Goodbye, Ex-husband! I’m Pregnant with Your Uncle’s Child! -
Chapter 416: Wedding Mishap
Chapter 416: Chapter 416: Wedding Mishap
"Uncle, Auntie, don’t worry. Everything has already been arranged. Next, you should rest well. We’ve nearly finished preparing for the wedding."
Carson Dunn stood next to Dale Land, respectfully explaining the wedding arrangements to James Thompson and his wife.
Julia Land nodded, "Mm, that’s good."
Carson Dunn accompanied Dale Land and her family to the hotel before leaving to check the wedding details.
Even though they weren’t having a grand wedding this time, there were still many tasks to prepare.
Sophia Hart received a phone call informing her that Julia Land had arrived at the hotel. Excited, she grabbed her suitcase and prepared to find Julia.
Andrew Benson reached out to press down on the suitcase, his expression unusually helpless, "Sophia, where are you going?"
Sophia Hart shot him a "Are you stupid?" look, her face full of justified confidence. "Of course, I’m going to stay with Julia! I want to have a good chat with Julia and Dale. Let go, stop holding my suitcase!"
Andrew Benson knew he couldn’t convince her, so he sighed and pulled the suitcase for her. "Fine, fine, I’ll take you there."
Julia Land’s room was just next door. She opened the door to see Sophia and Andrew, smiling as she welcomed them in.
Not long afterward, James Thompson, Alice Thompson, and Andrew Benson were all kicked out of the room.
"......"
"You can fly back on the wedding day," James Thompson said coldly.
Alice Thompson hadn’t even had time to react before his mom had already shooed him out of the room.
"Dad, I want to sleep with Mommy tonight."
"No, you’re a big boy now," James Thompson replied, carrying Alice Thompson to book another room.
"Dad, I’m still not even five years old! I’m a baby; I want to sleep with Mommy."
"No, your mommy can only sleep with Daddy."
Andrew Benson watched the father-son duo leave while arguing and coldly snorted to himself, childish pair.
Meanwhile, inside the room.
After Julia Land saw the three men out.
Sophia Hart opened her suitcase, taking out a wedding gift for Dale Land with a mysterious expression, "Dale, this is your wedding present from your auntie. You can start looking into it tonight."
Dale Land saw Sophia’s mysterious behavior and couldn’t help but laugh, reaching out to accept the gift. "Auntie, you’re not giving me something weird, are you?"
Sophia Hart winked mischievously. "You can open it now and see for yourself."
Dale Land chuckled as she opened the package, finding a lace nightdress and a bottle of scented essential oil inside.
"..."
Her face flushed instantly as she laughed. "Auntie, you’re really too... too good at picking gifts."
Sophia Hart burst into laughter, lightly patting Dale on the shoulder. "On your wedding night, you always need something special. I carefully selected these for you—you’ll be satisfied, trust me!"
Julia Land couldn’t help but laugh as well, teasing, "Your auntie’s kind intentions—be sure to make good use of them."
Dale Land, embarrassed by their jokes, covered her face in bashfulness.
She was still a pure, unmarried young lady!
Sophia Hart and Julia Land exchanged amused smiles.
Sophia held Julia’s hand as they sat together, reflecting on how Dale had grown up and was preparing for marriage.
It felt like in the blink of an eye, the children had all grown up.
**
Today, the weather was beautiful, with a bright sun and clear blue skies.
Dale Land and Carson Dunn were holding their wedding on this September 2nd.
Friends and family had been arriving one after another.
Dale Land was sitting in the dressing room, waiting as Alice Thompson held his phone, adjusting angles non-stop, taking pictures of his sister.
"Alice, are you tired? Do you want to sit and rest?"
"Not tired, not tired."
Just as the wedding was proceeding smoothly, suddenly, a commotion arose outside. A group of people tried to burst into the wedding venue.
Fortunately, there were security guards stationed outside the venue, keeping the group from entering.
Still, the happy wedding atmosphere was disrupted.
An elderly woman with snow-white hair appeared in tears, followed by several equally agitated men and women.
The woman tried to break in while crying and yelling angrily through a loudspeaker, "Carson Dunn, my daughter died saving you! She’s only been gone for two years, two years, and you dared to get married so easily!"
The unexpected scene left every guest stunned.
Carson Dunn had been chatting with guests when he heard the commotion and, with cold eyes, walked out of the venue.
The woman grew increasingly emotional, her voice louder and angrier: "Carson Dunn, do you deserve my daughter? How can you get married so quickly?"
James Thompson’s face had already turned terrifyingly dark.
Levi Dunn, who had been chatting with James, froze in shock at the sudden situation.
Greeting James’s ominous expression, Levi cursed inwardly and hastily apologized, "Mr. Thompson, there may have been some misunderstanding about this matter."
James’s lips curled into a cold smile.
Levi awkwardly continued, "I’ll go check and see what’s going on."
Julia Land and Sophia Hart were with Dale in the dressing room, unaware of the chaos outside.
Julia received a phone call from James Thompson.
"Julia, come out for a moment. Don’t let our daughter know."
"Alright."
After hanging up, Julia Land put away her phone and said, "Sophia, stay here with Dale. I’ll step out for a bit."
Sophia nodded, "Alright."
Julia left the dressing room and saw James already waiting at the door.
"What happened?" she asked, reaching out to hold James’s hand as they walked out together.
"Someone came to cause trouble," James replied in a calm tone.
Upon hearing this, Julia’s face instantly fell. On such a joyous day—what a disgrace.
The two walked to the venue entrance and saw Carson Dunn confronting the troublemaking woman.
"Carson Dunn, if my daughter hadn’t died saving you, she wouldn’t have died at all! How can you get married now?" The woman’s emotions were still running high, her voice trembling with intense resentment.
She had only one daughter. Her daughter was clever and lively. To save this man, she’d lost her life.
Carson’s expression remained icy as he responded calmly, "Auntie, today is my wedding day. Please refrain from causing a scene here. If there’s anything to discuss, let’s handle it privately."
But the woman refused to listen, continuing her loud lament through the megaphone: "If not for my daughter, how could you even be alive to get married? What gives you the right to get married today? Do you deserve her?"
Levi Dunn noticed James and Julia had arrived and quickly instructed the security guards to escort the disruptive individuals to the police station.
"Let go of me! Let go of us!"
"Carson Dunn, I curse you to be childless for the rest of your life!"
"Don’t touch me! Be careful, I’ll accuse you of harassment!"
The security guards restrained the group and got them into cars. The scene was briefly chaotic.
Carson noticed James and Julia had come out. A sense of uneasiness swelled in his heart.
Julia coldly observed the farce, her sharp gaze darting toward Carson.
James said faintly, "The wedding is postponed."
He gripped Julia’s hand tightly.
Julia noticed something off about James’s condition. She looked up at him, noticing the slight shake of his head.
She wrapped an arm around his waist.
Today, Mr. Thompson couldn’t collapse.
