Chapter 705: Chapter 705: Cooking

Yu Shuchang chuckled again, but this time, he didn’t say anything else.

Sheng Yin turned her face to the window, trying to calm her racing heart.

The car ride was silent for a while. The city lights passed by, making her feel a little sleepy. She leaned against the window, her eyes growing heavy.

Just when she was about to doze off, she felt something warm on her head.

She blinked and turned slightly.

Yu Shuchang had placed his hand on her head, gently ruffling her hair.

"Sleep if you’re tired," he said in a soft voice.

Sheng Yin froze.

What... what was this?!

This wasn’t teasing. This wasn’t him trying to annoy her. This felt... nice.

Too nice.

Her heart thumped loudly in her chest. She wanted to shake his hand off, but at the same time, she didn’t.

No! No way!

Sheng Yin quickly sat up straight and glared at him. "Who said you can touch my head?"

Yu Shuchang raised an eyebrow. "You don’t like it?"

Sheng Yin opened her mouth, then closed it. She didn’t know what to say.

Yu Shuchang smirked again. "Your face says otherwise."

Sheng Yin quickly covered her cheeks with her hands. Were they really red?!

"No! You’re imagining things!" she huffed.

Yu Shuchang laughed softly but didn’t argue. He just kept driving, acting like nothing happened.

Sheng Yin turned away again, staring at the window.

Soon they reached the villa. Sheng Yin dashed to the villa, entered her room, and locked the door.

"Breathe! Breathe!"

.......

She changed into comfortable clothes and sat on the bed, but before she could rest for long, she smelled something delicious.

Her stomach growled.

"What is that smell?" she muttered.

Curious, she stepped out of her room and walked toward the kitchen.

There, she saw Yu Shuchang standing in front of the stove, cooking. He looked completely at ease, as if he had done this a thousand times before.

His sleeves were rolled up, and he moved smoothly, flipping food in the pan and checking the soup.

Sheng Yin blinked in surprise.

"You... you’re cooking?" she asked.

Yu Shuchang turned his head slightly and smirked. "Obviously. Who else would do it?"

"But why?" she asked, still confused.

"You had a long day. You must be tired," he said simply. "Eat first, then rest."

Sheng Yin stood there, not knowing what to say.

A few minutes later, Yu Shuchang placed a plate in front of her. She stared at the food, her eyes widening.

It was all her favorite dishes.

She looked at Yu Shuchang, her heart feeling weird again. "How do you know I like these?"

Yu Shuchang raised an eyebrow. "Shouldn’t I know what my girlfriend likes?"

Sheng Yin’s face turned red. "Fake! Fake girlfriend!" she corrected.

Yu Shuchang only chuckled. "Alright, alright. Just eat."

Sheng Yin didn’t argue anymore. She picked up her chopsticks and took a bite.

Her eyes widened again.

The food was so delicious that she forgot about everything else for a while.

After finishing, she stood up and picked up the plates. "I’ll wash the dishes."

But before she could take a step, Yu Shuchang calmly took the plates from her hands.

"You should rest," he said. "You worked hard today."

Sheng Yin frowned. "But I—"

"No buts," Yu Shuchang cut her off. "Go sit."

Sheng Yin hesitated but finally sighed and sat down.

She watched as Yu Shuchang rolled up his sleeves again and started washing the dishes.

For some reason, the sight made her feel strange.

She suddenly remembered her past life.

Back then, Yu Shuchang also never let her do any housework. He would always take care of everything himself, but at that time, he was cold and distant. He never smiled or joked like he did now.

But now...

Now, he had a playful aura around him. He teased her, smirked at her, and even cooked for her.

Sheng Yin bit her lip, feeling confused.

Why was he so different now?

Before she could think too much, Yu Shuchang finished washing the dishes and wiped his hands with a towel.

Then, he turned to her.

"Alright, now it’s my turn to help you," he said.

Sheng Yin tensed up. "Help me? Help me with what?"

Yu Shuchang walked toward her and gently placed his hands on her shoulders.

"Relax," he said. "You’re too tense."

Sheng Yin immediately panicked. "No need! I’m fine!"

Yu Shuchang didn’t listen. He made her sit properly and started massaging her shoulders.

At first, Sheng Yin struggled. "Hey! I said no need— Ah...!"

She suddenly stopped.

His hands were firm but gentle, pressing the right spots on her shoulders.

The tension in her body slowly melted away.

Sheng Yin wanted to resist, but the massage felt too good.

Her eyelids became heavy, and before she knew it, she had leaned forward, her head resting against his chest.

Yu Shuchang paused.

He looked down at Sheng Yin, who had fallen asleep.

For a moment, he felt helpless. "This girl..." he muttered.

Sighing, he carefully picked her up in his arms.

She was light, and carrying her was easy.

Yu Shuchang walked toward her room, pushing the door open with his foot. He gently placed her on the bed and pulled the blanket over her.

Just as he was about to leave, his eyes fell on her face.

His gaze slowly moved to her lips.

They looked soft.

Tempting.

Yu Shuchang clenched his fists.

For a second, he wanted to kiss her.

But then, he sighed and stepped back.

No.

If he kissed her now, he would be crossing a line.

Yu Shuchang turned away and quietly left the room, closing the door behind him.

As he walked away, he rubbed the back of his neck, feeling frustrated.

This was harder than he thought.

He wanted to be close to her.

But he also didn’t want to scare her away.

With a deep sigh, he walked back to his own room.

Once he left, Sheng Yin opened her eyes and chuckled bitterly.

She lay still in bed, staring at the ceiling.

Her heart was beating strangely.

For a moment, she had thought Yu Shuchang... maybe... liked her.

But he didn’t kiss her.

If he really had feelings for her, wouldn’t he have stolen a kiss while she was asleep?

Sheng Yin turned to the side, pulling the blanket over her head.

Why was she even thinking about this?!

It was good that he didn’t do anything!

Right?

She groaned and shook her head, trying to push the thoughts away.

But no matter how much she tried, she couldn’t forget the way he looked at her.

Was everything her imagination?

Unknowingly she fell asleep.

......

The next morning, she woke up feeling well-rested.

Stretching her arms, she sat up and glanced at the clock.

7:30 AM.

Her schedule today wasn’t too packed, but she still had to get ready.

She yawned and stepped out of bed, heading to the bathroom.

After freshening up, she changed into casual clothes and walked out of her room.

The house was quiet.

Too quiet.

Was Yu Shuchang still asleep?

Sheng Yin peeked into the living room, but there was no sign of him.

She frowned and walked toward the kitchen.

As soon as she reached the doorway, she froze.

Yu Shuchang was there, making breakfast.

Again.

Sheng Yin’s eyes widened. "Why are you cooking again?!"

Yu Shuchang turned around with a calm expression. "Because I want to eat."

Sheng Yin crossed her arms. "Then cook for yourself! Why are you making so much?"

Yu Shuchang smirked. "I thought you might be hungry."

Sheng Yin opened her mouth, then closed it.

Why did that sound so... sweet?

She quickly looked away and muttered, "I can make my own food."

Yu Shuchang chuckled. "Sure, go ahead."

Sheng Yin glanced at the stove. There was already porridge, fried eggs, and freshly cut fruit.

If she said no, she would just have to make something herself.

And honestly, she wasn’t in the mood.

Sighing, she pulled out a chair and sat down.

Yu Shuchang placed a bowl of porridge in front of her and casually said, "Eat."

Sheng Yin huffed.

"You are going to make me a pig."

Yu Shuchang smirked and sat across from her. "Then be a happy pig."

Sheng Yin glared at him.

If he liked her he would have said something like, ’You won’t’ or ’You would still look.’

He definately doesn’t like her!

But she still picked up her spoon and started eating. The porridge was warm and comforting, just like last night’s dinner.

The two ate quietly for a while. The morning sunlight streamed through the windows, making everything feel calm. It was... nice.

Too nice.

Sheng Yin suddenly felt weird. She wasn’t used to this.

After finishing her porridge, she stood up. "I’ll wash the dishes."

But before she could grab her bowl, Yu Shuchang took it from her hands.

"I got it," he said.

Sheng Yin frowned. "You always do everything. Do you think I’m useless?"

Yu Shuchang looked at her. "Of course not."
