Chapter 184: The Vast Sea Alliance
Chapter 184: Chapter 184: The Vast Sea Alliance
"A nation upon the seas? What exactly is the situation?"
Qin Shulan had connected with the rest of the world across the ocean so swiftly, indicating a considerably vast force, one that must be taken seriously.
If they belonged to a sea nation, then they would absolutely have superior marine development. If they weren’t careful, it wouldn’t be impossible for such a nation to launch an attack directly upon them.
By now, Earth had descended, bringing a multitude of Lord’s Cottages to the All Heavens Hunting Ground.
Many great forces had secured Lord’s Cottages through various means, greatly enhancing their potential.
So even the previously stable forces might now become aggressive and seek expansion, all of which are uncertainties. Such forces must be approached with caution and care.
"We, too, have just discovered them. It seems to be a Sea Alliance, and that’s how they refer to themselves externally."
"Sea Alliance? It looks like they’re not completely unaware of the outside world. It’s just uncertain whether they have plans to come ashore."
"According to our investigation, at least for now, there seem to be none. The lands they can survey nearby all harbor powerful forces, so it wouldn’t be easy to simply venture onto land."
"But they aren’t devoid of resources in the great seas; on the contrary, they are quite powerful."
Fang Jie pondered for a moment, then asked, "How much precise intelligence do we have?"
"Based on some peripheral investigations, we’ve confirmed a few things. The Sea Alliance is made up of twenty-three large islands, plus several hundred medium islands, and tens of thousands of small islands—an aptly named country of myriad islands."
That indeed seemed exaggerated; the largest on Earth was known merely as a country of a thousand islands.
However, those were tiny islands. According to Qin Shulan, what the Sea Alliance referred to as small islands were actually not small. Extremely small islands did not even count as islands in their eyes and were completely overlooked.
If included in the count, the total island area would likely be even more astonishing.
"Based on our rough calculations, this Sea Alliance is probably much larger than the New Moon Kingdom."
"In addition, the forces they have amassed at sea are incredibly powerful, and their marine development is deeply ingrained. Their main fleets are built by themselves, but there are also some established through Functional Buildings—it’s unknown if belonging to Territory or purely the Functional Buildings themselves."
This indeed necessitated thorough investigation, as these should account for their fundamental strength.
"There are also some developments in aerial forces or Sea Beast strengths, definitely not weaker. This alliance alone has at least over twenty of the most top-tier powerful existences, each large island being one of them."
"So, what you’re saying is that they haven’t fully unified, more like loose sand."
Qin Shulan nodded. "Generally, that should be the case. Some matters are decided through joint meetings. If not for the powerful existences on land, they probably wouldn’t be able to form an alliance at all."
Fang Jie thought it over and seemed to understand. Without the pressure of powerful external forces, such a complex alliance would have likely already fallen into infighting, not amicably resolving issues through meetings.
"So, can we infiltrate them?" That was the crucial point.
Fang Jie did not wish to leave such an alliance to its own devices; he would begin by deploying preventative measures and, over time, gradually bring them under control.
Indeed, if not for the lack of strength, Fang Jie would already be launching attacks on his surrounds, decisively seizing various regions.
"Infiltrating shouldn’t be an issue. According to our understanding, this Sea Alliance is a union of various large species. Among them are Elves and Divine believers, as well as Undead and Demons on the opposition side."
"Although they find each other unpleasant, their interactions are generally just marked with poor attitudes. As long as there is no direct conflict, commercial transactions roughly adhere to established rules."
What did ’roughly’ mean? It meant that given a choice between two, they would certainly not opt for an opposing force.
Without a choice, they would impose the strictest conditions possible and then still reach an agreement.
The fact that they could tolerate each other to this extent was already quite remarkable. It must be understood that when Living Creatures and Undead Forces clash, it is typically a battle to the death, as those Undead are not created by Territory buildings.
The inherent yearning and hostility Undead have towards Life leads them to attack proactively.
As for Divine believers’ attitudes towards Demons, it’s downright antagonistic. If encountered on the continent, Divine believers would utterly obliterate Demons. If they couldn’t do it themselves, they would inform others.
When facing Demons, even Divine believers with poor relations would rally together to eliminate the Demons first.
Similarly, Demons are known as the harbinger of chaos; wherever they go, they are the ones who wreak havoc. However, in this alliance, these beings somehow manage to coexist relatively peacefully.
If it isn’t due to them being created by Territory and therefore easily controlled, then it must be a special rule long-established in these parts, domesticating even the forces that naturally oppose each other.
At least externally, they genuinely appeared to be doing so.
For Fang Jie, this was a favorable situation. On the one hand, he could engage in trade and acquire commodities he lacked. On the other, he could learn more about the true state of the Sea Alliance.
Wanting to bring the Sea Alliance under his control in the future was not an impossibility.
The poor relations between them indicated vulnerabilities that, once identified, could be leveraged.
"Good, then our main objective is to thoroughly investigate the Sea Alliance. We’ll keep our own status confidential for now and find a way to get involved once we have a clearer picture."
"Alright, I’ll start preparing immediately." Qin Shulan had, in fact, begun preparations much earlier.
If everything required directives from the boss before action could be undertaken, then her role as a business manager would seem quite redundant.
Indeed, in Qin Shulan’s eyes, she was a business manager, albeit managing a somewhat unique business.
It never crossed Fang Jie’s mind that so quickly, he would come in contact with such a formidable external force; and it was one so well-suited for his dominion. Throughout this winter, their resources would undoubtedly be in great scarcity.
With food alone, he could easily infiltrate them, right?
But soon, Fang Jie’s focus was drawn back to the ongoing clash before him. The battle between Trolls and Skeletons was still unresolved, and it was unclear how long this conflict would persist.
Occasionally, Black Iron, and even Bronze and Silver-level Trolls, would emerge, wreak havoc, and disrupt the formation of the Skeletons. And on the side of the Undead, corresponding forces would appear to match.
