Chapter 700: Jin Aitu
Chapter 700: Chapter 700: Jin Aitu
Just as Yu Holea was about to ask more questions, a man came out of one of the rooms.
He looked tired, with dark circles under his eyes, but his face lit up when he saw the woman.
"Honey, it’s time for your medicine," he said gently, handing her a small bottle of pills and a glass of water.
The woman shook her head and pushed the medicine away.
"I don’t need it," she muttered, her eyes still fixed on Yu Holea with a hopeful gaze.
The man sighed deeply and then noticed Yu Holea.
"Who... who are you?" he asked, his voice wary but polite.
"I’m from the special forces," Yu Holea replied, showing her badge.
"I’m here to investigate your son’s disappearance."
The man’s eyes filled with both relief and desperation.
He quickly moved closer, his hands clasped together like he was praying.
"Please, you have to find our son," he begged.
"My wife... she has stage 2 cancer. She’s refusing to take her medicine ever since our boy went missing. She’s getting weaker every day. I don’t know what to do anymore."
Yu Holea turned to look at the woman, studying her carefully. Then, out of nowhere, she asked, "Do you truly love your son?"
The woman was taken aback by the sudden question, her eyes widening in surprise.
But then, without hesitation, she nodded firmly. "Of course, I do. He’s my baby."
Yu Holea stood up and walked over to her. She turned to the husband and held out her hand. "Give me the medicine."
The man quickly handed over the pills, his eyes full of confusion and hope.
Yu Holea then placed the bottle and the glass of water gently into the woman’s hands.
"Eat it," Yu Holea said softly but firmly. "Your son won’t like it if he comes back and finds his mother sick and weak."
The woman’s eyes lit up, a spark of hope flickering in her tired gaze.
She thought Yu Holea was promising to bring her son back. Holding onto that belief, she quickly swallowed the medicine and drank the water.
"I promise I’ll take my medicine on time," the woman said eagerly, clutching Yu Holea’s hand. "Just... please find my son."
Yu Holea nodded, her face calm and determined. "I will. But you have to stay strong for him. He’ll need you when he returns."
The woman smiled weakly, tears glistening in her eyes, and the husband let out a sigh of relief, his shoulders relaxing just a bit.
The heavy air in the room seemed to lift slightly, replaced by a fragile thread of hope.
"Mr..." Yu Holea looked at the man, who instantly introduced himself, "I am Jin Aitu."
"Mr. Jin, please step outside for a minute." Yu Holea said politely.
Mrs. Jin thought Yu Holea already had a lead in the case and motioned her husband to follow Yu Holea.
Jin Aitu hesitated for a second before following Yu Holea.
Yu Holea coldly stared at him, "Are you going turn yourself in, on your own or do you need me to do it?"
Jin Aitu’s face turned pale.
Yet he pretended to be nonchalant and asked,
"What do you mean?"
Yu Holea narrowed her eyes.
"Don’t play dumb. You know exactly what I mean. The dark energy in your house isn’t just from some random spirit. It’s connected to you."
Jin Aitu’s hands trembled slightly, but he quickly shoved them into his pockets.
"You’re mistaken. I’m just as worried about my son as my wife is."
Yu Holea stepped closer, her gaze piercing.
"Then why is there a spirit clinging to your wife’s shoulder? And why does it react whenever you get close to her?"
Jin Aitu’s eyes darted away for a brief second, but Yu Holea caught it.
"I don’t know what you’re talking about," he mumbled, his voice losing its steadiness.
Yu Holea crossed her arms.
"You can lie to me all you want, but the truth always comes out. Did you think you could hide from someone like me?"
Jin Aitu’s facade finally cracked. His shoulders slumped, and his face twisted in guilt and fear.
"I can prove everything, even without your confession I can put you in jail." Yu Holea said calmly.
Tears welled up in Jin Aitu’s eyes.
"I...I was greedy. I love my wife a lot...when she was diagnosed with stage 2 cancer, the doctor said they couldn’t help and she was destined to die. I...I wanted to extend my wife’s life. And that when I came to know about a ritual..."
Yu Holea’s eyes hardened. "What kind of ritual?"
Jin Aitu took a shaky breath.
"It was supposed to transfer life energy from one person to another. I didn’t believe it at first, but... I was desperate. They said it needed a strong, innocent soul. Our son... he was perfect."
Yu Holea clenched her fists. "You sacrificed your own son?"
"I didn’t mean to!" Jin Aitu cried, falling to his knees.
"I just wanted to borrow his energy. I thought he’d be fine afterward! But something went wrong... the spirit got angry, and now it’s haunting us."
Yu Holea stared at him in disgust.
"You didn’t just betray your son. You betrayed your wife too. Do you think she’ll forgive you when she finds out?"
Jin Aitu sobbed, covering his face with his hands.
"Please... help me fix this. Save my son. I’ll do anything."
Yu Holea’s voice was cold as ice.
"The only thing you’re going to do is turn yourself in. I’ll find your son, but you’ll pay for what you’ve done."
Jin Aitu’s sobs echoed in the empty hallway, but Yu Holea didn’t flinch. She grabbed his arm and pulled him up to his feet.
"You’re coming with me," she said sharply. "Take me to where you did the ritual."
Jin Aitu wiped his tears with the back of his hand and nodded weakly.
His legs trembled as he led Yu Holea out of the apartment and down the dimly lit stairs. The air outside was cold and damp, and a thin fog rolled over the street, making everything look eerie.
They walked in silence for a while, Jin Aitu’s steps slow and hesitant.
Yu Holea kept a firm grip on his arm, her eyes scanning their surroundings.
Once they got in Yu Holea’s car, Jin Aitu told her the path.
Finally, they reached an isolated area, where an old, abandoned temple stood, hidden behind thick trees.
The temple was crumbling, its wooden beams rotting and covered in moss. The windows were shattered, and strange symbols were carved into the walls.
"This is the place," Jin Aitu whispered, his voice shaking.
Yu Holea let go of his arm and stepped forward, her hand reaching into her coat pocket.
She pulled out a small bundle of talismans, each one marked with intricate symbols. She picked one with a red seal and held it up, letting her mystic energy flow into it.
The talisman glowed faintly, and Yu Holea felt a tug, like an invisible thread pulling her towards the temple’s entrance.
"Stay here," she ordered Jin Aitu. "If you follow me, I won’t protect you from what’s inside."
Jin Aitu nodded quickly and backed away, his face pale with fear.
Yu Holea stepped into the temple, the floor creaking under her weight.
The air inside was colder, and the shadows seemed to move on their own. She could feel the presence of something dark and angry.
She followed the pull of the talisman deeper into the temple.
The walls were covered in more symbols, drawn in what looked like dried blood.
Strange whispers echoed through the halls, but Yu Holea ignored them, focusing on the talisman’s guidance.
Finally, she reached a small room at the back of the temple. In the center of the room was a circle drawn with black ink, and in the middle of the circle was a small, worn-out teddy bear.
Yu Holea’s heart tightened.
She pulled out another talisman, this one with a blue seal, and placed it on the ground.
She channeled her energy into it, and the talisman began to glow brightly. The air in the room grew colder, and the shadows gathered, forming into a dark, twisted figure.
The spirit’s eyes glowed red, and it let out a bone-chilling scream
"Who are you?" Yu Holea asked calmly.’
Yu Holea stood firm as the dark, twisted figure loomed before her.
The spirit’s glowing red eyes glared at her, filled with rage and hatred. Without warning, it lunged at her, its shadowy form stretching out like claws.
Yu Holea didn’t flinch.
With a calm wave of her hand, she released a burst of mystic energy.
The energy shot forward like a shield, hitting the spirit and sending it backward. The dark figure hissed, retreating slightly but not disappearing.
"Who are you?" Yu Holea asked again, her voice steady and cold.
The spirit’s eyes narrowed, but it didn’t attack this time. Instead, it hovered in the air, its form shifting and twisting like smoke.
