Chapter 265
Chapter 265: Chapter 265
Yang Fan didn’t know where Zhang Yulan had heard the news from.
He thought it was a small matter and didn’t expect the news to spread so fast.
"Why didn’t you tell me?" Zhang Yulan’s tone was annoyed.
Yang Fan immediately felt awkward; her tone seemed somewhat off.
"It’s just opening a small shop, I actually didn’t plan on doing any other preparations, opening it was enough," Yang Fan said, touching his nose, "so, it’s not that I didn’t tell you, I just thought it wasn’t necessary for such a small store."
"You should have still told me," Zhang Yulan huffed, "all quiet and stealthy, I had to hear about your opening today from someone else. You are not being fair with this."
"I couldn’t go there myself, I had thought of asking Diwu Ming to bring an opening gift for me, but her status seemed even more inappropriate, likely to cause some unnecessary misunderstandings. In the end, we both made a simple decision, and had the manager from her store go over to you. Inside the box is money, once it’s delivered, you should find a place to stash it to avoid unnecessary trouble."
"Sister Yulan, are you serious?" Yang Fan asked in surprise.
Zhang Yulan chuckled, "How many times have I told you, I am definitely serious! This is the money I’m investing in your business, it’s not a gift. If it loses money, that’s on me, and if it profits, just give me a tenth of the earnings."
"That doesn’t seem much different from a gift," Yang Fan said with a helpless smile, "you are force-feeding me here."
"I am pleased to!" Zhang Yulan retorted proudly.
"Eight hundred thousand, count it when you’re done being busy, and if there’s an error, let me know right away. It would’ve been more convenient to transfer it directly to you, but I thought it holds more meaning to present it during your grand opening."
Yang Fan’s emotions were in turmoil, unsure whether to be excited or nervous about this sudden windfall.
Ever since he left school, he had tirelessly toiled in his efforts to earn money.
And he hadn’t earned this much yet.
With just a thought from Zhang Yulan, the money landed right on his forehead.
Truly getting something for nothing.
Making his wallet swell up quickly.
"Sister Yulan, honestly, I don’t even know what to think about this money," said Yang Fan with a wry smile.
"What’s there to say, you should just do what you ought to," Zhang Yulan said with a lazy laugh, "Come find me more often in the future, take good care of this lonely woman, and make me howl. That’ll be enough."
"...Alright," Yang Fan said with a smile, shaking his head in bemusement.
If she hadn’t helped him this way, he would have made Zhang Yulan howl himself.
She was truly pleasurable.
"You must be busy today, so I won’t bother you much longer, just accept the gift when it arrives," Zhang Yulan laughed, "Let me know in advance when you have time to come over, I’ll have Xiao Liu assist."
"Sure, and actually there’s not much to be busy with," Yang Fan said.
The moment he hung up from Zhang Yulan’s call, he was about to put away his phone when another call came in.
This time it wasn’t a woman related to Yang Fan, but one of his old customers.
"Fanzi brother, you opened a store?"
"Ah? Oh..."
"I’ve got some good stuff here, I’ll send it over to you later, is that convenient?"
"Convenient, convenient. By the way Old Li, where did you hear that I was opening a store?" Yang Fan asked.
He was quite puzzled by this development.
It seemed like all of a sudden, the news of his store opening was everywhere, which wasn’t normal.
"Fanzi, brother, isn’t that your ad? Xin’an Integrated Media released a standalone piece for it, such a big space too. You didn’t make a peep about it. If I hadn’t seen it there, how would I have known?" Old Li said with a grin.
Yang Fan was bewildered.
When did he place an ad?
It seemed there were still kind-hearted people around, taking care of even his promotion for him without him knowing.
"Ah, so that’s what happened. Then whenever you’re free, just bring it over," Yang Fan said with a smile.
"Alright, I’ll come over this afternoon and check out your shop as well," Old Li said heartily.
After hanging up, Yang Fan’s gaze swept over the crowd around him, wondering who would have placed the ad for him.
Someone going about doing good deeds without even giving a heads up.
Looking around, Yang Fan finally set his sights on Old Zhou.
Little Mother might have had the idea, but these past few days she’s been so busy she’s hardly touched the ground, and certainly had no time for this.
If Zhang Yulan had done it, she definitely would have mentioned it.
It seemed that the only one who might pull something like this was Old Zhou, the sly one.
Now, Yang Fan was genuinely worried about what other tricks this uncle might have up his sleeve today.
When Old Zhou came down from the rooftop, Yang Fan walked over. He tucked a cigarette into the corner of Old Zhou’s mouth and, with a sinister tone, grabbed his shoulder and said, "Old Zhou, quite the grand setup you’ve arranged. But, have you considered the possibility of me beating you to death?"
Old Zhou immediately asked in utter alarm, "Fanzi, you wouldn’t be so ungrateful as to do something so absolute, would you?"
"You can never be too sure, I prefer it quiet and unassuming compared to all this fanfare," Yang Fan scoffed.
Old Zhou suddenly adopted the air of an experienced man, saying, "Fanzi, don’t worry about whether the cat is white or black, as long as it catches mice, it’s a good cat. With these banners up, starting today, your fame is guaranteed to spread through the whole town, dazzling all others."
"At the same time, my reputation would stink, wouldn’t it?" Yang Fan said dismissively.
With so many entertainment venues, his social circle must be quite rich!
"A stinky reputation is still a reputation. Besides, this little issue, anyone could guess it’s just a joke. Someone capable enough to make all these venues send banners, would they even need to open a shop in town?" Old Zhou said with a wink.
Snap!
Yang Fan flicked the lighter, bringing the flame close to Old Zhou’s face.
"Tricky rhetoric, I can’t argue with you, let’s say you’re right. You placed an ad for me? On our Xin’an media outlet?" Yang Fan asked.
"No, whoever would do a good deed without leaving their name? Maybe it was done by some rich sugar mommy you got involved with?" a strong glint of gossip shone in Old Zhou’s eyes, suddenly looking rather astute.
"Do I look like I have the means to hook up with rich older women? You talk as if it doesn’t cost you a thing. You really didn’t do it?" Yang Fan said.
Right now, it seemed like he really had snagged himself not just one, but several rich patrons.
But could he admit to that?
Absolutely not!
"It wasn’t me. If I had done it, would I need to hide it? I’d have proudly announced it already," Old Zhou said.
Yang Fan felt stumped all of a sudden.
He could not think of anyone other than Old Zhou who would do it.
"Alright, stop thinking about it, let’s get ready and have a ribbon-cutting!" Old Zhou said.
Yang Fan’s eyes widened in alarm, "My Brother Zhou, are you trying to embarrass me to death? Just drop it, I’m just your humble successor, not the owner of some big company, please stop messing with me."
