Chapter 107: Gon and Dina Wrestling
Gon leaned back on his hands, his legs stretched out in front of him as he gazed up at Dina with a knowing glint in his eyes.
His smile was small, but it held a hint of amusement, as if he had already figured out the truth before she even said a word.
"How can anything be interesting to you," he asked, his voice light yet teasing, "when you came here for me only?"
Dina crossed her arms, tilting her head slightly as she let out a scoff.
Her dark eyes held a spark of defiance, but there was something else beneath it.
"Don’t be full of yourself," she shot back, rolling her eyes for emphasis. "I came because I was bored."
Gon let out a soft chuckle, shaking his head as if he didn’t believe her for a second.
His expression was relaxed, yet his eyes remained locked onto hers, studying her every reaction.
"Right," he said, drawing out the word with playful disbelief. He patted the empty space beside him, a slow, inviting gesture. "Why don’t you come sit here, then? Let me see if I can entertain you."
For a moment, Dina hesitated, her gaze flickering to the spot he offered.
"Entertain how?" she asked, her tone laced with doubt, eyeing him skeptically, one brow arched as she leaned back slightly, keeping a safe distance between them.
The breeze tousled a few strands of her hair, but she ignored it, too focused on the smug expression on Gon’s face.
Gon shrugged, tilting his head slightly as he stared up at the ceiling. "I don’t know, a lot of talk?" he mused lazily. "If I wasn’t so tired, we could’ve taken a walk."
Dina eyed him for a moment before stepping forward.
Her movements were careful, almost hesitant, as if she wasn’t sure she wanted to get too comfortable.
Finally, she reached the bed and lowered herself onto the edge, keeping her back straight.
"Why?" she asked, her voice carrying the hint of a smirk. "Your fight wasn’t that hard."
The moment the words left her lips, Gon sat up straight, his fatigue momentarily forgotten.
His expression shifted instantly, his eyes narrowing in disbelief.
"That’s not true!" he shot back, his voice firm, almost offended. "My opponent was very difficult to fight."
Dina raised an eyebrow, barely hiding her amusement. "Oh? Is that so?"
"Yes!" Gon insisted, leaning forward slightly, his frustration evident.
Gon narrowed his eyes at Dina, his lips pressing into a thin line.
He could already tell where this was going, and he wasn’t about to let her have the last word.
"Well, difficult for you," Dina said in a haughty voice, picking at her nails with exaggerated indifference.
Gon sat up straighter, his expression turning defensive. "He had a prosthetic arm," he argued, as if that alone proved his point.
Dina glanced at him lazily, unimpressed. "Yes, a stiff metal arm and a sword he could barely wield," she countered smoothly. She stretched her legs out, inspecting her nails as though the conversation hardly mattered.
Then, with a slow smirk, she added, "Meanwhile, my opponent could move at the speed of sound."
Gon’s eyes darkened with irritation, his jaw tightening at Dina’s words.
"What are you saying?" he asked, his voice steady, but there was an edge to it.
Dina’s lips curled into a sly smile, her eyes crinkling with mischief. "I’m saying," she drawled, drawing out the words just to test him, "your path to qualification was a little... easier."
Gon stiffened, but before he could protest, she added, "You sure it’s not because your daddy is the Duk—"
She didn’t get to finish.
In a blur of movement, Gon lunged at her, his frustration finally spilling over.
Dina barely had time to react before he crashed into her, knocking them both off the bed.
They tumbled to the floor in a mess of tangled limbs, the impact sending a dull thud through the room.
Dina let out a small gasp as her back hit the ground, and Gon landed halfway on top of her, gripping her shoulders.
For a moment, neither of them spoke, their breathing heavy from the sudden scuffle. Gon’s eyes burned with frustration, but Dina, despite the situation, only looked amused.
But Gon didn’t even register the pain.
The moment they hit the floor, he moved with swift determination, pinning Dina down before she could wriggle free.
His hands gripped her wrists, holding them firmly against the cold floor. His breath was heavy, his chest rising and falling rapidly, but his eyes burned with challenge.
"Oh yeah?" he shot back, his voice sharp with frustration. "Is it my father who’s making me overpower you right now?"
Dina let out a short laugh, unbothered by his weight pressing against her. "Not quite," she said smoothly.
Before Gon could react, she twisted her body just enough to free one arm, then sent a sharp blow straight to his jaw.
The impact was quick, precise. A stinging pain shot through Gon’s face as his head snapped slightly to the side.
For a second, he was stunned, not just by the force of the punch, but by the fact that she’d managed to land it.
With the momentum of that surprise strike, Dina didn’t waste a second. She drove her knee upward, catching Gon in the stomach and using the force to jerk him off her.
He grunted as he was knocked back, his grip loosening just enough for her to twist free.
In one fluid motion, she rolled over and lunged at him, flipping their positions as she straddled his waist.
Her hands shot out, grabbing his wrists and pinning them down just as he had done to her moments ago.
A triumphant smirk spread across Dina’s face as she leaned forward, her breath still slightly uneven. "Looks like I win," she said smugly, her grip tightening around his wrists.
But Gon’s eyes gleamed with something dangerous, determination, mischief, and a refusal to accept defeat. He wasn’t done yet.
Gon wasn’t about to let that happen. The second Dina thought she had him, he bucked his hips upward and twisted his body, using his strength and momentum to throw her off balance.
