Global Lord: My Undead Can Undergo Fission
Chapter 185 The Collapse of the Trolls

Chapter 185: Chapter 185 The Collapse of the Trolls

The flames were pervasive ahead, and the assault from both sides had finally come to a pause.

Indeed, it was a fire, not set deliberately but sparked by various incendiary weapons that had ignited the bones scattered across the ground. This vast White Bone Wasteland wouldn’t be burnt clean in a short while.

Not to mention, some areas had smaller flames, and the Skeletons would still charge through to continue fighting.

On the highland side, thick smoke billowed, and getting too close would make one choke uncomfortably.

Let alone Humans and Beastmen, even the Trolls with their superior adaptability, found it hard to withstand such conditions.

The duration of this battle exceeded Fang Jie’s imagination. It was simply impossible to deploy many troops, and despite the continuous head-on charges amidst the numerous forces, the battle couldn’t be resolved quickly.

Of course, this was much faster compared to those famous cold weapon battles on Earth that lasted for months or even on and off for several years; after all, this place only counted by days.

Fang Jie had even gone to his Main Territory due to the excessively large loss of forces in order to manufacture and fission more troops.

Only after replenishing his forces could he maintain his position here.

If it weren’t for the fact that Fang Jie had captured over sixty percent of the Trolls’ corpses, he probably would have suffered losses himself. For the Undead to suffer losses in a battle against other creatures would be quite the irony.

Even so, in the eyes of others, Fang Jie was still incurring losses.

They didn’t know about Fang Jie’s fission ability and assumed, based on normal production rates, that Fang Jie was not only at a loss but severely so. Therefore, the soldiers were even more touched by Fang Jie’s dedication.

Being willing to suffer such a loss to help defend the highland and avenge them—what a noble idea.

Unbeknownst to them, their loyalty to Fang Jie was increasing rapidly.

If one could see their loyalty levels, they might all be above 90 by now.

But Fang Jie hadn’t noticed any of this; his focus was solely on the battle ahead. The fire had continued nearly a whole day, finally subsiding with the arrival of heavy rain.

Then, amidst the downpour, Skeletons and Trolls resumed their campaigns.

The battle continued for eleven days, and in the afternoon of the eleventh day, the Trolls began to retreat.

"The Trolls are retreating, they’re finally retreating," shouted a soldier loudly.

Fang Jie naturally saw it too, but he was perplexed, "Why are these Trolls retreating? They clearly still have a lot of forces left." Indeed, after battling for over ten days, the Trolls had only lost more than two million.

In fact, there were still over one hundred thirty million Trolls gathered here, possibly even more.

As for the possibility of collapsing due to too many casualties, that wouldn’t happen to the Trolls—these guys were too simple-minded.

As long as there was food, what was life to them? They hardly cared about such things.

"Probably, it’s because they have sufficient food, and they’ve realized that their opponent is too strong," pondered Li Mingshu with his head down, concluding strategically that the enemy’s retreat was because their objective had largely been achieved.

"I see, but my objective has not been achieved."

Fang Jie intended either to occupy the highland or to annihilate the Trolls altogether. Seeing the Trolls retreating, without a second thought, Fang Jie ordered his army to pursue them. No one present objected.

After all, eliminating evil was a matter of course, and they couldn’t just allow the enemy to regroup and attack again.

Moreover, the soldiers wanted vengeance; if Fang Jie were to stop now, they themselves would demand to attack.

The most important thing was that throughout history, the opposition to war boiled down to a few reasons: Impact on civilians, lack of logistical support, soldiers weary of fighting, a causeless war, and so on.

But none of these mattered to the Undead. As for having a just cause, wasn’t it the enemy who struck first?

Besides, eliminating the Trolls was beneficial to everyone; the only party that would suffer, the Undead, didn’t care at all. So, what more was there to say? Just attack them directly.

After the battles of this period, the population of Humans and Beastmen in this territory had dwindled.

The Beastmen had stopped reproducing, while Humans had only produced some civilians and soldiers. They didn’t wish to fight; the prolonged combat had fostered a weariness of war, so they had to stop, or it could affect their loyalty.

The pursuit was left entirely to the Undead Creatures.

The Skeleton Army relentlessly chased the Trolls; as they retreated while fighting, their retreat gradually turned into a rout.

With no unified command, the disadvantage was now fully exposed. As the Undead continued to pursue, the formation of the Trolls became increasingly disordered, and even High-level Trolls were unable to control their actions.

The Skeletons pursued relentlessly, regardless of what lay ahead. If they encountered a forest with Trolls blocking, they would simply burn it down. Concern for the environment wasn’t something that Fang Jie took into account.

After all, he could just construct farmland here later and plant trees on top of it.

Even if the farmland was later abandoned and destroyed, as long as the large trees remained unharmed, they would persist.

This was a new method of farmland use that Fang Jie had recently developed, which, though not particularly useful, could only serve to restore the ecosystem.

However, it is said that this method was being used on the edge of the desert, with plans to eradicate the desert step by step. Since Fang Jie could use this method to alter the terrain, he wouldn’t just leave the desert be.

As long as he could maintain it, even the world’s rules could be transformed.

Three more days of pursuit, and countless Trolls perished.

One by one, the Troll Tribes were found, either destroyed or driven away. Advancing northward, the shape of this piece of the highland gradually emerged on Fang Jie’s map.

According to initial estimates, this plateau was not supposed to be as extensive as the Flower Plateau, but now Fang Jie feared he might have been mistaken.

The further they advanced, the more vast the highland appeared. Had it not been for the Trolls’ primitive sustenance, this area could have supported even more of them.

"Based on current findings, this highland could possibly be two or three times larger than the Flower Plateau,"

remarked a soldier in charge of engineering, who had an unmatched knowledge of landscaping and calculations compared to others. This was a form of legacy since they had found several mining areas on the highland.

In his own Territory, aside from the desert, Fang Jie had yet to discover any mining area.

"Such an enormous area can’t be left for the Trolls to spoil; it must be conquered," Fang Jie set the tone decisively.
