are you still doing here dressed like that!"

Her mood wasn’t one for games. Laurel’s eyes shifted to the man. "Will you open the gate for Prince Sorren’s guest or not? Don’t keep me waiting—"

A slap landed on her face, making her cheeks sting. One pulled her hair. "How dare you? You think we care what you think?"

Bebe wanted to react but Laurel stopped her. The guards were riled up after the deaths of their comrades. She had no place to scold them since she was their princess.

Still, there’s no harm in doing what she’d regret later.

Her claws slowly crawled and in a split second, she gave a three claw mark on the faces of the three guards.

Before they screamed, Bebe kicked them to the ground. Their screams were muffled by sand getting into their mouth. "Thank her for not taking your eyes out too!"

Laurel pushed the entrance door opened. Another awful stench of dried blood and corpses greeted her nose.

Of course, the corpses will be brought by Sigma for Sorren to use for his garden.

In a way, Laurel found it better than the corpse rotting on open land. At least, they get the chance to be flowers.

She knocked on the door to the building. "Sorren, I brought Bebe. I’d leave her here till you’re ready—"

The door opened. Sorren hands were on his hair trying to take off the beads stuck there.

He studied Laurel, before opening the door wider. "You two should come in."

His eyes went to the guards sprawled on the ground with bleeding faces. He stared at them indifferently. He didn’t even want guards. He slammed the door.

Bebe swirled, looking around the place with earthen designs. She’d definitely get used to living there.

Laurel couldn’t feel her amusement, only a hole were in her heart. She noticed Sorren seat besides her.

"You left the carriage. To where?"

Must she answer that? "I followed who attacked us, of course." She told him. "I never found them so I returned here. I had taken Bebe with me. She passed out."

With her straight face having no emotion, her words came like the truth. But she wouldn’t be so sure since she’s dealing with Sorren.

"Hmm." Sorren left her back, strolling into another room.

Bebe jumped towards her. "There’s no mistress here, right? Why are they so many jewels! I love it!"

Laurel forced a really small smile.

Bebe felt guilty for forcing her so skipped away again, looking at the place. The princess tried to regulate her breaching again.

Showing she were in a bad mood was wrong too. This didn’t happen because of her. Those warriors made a bad decision and died.

Probably, they knew they’d die yet ventured into it. She wouldn’t mourn over their bravery.

At least, it showed that Green Valleys didn’t go down as easily as the Lycans might have thought.

With that new confidence, Laurel forced a better smile. "Do you like here, Bebe? Well, you’d probably spend more time in the garden working. He’s very lazy."

Bebe smiled on seeing the princess return to her usual self again. "Sure! I’d do my best!"
