Chapter 199 - 192: Slaying Immortals and Punishing Gods is Useless
Chapter 199: Chapter 192: Slaying Immortals and Punishing Gods is Useless
Lu Ya the Taoist priest had calculated and discovered that Xuan Ming had revived and was looking to reclaim his own body, so he communicated with Buddha Great Sun Tathagata, who dispatched the top expert of the esoteric sect, Tsangyang Gyatso, to intercept Wukong in the midst of his journey. The esoteric sect’s foundation was too shallow compared to the exoteric sect, and they simply couldn’t be mentioned in the same breath. Therefore, the exoteric sect had boundless Bodhisattvas and three thousand Buddhas, while the esoteric sect had this one and only Primordial Golden Immortal.
This Tsangyang Gyatso was of no ordinary background, having already reincarnated six times, and it was said that after nine reincarnations, one could attain the supreme path—though whether this was true remained to be seen.
He made significant contributions to the construction of the esoteric sect, especially the benefits he brought six hundred years ago. In his first life, he was named Gedun Zhupa, reincarnated as Gedun Gyatso in his second life, then as Sonam Gyatso in his third, Yonten Gyatso in his fourth, Losang Gyatso in his fifth, and now, in his sixth life, he was Tsangyang Gyatso.
Within Buddhism, there was a Wheel-Turning Sage King, who was considered the highest divine being in the Buddhist Sect, a symbol of sorts. More than ten years ago, during the Great Tang’s war with Tianzhu, the Buddhist Sect even cultivated a Reincarnation Sage King Seal to match the Great Revolution Seal, fighting to a standstill. However, fortunately, the Great Seal they cultivated could not last, and after the power of vows dissipated, it was destroyed.
Now, the Great Tang was engaged in the final battle with Tianzhu, with Tang soldiers penetrating deep into the heart of Tianzhu, reaching their capital, White Elephant City! This struggle was genuinely arduous and had been going on for more than ten years. Xue Rengui shone brightly, succeeding Li Ji as the Marshal and continuing the conquest of the last of Tianzhu’s territories.
Fortunately, the Great Tang was at the height of its power, and as Tianzhu was on the brink of collapse with the Buddhist Sect’s fate running out, the Eastern Land’s Taoist Sect supported them desperately. They would summon the wind and the rain wherever there was a drought and provided help wherever there was a disaster... In this way, combined with the Great Tang’s stronghold established during Emperor Li Shimin’s reign, they managed to endure a decade of protracted warfare.
Without further ado, let’s clarify the situation. Now let’s return to Tsangyang Gyatso, who intercepted Wukong, intent on taking Xuan Ming’s physical body.
Seeing someone obstructing him, Wukong was furious and shouted, "Who is this wild monk that dares to block my path? Stand aside at once!"
Tsangyang Gyatso pressed his palms together and spoke calmly, "I am in my sixth reincarnation, Tsangyang Gyatso, acting on the command of Buddha Great Sun Tathagata to stop you, this demon."
Wukong thought to himself bitterly, "It’s that Lu Ya again, huh? He’s truly relentless. Once I achieve sainthood, if I don’t tear Lu Ya apart, I’ll be unworthy of the name Sun Wukong he has given me! Hehe, hehe!" He sneered inwardly, "This man must be the esoteric sect’s top expert, practicing the reincarnation cultivation technique. To possess such mana in his sixth life, might he truly transform into the Wheel-Turning Sage King after nine reincarnations?"
Wukong gripped the Buddha Beating Staff in his hand and shouted, "Step aside for your Grandpa Sun!"
Unmoved, Tsangyang Gyatso lifted his Demon-Subduing Pestle and retorted, "How could I fear a mere demon?"
Wukong let out a light shout and swung the Buddha Beating Staff down, aiming a forceful strike directly at Tsangyang Gyatso’s crown.
Muttering an incantation, Tsangyang Gyatso raised his Demon-Subduing Pestle to meet the staff and a loud crash ensued. Tsangyang Gyatso’s face changed color; Wukong had used the Primordial Great Strength Technique and the pestle was nearly pulverized by the tens of millions of pounds of force. Had Tsangyang Gyatso not dodged swiftly, he would have been crushed to a pulp.
The Demon-Subduing Pestle was knocked flying by the staff’s hit. Wukong’s eyes flashed, and he quickly switched tactics to a sweeping blow at Tsangyang Gyatso’s waist. Tsangyang Gyatso was also quick-witted; his left hand formed a Great Hand Seal and slammed it down, conjuring a huge handprint that deflected the staff.
Taking advantage of this, Tsangyang Gyatso retreated quickly, thinking to himself, "This monkey truly is formidable!"
Wukong caressed the Buddha Beating Staff in his hand, musing, "Hehe, once I conquer the Western Land, I shouldn’t call it the Buddha Beating Staff anymore. By that time, I’ll have become Victorious Fighting Buddha. If it’s still called the Buddha Beating Staff, wouldn’t it be like hitting myself?"
Though he pondered this, Wukong did not pause in his actions. He raised the World-Cleansing Dust Whisk, and the Seven-Colored Divine Light emerged, sweeping down.
Tsangyang Gyatso opened his mouth and spat out a Buddha Bead. The bead shone brilliantly, and within its glow, five figures with the likenesses of Buddhas appeared, representing the previous five reincarnations of Tsangyang Gyatso—Gedun Zhupa, Gedun Gyatso, Sonam Gyatso, Yonten Gyatso, and Losang Gyatso.
His reincarnation technique was incredibly mystical; before reincarnating, he could infuse his body into a Magical Treasure and then let his Primordial Spirit transfer to a new life. These five individuals were his past five lives, all refined into this Buddha Bead! Tsangyang Gyatso was indeed an impressive character who had devised such a unique cultivation technique and was worthy of becoming a Primordial Golden Immortal in eight thousand years.
However, when compared to Wukong, he still fell short. Wukong, from his birth to now having reached the Primordial Golden Immortal Realm, in total had taken no more than a thousand years. Of course, if one were to bring up the Three Pure Ones or Di Jun, then there would be nothing to say, as beings born as saints are few and with such destiny in this world?
The five individuals each clenched a fist seal and unleashed powerful punches, repelling the Seven-Colored Divine Light.
Witnessing this, Wukong couldn’t help but be taken aback, having not expected Tsangyang Gyatso to possess such skills. In response, Wukong moved the whisk continuously, and the Seven-Colored Divine Light surged forth like the Yellow River flooding into the sea. At that moment, the five figures gathered together, surrounding Tsangyang Gyatso in the middle, each forming a Dharma Seal, known as the Immovable Fundamental Seal.
The Seven-Colored Divine Light swept across, but the five men stood still like five great mountains. The crashing waves couldn’t budge them in the slightest, and with Tsangyang Gyatso enclosed in the midst of the great mountains, the surging waters naturally couldn’t reach him.
"This guy is formidable," thought Wukong to himself.
Suddenly feeling a chill, he saw a strand of cold light within the Seven-Colored Divine Light he had flung out. This thread of cold light was flowing backward upwards.
"This is bad," Wukong felt his scalp tingle and immediately called upon his Evergrowing Seat Cushion.
"Pfft!"
There was a crisp sound as a cold light landed on the Evergrowing Seat Cushion, erupting into a burst of white and gold light, blocked from proceeding further.
As it turned out, the fiercely surging Seven-Colored Divine Light was easily dazzling, and Tsangyang Gyatso was of the sort with extensive battle experience. Conjuring his Immortal Slaying Divine Sword, he softly called out, "Darling, please turn around," and the jade beauty within the gourd immediately opened her eyes, releasing a beam of cold light. Should this cold light touch anyone, they would face severing of body from head and sealing of the Primordial Spirit. It was fortunate that Wukong was quick-witted and reacted swiftly by calling forth his Evergrowing Seat Cushion to intercept, otherwise, that would have been the end of him!
Wukong cursed, "You rascal, daring to plot against Old Sun! I almost fell for that vile person’s scheme."
This was indeed a narrow escape; recalling it, Wukong couldn’t help but break out in a cold sweat.
If it had been Lu Ya using this technique, it wouldn’t have been so simple. There would certainly be countless cold lights enveloping the sky, inescapable. That would truly have been a case of Immortal Slaying and Divine Annihilation!
"Darling, please turn around," Tsangyang Gyatso softly called out once again.
The jade beauty inside the Immortal Slaying Divine Sword opened her eyes, and two cold lights surged forth, targeting Wukong.
Wukong was secretly alarmed and hurriedly used the Evergrowing Seat Cushion to protect himself. Layers of gold light descended, blocking the two cold lights, and he finally felt a bit relieved.
The Immortal Slaying Divine Sword was exceptionally effective for ambushing others, but Wukong was alert and had evaded it. With the Evergrowing Seat Cushion’s protection now, it would be difficult to use the sword to hurt him again. After all, the Evergrowing Seat Cushion was once used by Goddess Nuwa, who fell and disappeared afterward, until it ended up in the hands of Lady Pingxin of Xuan Ming.
"My friend, please hold on!" For some reason, Wukong thought of Shen Gongbao’s phrase, which was reminiscent of Lu Ya’s incantation "Darling, please turn around." However, Lu Ya’s spell paled in comparison; Shen Gongbao’s phrase was truly the tool for treachery and murder, guaranteeing that anyone who heard it could not escape the fate of ascending the Deification Platform.
Wukong thought to himself, "One day, I must get Shen Bao to tell Lu Ya, ’My friend, please hold on.’"
"Immortal Slaying Divine Sword, Immortal Slaying and Divine Annihilation!" Tsangyang Gyatso called out again, as the gourd shot out another ten beams of cold light.
However, Wukong was fearless, as the Evergrowing Seat Cushion clearly could withstand it. His hands forming a spell seal, he activated the Evergrowing Seat Cushion, which fell down and blocked the dozen cold lights at once.
Tsangyang Gyatso inwardly cursed, having failed to take advantage of that perfect opportunity to eliminate him secretly. Now to use this sword against him was impossible, for there was the Evergrowing Seat Cushion, one of the Six Directions Seat Cushions, to defend him. It would only be a waste of his own mana.
"This is troublesome—looks like I’ll have to put in quite some effort!" Tsangyang Gyatso mused, his hands forming Dharma Seals, and the five past lives before him also began to form seals. They had no choice but to engage Wukong in combat without using their Magical Treasures, or else they could not injure him, only wear themselves out.
A poem goes on to say of the Immortal Slaying Divine Sword, but how is it known to be a good sword? The poem reads, "First refine the True Yuan then apply your skill, within its mystery, male and female congeal. Only a hint of Innate Techniques does it hold, slashing monsters and exterminating spirits, the power untold."
The outcome is yet unknown, please tune in next time for the resolution. (To Be Continued. If you like this work, feel free to come to qidian.com to vote for a recommendation ticket or monthly ticket. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
