Goodbye, Ex-husband! I’m Pregnant with Your Uncle’s Child! -
Chapter 101: Crazy Passion
Chapter 101: Chapter 101: Crazy Passion
Julia Land and James Thompson left the Morning Sun Bar but did not head straight home.
She had her bodyguard take Austin Langston home first.
Silently, she sat in the passenger seat.
James took the driver’s seat.
He started the car, "Baby Julia."
He called out.
Julia looked out the window, blinking her slightly reddened eyes.
Thinking of Wesley Turner reminded her of the humiliation she felt that night, and the child not meant to be hers.
All she ever wanted was simple—
A stable home.
But sometimes, a stable home was hard to come by.
"Julia, look at me."
He stopped the car, his ink-dark eyes fixed on her.
Outside was the brilliant city lights, and inside was the silence between them.
Julia’s lashes trembled as she turned her head, her gaze downward.
James sighed and unbuckled his seatbelt, leaning over with both hands cradling her face.
Julia asked hoarsely, "Look at what?"
James stared into her reddened eyes, his lips landed gently on her brow, and a faint smile curled on his lips, "Mr. Thompson will take you to forget your worries."
Julia pursed her lips.
James settled back in, buckled up, placed both hands on the steering wheel, started the engine and gradually drove out of the bustling city onto the highway.
"Julia, put on your sunglasses."
Julia obediently put on her sunglasses.
As the car reached a stretch where they could speed up, he hit the gas.
Julia’s window was open, and the wind whooshed in, tousling her hair.
It felt as if all her troubles were blowing away with the wind.
At a rest stop, they parked the car and both got out to buy water and use the restroom before continuing their journey.
Julia didn’t ask where James was driving them.
She covered her mouth with her palm against the wind, and started singing a song she had written earlier.
[In this life, just like this, every day, every minute, every second, blood slowly flows.]
[Life is such, living this way.]
She deliberately sang off-key, and after bellowing a couple of lines, she stopped.
After all, it was late at night, and such howling could scare anyone—even though it was just her and James.
James curved his lips into a smile.
This was the first time he had heard her singing off-key.
Terrible.
Until the break of dawn, the car finally came to a stop.
Surrounded by mountains and roads,
Both of them squatted by the roadside.
Julia ate instant noodles dry, feeding James with a bite after every bite she took.
It was crazy.
An adrenaline-inducing activity.
They were no longer in Dunmore City but about to enter Long State City.
Biting into her dry noodles, Julia murmured, "Mr. Thompson, I want a kiss."
James looked around; the road was clear of vehicles.
He nodded.
A numbing sensation.
"Why is my ramen spicy?" Julia gasped, her breath unsteady, "It’s numbing my tongue."
The pack of noodles she held hadn’t had any seasoning added; it shouldn’t be spicy.
James nodded earnestly, "Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention and must have bought the wrong one."
Their thoughts were in sync.
The conversation was fanciful.
"I want to try the spicy taste again," Julia eyed James’s thin lips.
James couldn’t help but chuckle, "Okay."
He clutched her head in his large hand.
The two squatted by the roadside, the early morning sun shining on them.
Silly.
Julia frowned and surmised, "Dragon Breath Chili?"
Her tongue was nearly numb.
There’s a type of chili known as the spiciest in the world called Dragon Breath Chili.
James, restraining himself as long as he could, finally burst into laughter, "Yes, it’s Dragon Breath Chili."
Julia’s eyes curved into a smile.
Bright and beautiful.
James curved his lips, his eyes slightly deepened.
Julia stood up, extended her hand, James raised his eyebrow and placed his hand in hers.
She pulled him up.
He rose fluidly.
Julia’s hand hung around his neck, and looking up, she said, "Mr. Thompson, let’s go back to the car, I’m tired."
James opened the rear door, and Julia crawled in, resting her head against the seatback.
He followed, sat down, and pulled her into his embrace.
She rubbed her face against his chest, yawned, and closed her eyes.
"Sleep for a while."
After Julia fell into deep sleep, James also closed his eyes for some rest.
Driving all night was indeed exhausting.
Their hands were intertwined, holding each other tightly.
*
When they woke again, they didn’t head straight back to Dunmore City but entered Long State City instead.
They chose a hotel to shower and rest.
Before showering, Julia used a method taught by a video blogger to check the room for cameras and stuff with her phone.
James waited, arms crossed, eyelids drooping, as Julia inspected the room.
"It’s safe."
Julia had barely finished speaking when James quickly scooped her up and headed into the bathroom.
"Saving time, let’s shower together."
"Oh."
"Mr. Thompson, you really are amazing."
Driving all night and still so full of energy.
The sound of running water couldn’t mask the suggestive noises inside.
James chuckled, took a towel, and wiped her down.
Showering together hardly saved any time.
James carried her out of the bathroom, and she was temporarily soft like clay.
"I’m going to ask the hotel owner what there is to eat, don’t fall asleep, okay?"
If she slept, she wouldn’t be able to eat.
After changing into fresh clothes—fortunately, he had spare clothing in his car—James left the room.
Julia picked up the phone from the bedside table, seeing a new message, she clicked to read.
[Locke contacts you.]
The message’s word order was intentionally scrambled, a form of contact from the nanny beside Bella Quarter.
Bella Quarter now knew she and Austin Langston knew each other.
Julia thought for a moment, then sent a message to Douglas Hayes to inquire how Austin came to sing at the bar last night.
She also sent a message to Austin, [Miss Austin, I will send two bodyguards to protect you.]
James returned with two boxes of food.
Julia lay sideways on the bed, contorting her body into an S-shaped seductress.
Her one creamy leg bent, delicate hand resting on her knee.
She asked, "Mr. Thompson, when will you propose to me?"
