Chapter 78: Levels and Ranks of an Armamentalist
But that reflected the danger of this dungeon. Even someone of Level 1,000 had barely reached Floor 90. What the hell is that tower at the end of it all?
Thinking about it carefully, Hardrial told him yesterday that there was something like an entrance from here, but he said it as if alluding to it not being here.
Was it a dungeon in another dimension?
As he was thinking like that, the door to the hall opened, and Hardrial walked in.
"Are you ready?" he asked as soon as he arrived, and they both nodded.
"Haha, very well then. Follow me. I’ll explain something as we go to the Teleport Tower."
They followed him closely, and he explained something to them.
"The explanations are more directed to Louis, as Miss Laura already has a correct concept of what I will say." He said, looking at Louis. "It’s about the Levels of an Armamentalist. That thing that in your system comes out as Armsman and a Rank."
Louis paid special attention, as he had wanted to talk about this before.
"This is divided into 3 Sequences and 8 Levels."
"Armsman Novice, possibly where you are right now. Here, you don’t have much versatility in using Firearms for Magic. Your range is noticeably limited, and the same with your power. Still, you are quite powerful in point-blank attacks because your skills and magics use energy excessively and unchecked. That’s why they’re sometimes called Armsman Front-tier."
"That Sequence is divided into 4 Levels. Levels E and D are the ones that are called "Novice". When you advance to Level C and B, you enter the category of an Intermediate Armsman, but you are still in the same sequence, Front-tier."
"Above those is the Armsman Mid-tier Sequence, which has two secondary Categories. One is called Advanced Armsman, and the other is called Armsman Monarch. These are divided into levels as well. Level A and S belong to the "Advanced" category, and Level SS is already considered a Monarch."
"What’s above that... Well, it’s known as Guns God. You should understand what it is by now."
"In what way can we reach those levels? There is only one way: Killing. That’s why leveling up is encouraged at the academic level. The pursuit of quests that lead to dungeons or hunting locations. In addition to this, if you study weapons and delve into the magics you can employ, you will also go advanced."
Louis nodded softly repeatedly. He had been thinking about how to climb that for a while. He had a hunch that it went up that way, and it seemed to be the case.
"I understand, Professor."
"Good." He smiled. "Don’t think I’m telling you this in an empty way or just to tell you to kill a lot of beasts. The reality is that I’m telling you this to get you to shoot as much as possible. Because you need to level up your skills as well."
"If you can get your skill to the maximum level before you become a Human Master, you will receive a skill evolution. That will allow you to receive the stats your skill can give you and then return it to Level 1 to start leveling it up again, looking for more stats. This is the best way to get stats. And this skill can evolve multiple times."
"Really?" Louis was surprised.
That was too convenient. Not only does the skill get stronger with each evolution, but it also strengthens you directly, giving you more stats for leveling them up.
Hardrial nodded and explained a few more things to them.
Meanwhile, they walked around the Academy, crossing different departments and buildings.
Louis did not realize how huge this was inside. It had more than 36 Departments, all with all kinds of facilities and even dungeons inside.
According to Hardrial, the Royal Academy’s territory alone was equal to that of the entire Velharthe City.
Usually, some sort of transportation is used to move between it, so there are roads and everything inside, but this time, they were near the Teleportation Tower, so they walked there.
The Red Sun Tower is not inside the Academy. It’s inside the Empire’s territory, in a city right in the middle of it. It is not in the capital, but that place is called the Capital of the Divine Tower. There are only merchants and all kinds of establishments operating there.
It is a city, in a way, independent of the Empire, but governed by its rules.
When they arrived at the Teleport Tower, they went to the area that would take them to the Red Sun Tower, and Hardrial ushered them in.
"Good luck on the hunt." He told them before the teleportation mechanism was activated.
This mechanism worked only within the territories of the Red Sun Tower and could not teleport to other parts of the empire.
After being enveloped by darkness and a sudden dizziness, 1 second later, they could see again.
They were already in the Divine Tower City.
They had to go through a procedure, during which they showed their student identification, to finally get out of there.
As they stepped out into the fresh air of the city, Louis couldn’t help but look up, as he was immediately attracted to a prominent figure.
A massive tower reaching to the clouds stood uncovered, naked to the wind that whipped it continually, but could not even move it.
The Tower of the Red Sun.
To be sure, that tower is not the real one either. So, to speak, this one is in another dimension.
But it looked majestic.
"Great, isn’t it?" Laura said next to him.
"Yes."
"Though I find the teleportation magic from before more interesting than the tower itself." She said, starting to walk, in the direction of the Tower.
Louis followed close behind her.
"Apparently, you really like magic."
"Yes." She replied. "I should say it’s what I’m most passionate about. I want to study the depths of magic and reach its Abyss sometime."
"That’s why you want to take up Sorcery, right?"
"Yes, yes." She nodded repeatedly. "I feel that I will find the truth there."
"The truth?" Louis looked up, curious. "What truth? Of the world?"
"Of magic. Of the depth of it and... the truth behind the Gods."
"You’re interested in the Gods?"
"You’re not?" She turned to look at him.
