Chapter 606: Chapter 606

"Does Boss Huo have any other instructions?" Yang Fan stood still and asked.

Huo Xiaorou inquired, "When do you have time?"

"I’m available now," Yang Fan responded.

Huo Xiaorou nodded and said, "How about visiting my home? Just to let you know, if you can’t handle it, I won’t pay you a dime. This is the standard you set for yourself, so I hope you won’t play any tricks at that time, will you?"

"I’m not as evil as you think, rest assured," Yang Fan replied with a wry smile.

She seemed to be taking an unusual amount of precautions against him.

Did he really look like a bad guy?

Wang Daqiang, who was standing to the side, suddenly widened his eyes. He had only glanced at the car for a moment, and what had happened between these two?

From just this simple communication, they were already at the stage of going to each other’s home to talk about love?

In the past, Wang Daqiang knew Yang Fan as diligent, honest, humble, and able to endure hardships.

It wasn’t until recently that Wang Daqiang suddenly realized he knew very little about Yang Fan.

This guy seemed to shock him almost every day.

"Okay, let’s go then. My house is not far from here," Huo Xiaorou said. "Just wait for me to lock up the shop."

Yang Fan nodded and said to Wang Daqiang, "Old Wang, let’s go, we’ll get in the car first."

Wang Daqiang hesitated, struggling to find the words, "Fanzi, wouldn’t it be inappropriate for me to go?"

"What’s inappropriate about that?" Yang Fan asked with suspicion.

Wang Daqiang forced a laugh and said, "Having me there would be like a glaring light bulb, wouldn’t it interfere with your big event?"

Yang Fan was momentarily speechless, "What on earth are you thinking about? I’m going to check out something for this lady; I suspect there might be something in her house."

"You mean to look at the issue?" Wang Daqiang caught on.

"Not exactly looking at issues, I’m not capable of that, I only know how to fight," Yang Fan said, gesturing with his hand.

Wang Daqiang chuckled, "But it’s the same thing, as long as the problem is resolved, that’s looking at the issue, right?"

"Well, there’s still a difference. Those who professionally look at issues need to pick an auspicious day, an auspicious hour, and they need a variety of tools. They require certain zodiac signs to stay away and designate who needs to do what; it’s all arranged well in advance," Yang Fan explained.

"But it’s just me alone, I don’t have any of that stuff, I just occasionally use a wooden mace at most. My actions, in the eyes of those real issue-lookers, are just like those of a street rogue, and I would be despised and looked down upon."

"So I’d better just be honest and not vie for the reputation of issue-looking against those masters. I’ll just have a simple look, and if I can solve it, I will; if not, I’ll just honestly leave."

Wang Daqiang shook his head and said, "Fanzi, it doesn’t matter if it’s a black cat or a white cat, as long as it catches mice, it’s a good cat. Regardless of how complex and formidable the other masters are, I’ve never seen them in action. But I have seen what you can do with my own eyes, experienced it firsthand. I’d bet that out of a hundred masters, ninety-nine wouldn’t match up to you."

"You can’t just say things like that, or if they heard it, I’d get beaten up," Yang Fan quickly said, "In this profession, I’m indeed just a novice, at best just better than those who bluff and deceive, using science to look at issues. In front of those truly capable masters, I’m nothing at all."

"You’re just being overly modest." Wang Daqiang shook his head and chuckled softly, "Anyway, I’ve never seen any master capable of directly communicating with the spirits."

Yang Fan did not further insist on arguing. Some things are unnecessary to explain if they’re not understood.

If Wang Daqiang wanted to think that, let him think so.

The incident with his mother had indeed shocked Wang Daqiang considerably.

Huo Xiaorou locked the doors of the car dealership.

For such a large dealership to close up shop as she left clearly indicated how good business was.

Then, with Huo Xiaorou driving in front, Yang Fan and Wang Daqiang followed behind in their car.

"Even though it’s a used one, having this thing makes a person feel different, it’s like your back gets stronger," Yang Fan said from the passenger seat, fiddling with some gadgets on the dashboard, laughing and joking.

"After all, owning a car is a status symbol, no matter the size," Wang Daqiang said with a laugh.

"Our car isn’t something that can symbolize status, otherwise we’d definitely be laughed at," Yang Fan replied. "It just feels like life is genuinely getting better, as if I’ve stuffed a bunch of money in my pocket."

At most, the small car could pass as a fairly decent tool, certainly not a symbol of status.

What excited Yang Fan was that he finally had a car.

Whether it was good or bad, large or small, it was something to be happy about.

Huo Xiaorou’s car stopped in front of a courtyard ahead.

Yang Fan and Wang Daqiang got out of the car and followed suit.

This was Huo Xiaorou’s home, a rural house situated in Xin’an Suburb, seemingly an old place, not one that had been rebuilt after purchasing land. The area was quite large, with front and back courtyards and around a dozen rooms in total.

It seemed that no one was home; Huo Xiaorou opened the main gate and led Yang Fan and Wang Daqiang inside.

"Come in and have some tea first," Huo Xiaorou offered.

Yang Fan nodded and, together with Wang Daqiang, walked into the main house of Huo Xiaorou’s home.

Although Yang Fan had faced off against this woman both times they met, leaving them both feeling rattled.

But upon arriving at her home, Huo Xiaorou became much more polite, and Yang Fan followed suit and became courteous as well.

After sitting down in the living room, Huo Xiaorou dug out a pack of cigarettes, offered them to Yang Fan, and asked him and Wang Daqiang to smoke while she boiled water for tea.

Yang Fan lit a cigarette and surveyed the living room’s layout, then asked Huo Xiaorou, "Does someone in your family practice Buddhism?"

The decor in the living room was incredibly complex.

There were several Buddhist heads, thangkas on the walls, and some scripture.

Sitting there, it didn’t feel like being in an ordinary person’s living room; it was more like entering a scripture hall.

Moreover, it was a scripture hall with a somewhat sinister feel.

Yang Fan felt extremely uncomfortable, as if countless pairs of eyes were scrutinizing him from behind.

"No," Huo Xiaorou said. "My dad is an amateur collector of cultural playthings, especially those related to religion. Almost every room in the house is filled with things he has collected over the years."

Yang Fan nodded and silently activated the Heavenly Eye Technique.

Upon looking, he felt as though someone had grabbed him by the throat, and it was somewhat revolting.

Under the gaze of the naked eye, those benevolent Buddhist heads and paintings, through the Heavenly Eye Technique, turned into blobs of black, oil-like substances, squirming where they were placed. These things had no facial features, yet they gave Yang Fan a very clear sense of being watched.

It seemed like he had pinpointed where the problem lay.
