Goodbye, Ex-husband! I’m Pregnant with Your Uncle’s Child!
Chapter 102: Don’t Want to Take Responsibility?

Chapter 102: Chapter 102: Don’t Want to Take Responsibility?

Julia Land’s eyes narrowed with skepticism, "You just want to sleep with me and not take responsibility?"

After she finished speaking,

James Thompson couldn’t hold back a chuckle.

He reached out, helping her straighten the bathrobe that had rolled up to her thighs, "Get up and eat."

A moment later,

He spoke with a touch of resentment, "I actually wanted to give you a surprise, I was preparing an engagement ring and a gown."

But now, the surprise was gone.

Julia Land didn’t lie down anymore, she climbed up, her arms and legs hanging on James Thompson like a sloth.

With slightly reddened ears,

"Eat."

Hearing this, James Thompson smiled, supported her buttocks with one hand, and carried a meal box with the other, heading to the sofa with his sloth in tow to eat.

During the meal, James Thompson finished quickly,

While Julia Land showed an unusual touch of domesticity.

James Thompson leaned back in his chair, his well-defined fingers typing on his phone’s screen, replying to a few messages from Jasper Winters.

Just then,

James Thompson turned to look at Julia Land, his eyes deep, "Little Pear, even though I don’t have a ring now, can I propose to you now?"

Julia Land didn’t look up, biting her chopsticks, "Sure."

At this moment, the screaming gophers inside her heart were probably unheard by anyone.

A smile flickered in James Thompson’s eyes.

When is a man at his handsomest?

When giving her a bank card, in bed, doting on her, and right now.

"Mr. Thompson will spend a lifetime with you."

He didn’t offer a flurry of sweet nothings but held her face with both hands, and a fervent kiss landed on her forehead.

A kiss that reached straight to the heart.

Just a few short words, but he looked into her eyes with affection.

Julia Land’s cheeks flushed with color.

So this was what mutual affection felt like.

It took her a long while to snap back to reality.

They drove back to Dunmore City and encountered heavy rain.

For safety, James Thompson slowed the car down this time.

Julia Land received information dug up by Douglas Hayes.

Douglas Hayes, "Manager Wei took two million from Young Master Ye, and it was under the pretext of celebrating Thomas Sullivan’s birthday."

The key detail was Thomas Sullivan’s birthday celebration.

But Manager Wei thought it was just a few songs for Austin Langston to sing, no need to antagonize Thomas Sullivan, who would have thought something would happen.

Julia Land, "Don’t let this happen again, gather the staff, Orange Inc. does not condone escorting drinks or singing services."

Julia Land had just replied to Douglas Hayes’ message when a text from an unknown number popped up.

"Julia Land, this is Stella Langston. I’ll tell you a secret, just give me ten million, okay?"

Ten million wasn’t much, Stella Langston thought Julia Land would surely agree.

Julia Land had almost forgotten about this, but Stella Langston brought it up again.

Ten million wasn’t beyond her limit, but she didn’t quite trust Stella Langston.

She planned to visit the prison the day after tomorrow and start by probing Mrs. Land for any secrets.

Quarter Group.

"Why is there no news today?"

"Miss Land and Mr. Thompson left Dunmore City by car last night. Once they hit the freeway, we couldn’t keep following them without being noticed."

The call ended there.

Noah Quarter hung up the phone.

He knew about the incident at Morning Sun Bar celebrating Thomas Sullivan’s birthday the day before.

Eliza Quarter had been warned by Thomas Sullivan; from now on, she was not to appear wherever he was.

Noah Quarter also knew Eliza Quarter wasn’t the brightest.

He called her, asking her to come to Quarter Group.

Receiving Noah Quarter’s call, Eliza Quarter instinctively thought of seeking a savior.

She tried calling Arabella Shaw, but there was no answer; Arabella Shaw was currently attending a show event.

In the end, with no other choice, Eliza Quarter reluctantly went to Quarter Family, praying that her brother’s summons wasn’t about anything serious.

It was just a half-hour drive to Quarter Group.

Alexander Strong saw Eliza Quarter arrive, and he opened the office door for her.

Eliza Quarter walked in.

"Brother, why did you suddenly call for me?"

Noah Quarter stopped his work, his dark eyes gazing at Eliza Quarter, "Would you like to go abroad for further studies?"

Eliza Quarter heard it was another trip abroad and immediately shook her head, "I’m not going."

Noah Quarter said coldly, "This time, it’s for you to enjoy abroad, not like last time. You’ll be visiting prosperous places with servants to take care of you."

This was also a way to subtly separate Eliza from Arabella Shaw, supposedly for Eliza’s own good.

Unfortunately, Eliza was not grateful, "I don’t want to go abroad."

She couldn’t go abroad.

Noah Quarter looked at Eliza with indifferent eyes, "Reason."

Eliza hesitated for a while, and just as Noah was running out of patience, she mustered her courage and said, "I like Thomas Sullivan, can our family form a marriage alliance with the Sullivan family?"

She had always liked Thomas Sullivan.

Noah Quarter gave Eliza a look of indescribable emotion, "He won’t form a marriage alliance with you."

He knew Thomas Sullivan well enough.

That man didn’t want to get married.

Eliza pursed her lips, her pretty face showing a trace of unwillingness, "Anyway, I’m not going abroad, so don’t think about sending me away again."

The office fell quiet for a short while.

Noah Quarter, "You can stay if you want, but don’t go causing trouble for Julia Land, and stop standing up for Arabella Shaw."

Eliza understood the first part of her brother’s words but didn’t understand the meaning behind the latter part.

"Shouldn’t you be happy that I’m helping Sister Arabella?"

Her brother loved Sister Arabella so much, why would he say such a strange thing?

Noah Quarter’s voice was cool and unyielding, "If you won’t listen to advice, just leave it be. You can leave now."

Now Eliza could finally leave with peace of mind.

She had just stepped out of Quarter Group when she received a call back from Arabella Shaw.

"Sister Arabella, it’s okay, I thought my brother wanted to scold me for the bar incident yesterday."

Eliza got into a car.

Arabella Shaw took the thermos cup from Sister Wilson and sipped water, asking, "What did your brother want with you?"

"He asked me not to provoke Julia Land," Eliza used her head to guess Noah Quarter’s thoughts, "I guess my brother doesn’t want to anger James Thompson."

Arabella Shaw paused in her drinking, "Oh? That could be a possibility. Is that all your brother wanted with you?"

"Yes, and one other thing, I also told my brother I liked Thomas Sullivan."

Eliza had at least a bit of sense; she didn’t mention Noah Quarter telling her not to stand up for Arabella Shaw.

This was also to protect Arabella from getting hurt.

"Sophia, if you really like Thomas that much, you could try to make your feelings clear," Arabella Shaw gently encouraged her, "If you don’t try, you’ll never get anything."

Just like her, if she wanted something, she would find a way to get it.

Hesitating only leads to missing out.

She lifted her right hand and looked at the engagement ring on her finger, smiling.

Whether Julia Land could get married to the Thompson family was not yet certain.

But she was going to have her engagement party in three days.

Eliza felt Arabella Shaw was right, she should try to express her feelings.

James Thompson drove with Julia Land back to Sincere Heart Community in the evening.

Julia Land got out of the car and turned back to the man in the driver’s seat, "Good night."

James Thompson stretched out his index finger and beckoned her, "Come here for a moment."

Julia Land climbed back into the passenger seat, "Is there something else?"

James Thompson looked at her with a teasing smile, "Playing dumb?"

Julia Land kissed him quickly, then hurried out of the car, closing the door behind her.

When she got home, she saw Sophia Hart staring straight at her, "Sister Land..."

Julia Land solemnly promised, "I’ll make sure not to bail next time!"

Sophia Hart covered her mouth, laughing.

The next day, Julia Land made time to get her blood test report from the hospital, and also picked up one for Thomas Sullivan.

Leaving the hospital, she went to the prison.

When Grace Land saw Julia Land, her gaze filled with nothing but hatred, she said coldly, "Are you here to see if I’m doing poorly?"

Julia Land didn’t beat around the bush, "Stella Langston is offering a secret in exchange for ten million."

"It’s a secret you told her."

Grace Land glared at Julia Land, "What nonsense are you spouting? Don’t try to trick me, I don’t have any secrets about you. If I did, I would have used it to make a deal with you by now."

Julia Land observed Grace Land’s expressions.

Now she was sure of one thing: Stella Langston really did have a secret.

The more Miss Land rushed to deny it, the more certain it was.

"If you say there are none, then there are none."

With those infuriating words, Julia Land left the prison.

As she drove, she dialed Stella Langston’s number, "Let’s set a time to meet."

Stella Langston’s lips curled up into a triumphant smile, "Sure."

Julia Land ended the call with a composed expression.
