Chapter 1184: Chapter 0687: Millennium Corpse Water_2 Chapter 1184: Chapter 0687: Millennium Corpse Water_2 Qi Tian glanced at Emperor Yonghe and said, “Do you want to go up and help?”

Emperor Yonghe of course wanted to go up, but he felt embarrassed to do so; after all, during the drawing of lots, his assigned task wasn’t this one. Now, if he went over to fight those puppets, on the surface it would seem like he was helping Emperor Jianwu and the others, but there would be some implication of trying to snatch credit. Perhaps it would even incur their displeasure.

Emperor Yonghe, with a forced smile, said, “Master Qi, whether or not I should go up to help isn’t for me to decide. You have to give the word. If you want me to go up, I’ll go up. If you think I’m unsuitable, then I will listen to you.”

Qi Tian shook his head and said, “With me, you don’t need to play these clever tricks—it’s useless.”

Emperor Yonghe was startled, thinking he had angered Qi Tian, and hurriedly defended himself, “Master Qi, I absolutely did not mean that.”

Before Emperor Yonghe could finish his words, Qi Tian waved his hand and said, “Enough of that. Prepare yourself quickly. I have a feeling that something isn’t quite right, as if some danger is approaching.”

Emperor Yonghe looked around, both left and right, then front and back, and saw no signs of imminent danger. But since it was Qi Tian who had spoken, he could only comply. He quickly took out his battle soldiers as instructed by Qi Tian, adopting a defensive stance and preparing to join the battle at any moment.

Qi Tian’s words were not said in jest. From the entrance of the underground palace, on the journey deep inside, he had never let his guard down; he always kept the Spirit Qi sensing function of the Heavenly Dao Engine activated, closely monitoring the surroundings.

Through this round of monitoring, Qi Tian discovered many things. Not to mention other things, just the scene in front of his eyes where Emperor Jianwu and his men were congesting the tomb corridor with those puppets, blocking the corridor. However, as Qi Tian passed by them, he could see the end of the corridor beyond them; it looked like a wall at first glance, but when Qi Tian saw this wall, he immediately recognized what it actually was.

Qi Tian found that there was actually a door on this wall. The material used for this door was practically identical to that of the Saint’s Tomb’s entrance. Not only that, but they shared a common feature: no matter what Qi Tian tried, whether Divine Sense or the Spirit Qi sensing feature of the Heavenly Dao Engine, he could never see through the material of the door.

The only thing Qi Tian could be sure of was that this door and the Saint’s Tomb’s entrance were made of the same kind of stone. Of course, this stone was not ordinary stone, but Qi Tian had never seen this kind of stone before and did not know what special properties it may have.

Since Qi Tian could not see through this door, he immediately heightened his alertness to the extreme. He did not want to repeat what had happened at the Saint’s Tomb’s entrance. While being able to eliminate a Nascent Soul Stage being was a matter worthy of bragging, for Qi Tian, who had experienced such an event, unless there was no other choice and it was the only way out, he would absolutely not want to repeat the ordeal.

Just as Emperor Jianwu and his dozens of subordinates were about to eliminate the remaining puppets, a sudden change occurred. The door that Qi Tian had just observed abruptly showed a vortex, and then, from within that vortex, a stream of water shot out.

The flow of water was not composed of clear water, but was incredibly turbid, with an abnormal color and an incorrect taste. It appeared very suddenly, with great speed and in vast quantities, directly surging out from the whirlpool like a tidal wave, rushing towards Emperor Jianwu and the others, including those puppets that had not yet been annihilated, as they all were engulfed by this surge.

As the water flow emerged, Qi Tian and Emperor Yonghe almost simultaneously detected an extremely pungent odor, a mix of blood, foul stench, and a pungent acidic smell. It was simply as unpleasant as it could get.

Emperor Yonghe’s face immediately went pale, and he shouted, “Everyone, be careful! That’s Millennium Corpse Water. Even a touch and you’re done for. You must all be cautious.”

While crying out with warnings, Emperor Yonghe put away the weapon in his hand. Facing Millennium Corpse Water and engaging it in direct combat was utterly useless. Now was the time to think of a way to isolate the corrosive liquid and prevent it from contaminating Emperor Jianwu and his companions. Emperor Yonghe’s decision to abandon his weapon was not out of cowardice but to switch to a different artifact that could separate the Millennium Corpse Water from Emperor Jianwu and his company.

Emperor Yonghe’s intentions were good, but to accomplish this task, his actions had to be exceptionally quick; there was not a second or a moment to waste. He had to be ahead of time, securing enough defenses for Emperor Jianwu and the others before the Millennium Corpse Water struck.

However, this proved to be too difficult for Emperor Yonghe. After all, his cultivation, realm, and strength were unmistakable, and he had just been wielding his weapon. If he had been holding the right artifact from the start, perhaps there could have been hope. But now, he faced the issue of time consumed by switching out his weapon, and the very thing Emperor Yonghe lacked was that time.

Despair flashed in Emperor Yonghe’s eyes. Should they be overwhelmed by the Millennium Corpse Water, significant casualties were inevitable. With half of them perishing, they would no longer be able to continue exploring the Saint’s Tomb.

Some among Emperor Jianwu’s group noticed the Millennium Corpse Water too and tried to save themselves, but on one hand, they were far too close to the liquid, leaving them almost no time to react. From the gushing of the Millennium Corpse Water to its descent upon them, the process took no more than a second, making it virtually impossible for them to respond correctly and with full measures in that brief moment. Moreover, they were still in the midst of battle, and although few puppets remained, these remaining ones fought ferociously and fearlessly. Neglecting these relentless foes to escape the deadly water would surely result in a brutal lesson from the puppets.

At that point, with Millennium Corpse Water and puppets besieging them from inside and out, Emperor Jianwu and his group were bound to suffer grievously, and complete annihilation there was a real possibility.

At this moment, Emperor Jianwu was filled with immense regret; he had led his people to the deepest part of the tomb passage, expecting a moment of glory, thinking the opportunity belonging to him was at hand. Yet, an unexpected calamity struck. He had anticipated dangers, but not the deceitfully timed appearance of the Millennium Corpse Water, which caught them utterly off guard. Had he foreseen such an event, they would have opted for solo combat against the puppets, giving others the chance to remain on the sidelines, ready to respond adequately to unforeseen threats.

As the Millennium Corpse Water was about to fall upon them, Qi Tian sighed heavily, realizing that since he had entered the Saint’s Tomb, he had been fated to labor, always facing various situations that demanded his attention—situations that seemingly only he could resolve.

Qi Tian wasn’t sure whether to feel fortunate or unfortunate, but since he had encountered the issue, he couldn’t just ignore it. After all, Emperor Jianwu and his entourage were his Immortal Slaves, and he still counted on them and their subordinates to continue exploring the Saint’s Tomb with him. If they were all to fall here, Qi Tian would be left with hardly any manpower.
