Chapter 103: Her Story

Chapter Hundred-Three – Her Story

Someone knew her secret, Laurel couldn’t help but panic. Then did Zara know she was a werewolf when she said all that, even while asking her for her scent?

The man then spoke again. "I can’t tell Lady Zara." It made Laurel calm down.

"A werewolf that infiltrated this place could be killed. Her case might not be like mine."

Was he a werewolf too? Laurel wondered.

"If not that I was a witch, Lady Zara would have killed me long ago." The man sighed, picking Laurel from the ground "Lets keep the charm close to you for your protection."

Laurel felt the charm get hidden under her dress. She hated that the man kept going down there but there was nothing she could do.

She felt nothing other than being carried till she was laid on the soft bed that she woke up in.

Laurel opened her eyes, stopping the flow of the memories. So the man was a witch, and werewolf, inside a Lycan Kingdom?!

That was very very dangerous.

Werewolves and Lycans don’t mix, but Witches and Lycans wouldn’t even think of mixing!

Witches were powerful enough to defeat Lycans with just their supernatural powers.

Even if they were werewolves, they usually swapped their wolves in exchange for powers, only rare cases do they still have a wolf and have powers.

Those rare types of witches become extremely powerful, as well as good fighters. Lycans become their plaything.

So it was a good thing for Lycans when witches only stayed at Damancas as that’s where the first witch was born and died. Only very few left when they get banished.

Witches barely travelled, and they usually marry a fellow witch or powerful werewolves. Their supernatural powers could be transferred to their offspring but if the offspring didn’t practice with it, it’d remain dormant in them.

There was a sound of opening door. Laurel snapped from her thoughts. Stefan and food was back. She jumped out of the bed but slid on a blanket and fell face down.

The werewolfess chuckled and Laurel paused. Was she laughing at her? "You should eat too." Laurel smiled, getting up.

The girl had adorned her hair with all sorts of hairpins and wore a shawl over her dress, it didn’t fit but she looked happy. She nodded happily. "I’d eat."

At least she should be fifteen. Laurel folded her arms. What had such a young girl been doing in High Moon? Maybe it was time to time to ask her questions.

She inched close to her. "So, tell me. Did you run away from home? Where do you actually live?"

The girl’s mood changed, she fondled with her dress. "I-I don’t know. I can’t remember where... I used to live."

Laurel knew she lied but they should be good reasons. No werewolf would get close to a Lycan Kingdom unless they had no choice.

"Where did you get captured..." Laurel trailed off.

For the first time she tried to feel the girl’s aura to determine her rank, and she found the girl was warrior ranked. A fifteen year old?

Which meant one thing, she’s an Alpha’s daughter. Perhaps she didn’t train much so her rank stayed at the basic rank for Alpha’s children.

Did she get treated badly at home so she ran away?

"Where’s your father?" Laurel asked.

The werewolfess shook her head. "I never knew my biological father."

"Your mother?"

The girl’s eyes began to water. "They killed my mother!"

The outburst stunned Laurel, she hesitated before patting the girl. Why did it always have to be the mothers they killed? "What happened?"

The girl sniffed, shaking her head. "I don’t know why."

That wasn’t what she asked but Laurel nodded.

"My mother was a good Alpha but then her Beta took over and killed my mother. I don’t know why. Did they argue? I don’t know." The girl cried.

Her mother had been an Alpha? Laurel frowned.

Why did the moon goddess let such a powerful lady be betrayed like that. "When did this happen? What pack are you from?"

"It’s been three years. My mother’s husband married the Beta, I mean the new Alpha and she is horrible." The girl pouted. "I don’t like staying there."

Her mother’s husband was probably in on everything. And the Beta was also a female? Laurel patted her shoulders. "You really don’t want to say where you are from?"

"It doesn’t matter. We are a small pack that barely holds on. Some of us have turned to petty thieves. The pack is far from here. Maybe a day’s ride." The girl said.

From her tone, Laurel could tell she didn’t want anything to do with the pack. But as an Alpha’s daughter, she might be just the only redemption for her pack.

"What’s your name?"

The girl smiled at bit. "My mom calls me Bebe. I don’t know if I have another one."

Laurel’s face turned to a scowl. What’s a Bebe? But she wiped the scowl off immediately the girl looked at her.

"Okay, Bebe, let’s go to eat—" there was a knock on the door.

"Yes, I’d be out there soon." Laurel said to whoever.

Bebe tapped her and she looked back to her. "Princess, who are those handsome men with you? They are scary but they seem nice." Her cheeks were red as she spoke.

"I told you didn’t I? Forget about them. One is waiting for his mate to be born and the other hates his mate but hasn’t decided her fate. Complicated brothers, those two."

"Hmm, they are brothers, huh? Really handsome brothers." The girl smiled.

Laurel raised a brow. Did the girl hear any other thing she said? "Well, let’s go eat. We might be leaving soon."

They walked out of the room and Laurel found that Stefan and Sorren weren’t in. She pointed at a plate. "Take it inside for both of us. We’d share."

Bebe nodded grabbing a plate and rushing inside.

Laurel went towards the entrance of the courtyard, she quickly hid behind a wall on seeing her. "S-She came...?"

"Ah, I saw you Laurel. I came to say hi after you left." Zara waved. She glanced at Sorren who intently studied the booklet she gave him. "Everything about the plant is there. Now, have time for me?"

Stefan groaned. When did Sorren have such a deal with her? He noticed Laurel peek again then hide back. Was she watching him?

He noticed her again, and at that point, Zara wrapped her arms around his shoulders. Stefan saw Laurel frown then hide again.

Was she annoyed at Zara’s behavior towards him? In any way, was she jealous? He pulled Zara’s hands from his shoulders.

Laurel shook her head. Why was Zara playing around Stefan, wasn’t it Sorren she was interested in?

She smirked. "Well, if she’s trying to take both brothers, that’s an even smarter move. I don’t care."

Her smile slowly fell as she returned to the room. She did care a bit.
