Chapter 91: Chapter 91: Terrified!

Imperial View Gardens.

The two on the sofa had just finished a session of joy and love.

"I’m going to take a shower next door."

Noah Quarter lit a cigarette, casually draped in a bathrobe, and glanced at Arabella Shaw on the sofa.

His eyes were very cold.

Arabella Shaw didn’t notice.

Noah Quarter left the bedroom.

Arabella Shaw bit her lip, suddenly feeling inexplicably heartbroken.

He hadn’t even carried her to the shower.

She was too tired to move.

Noah Quarter went to take a shower next door, then went directly to sleep in the next room.

He casually tossed his ring on the bedside table, leaning against the headboard, discussing plans over the phone to deal with James Thompson.

James Thompson now had a vulnerability, which was Julia Land.

*

James Thompson received a call from the hospital early in the morning and rushed to the emergency room.

Julia Land had also been awakened by the vibration of his phone but wrapped herself in the quilt and fell back asleep.

James Thompson tried to move as quietly as possible, quickly washed up, changed clothes, and rushed to the emergency room.

When Julia Land woke up again, it was seven-thirty.

She got up, rubbed her head, checked her phone, and saw a message from Thompson telling her he was going to the emergency room and reminding her to eat breakfast before going to work.

Julia proceeded to the bathroom to brush her teeth while pondering why Mr. Thompson still reminded her to eat breakfast as if she were a child.

After she finished washing up and had breakfast, it was precisely seven-forty.

She rode her scooter to Strong Health.

Not far from her, a car discreetly followed her.

Noah Quarter sat in the car with legs crossed and hands placed on his knees, fingers intertwined.

He watched Julia Land on the scooter, his thoughts unreadable.

*

Just as Julia Land sat down at her desk, she received a message from Douglas Hayes.

Douglas Hayes: "There is a woman claiming to be the real Autumn Knowles. She has accused our company on Weibo of buying song rights from an impersonator and then using threats to force her silence."

"She has also provided drafts of her song and testimonials from friends."

Given Austin Langston and Autumn Knowles’ current notoriety, this Weibo post would soon be noticed.

Julia Land sent Douglas Hayes a message telling him to keep his composure.

After seeing Julia’s response, Douglas looked up at Austin Langston and Hannah and said, "Let’s not post any clarification on Weibo just yet, don’t worry, we will handle this."

Austin nodded.

Hannah said to Austin, "Well then, let’s go and record ’My Voice,’ let the company handle it."

"Alright."

Although both Austin and Douglas knew that Julia Land was Autumn Knowles, Julia had always been behind the scenes.

This allowed malicious people to take advantage.

Fame breeds disputes.

Now many of Autumn Knowles’ fans had started causing a stir on Orange Inc.’s official website.

Austin’s Weibo was also flooded with insults, accusing her of aiding and abetting.

Today, Arabella Shaw was also going to the recording of "My Voice."

She had to sing and dance this time.

Because last night, Noah had pressed down on her.

She had knelt for too long.

Today, her knees were a bit stiff and unresponsive, affecting her performance.

Sister Wilson watched the slightly uncoordinated dancing Arabella Shaw onstage and frowned slightly.

What happened, she was fine before?

After finishing her performance, Arabella bowed and left the stage.

Sister Wilson in a hushed tone asked her, "What’s wrong with your legs?"

Arabella’s face blushed slightly, "I’ll be more careful next time."

Seeing that her face looked alright, Sister Wilson did not continue.

Austin performed very well today, dancing a jazz dance, her hip movements and twists very strong.

Arabella pursed her lips.

"The affair has already started."

Sister Wilson roughly mentioned it, and Arabella quickly understood what it was about.

"Mm, let’s go first; it’ll be too chaotic in a minute."

They left the recording scene of "My Voice" first.

After Austin Langston and Hannah finished recording, they also left the scene, but as soon as they reached the main entrance, they were surrounded by the media and haters.

"Miss Langston, do you know about Orange Inc. threatening the real Autumn Knowles to keep quiet about the truth?"

"You became famous by singing Autumn Knowles’s songs, doesn’t your conscience bother you?"

"Orange Inc. actually shields a plagiarist, that’s really disgusting."

Hannah and two staff members protected Austin Langston, but nobody had expected so many media and haters to show up.

Some haters even threw eggs at people.

Austin Langston was a little scared, thankful it wasn’t something like sulfuric acid.

Just as Hannah was about to take Austin Langston back to the recording scene,

suddenly several bodyguards appeared; they blocked the media and haters and forcefully escorted Austin Langston and Hannah into the car.

As the car drove off, Austin Langston let out a deep breath.

Hannah also exhaled, "Were the bodyguards sent by the company? They arrived just in time."

Austin Langston checked the messages on her phone and shook her head, "No, they were sent by Miss Land."

Julia Land had arranged for bodyguards to pick up Austin Langston from the show crew just in case, but didn’t expect they would actually be needed.

She sent a message to Austin Langston, then put down her phone as Thomas Sullivan walked out of his office.

"Secretary Land, come with me to a place."

Julia Land quickly packed her things, grabbed her purse, and followed Thomas Sullivan.

"Where to?"

"A clubhouse, to meet LB’s chairman, Mr. Yu Liang."

Strong Health had just secured a big order from LB, and Thomas Sullivan had privately messaged Mr. Yu Liang to invite him out tonight.

Thomas Sullivan and Julia Land arrived at the clubhouse first to wait for the guest.

Before long, the door of the private room opened, and Mr. Yu Liang, followed by Noah Quarter, walked in smiling.

"I just happened to run into Director Quarter here at the clubhouse."

Mr. Yu Liang shook hands with Thomas Sullivan, then with Julia Land.

The group had conversed previously at banquets, so they weren’t complete strangers.

Businesspeople are like that, always having to put on a smiling face, however reluctant.

The clubhouse manager brought over several hostesses to assist with pouring drinks.

Thomas Sullivan nodded slightly to the hostess sitting next to him, "Could you please pour a drink for Director Quarter? I have Secretary Land here."

Mr. Yu Liang looked at Julia Land and then at Thomas Sullivan, "You brought Secretary Land so you wouldn’t have to drink, right?"

Thomas Sullivan laughed, "You really know me well."

Noah Quarter spoke indifferently, "I don’t need company. I am engaged."

He raised his left hand, displaying a ring on his finger.

"Congratulations, Director Quarter."

Thomas Sullivan raised his glass, and Mr. Yu Liang did the same.

Julia Land also raised her glass, "Congratulations, Director Quarter."

Thomas Sullivan and the others suddenly looked at Julia Land,

especially Noah Quarter, who watched her smiling face.

The atmosphere turned a bit awkward.

He said coldly, "Thank you."

He slightly tilted back his head and downed his drink in one gulp, his Adam’s apple moving.

The hostesses left the private room, leaving only one at Mr. Yu Liang’s side to pour drinks.

"I heard there was an issue at Director Quarter’s overseas branch," Thomas Sullivan’s sharp tongue revealed itself.

They shifted to other topics, glossing over the sudden awkward moment.

After all, Julia Land was technically Noah Quarter’s ex-wife.

At eight o’clock, Mr. Yu Liang was slightly drunk, and Thomas Sullivan helped him to the clubhouse’s main entrance to get into a car.

Julia Land was behind taking care of the bill with her card.

"I’m sorry."

She stepped back and accidentally stepped on someone.

A hand swiftly steadied her waist and then quickly let go.

Julia Land turned, only then seeing it was Noah Quarter standing behind her; she frowned slightly and, hurrying on her high heels, walked out of the clubhouse.

Noah Quarter, hands in his pockets, walked leisurely out of the clubhouse.

He bent as he got into the car, turning his head to glance unintentionally at Julia Land entering another car.

Alexander Strong followed Noah Quarter’s gaze to see Julia Land’s retreating figure as she got into the car.

A chill ran through him.

He was filled with a sense of foreboding.
