Chapter 699: Cases

Chapter 699: Chapter 699: Cases

Yu Sicong reached out, gently cupping Fu Jian’s face.

"Because I’m done running. I’ll prove it to you every day, as long as it takes."

For a moment, they just stood there, the tension between them thick. Then, slowly, Fu Jian leaned into Yu Sicong’s touch, letting his guard down just a little.

"You better mean it," Fu Jian whispered.

Yu Sicong’s smile widened, and he leaned in, their foreheads touching. "I do."

After staying like that for a while, Fu Jian suddenly asked,

"Did you love me all along?"

Yu Sicong sheepishly admitted,

"I did, but I wasn’t sure, so I kept on...waiting...to confirm my...feelings for you."

Fu Jian’s eyes narrowed.

Yu Sicong gulped and realized he had treaded in dangerous territory.

Sure enough the next second, Fu Jian pushed Yu Sicong away and asked with a dark smile,

"Oh? So now your feelings have been confirmed? After seeing me suffer, you are suddenly sure of your feelings?"

Yu Sicong froze, his mouth opening and closing like he was trying to find the right words. But Fu Jian didn’t give him a chance.

"You know what, forget it," Fu Jian snapped, turning away, his arms crossed over his chest. "I don’t need your pity."

"It’s not pity," Yu Sicong said quickly, stepping closer again. "I swear, it’s not. I’ve always cared about you, Fu Jian. I was just too dumb to admit it."

Fu Jian’s heart hurt hearing those words. But he wasn’t ready to forgive so easily.

"Too dumb?" he echoed, turning back to face Yu Sicong.

"You left me feeling like I didn’t matter at all. You ignored me, and pushed me away like I was nothing. And now you expect me to believe you care?"

Yu Sicong’s face softened, his eyes full of regret.

"I don’t expect you to believe me right away," he said gently.

"But I’ll do whatever it takes to prove it to you."

Fu Jian looked at him for a long moment, his emotions swirling inside him like a storm.

"You can’t just fix everything with a few sweet words," Fu Jian whispered, his voice trembling.

"I know," Yu Sicong replied, his voice steady. "But I’ll show you with actions, not just words."

Fu Jian rolled his eyes.

He suddenly understood. Yu Sicong had started to like him a long time ago, but he dared to act coldly only because he knew Fu Jian wouldn’t give up on him.

Yu Sicong deliberately gave him the cold shoulder for the past 6 years!

Heh!

If he doesn’t take revenge, his name won’t be Fu Jian.

With a smile on his face, Fu Jian waved his hand.

"No need Mr. Yu, I suddenly seem to have lost my feelings for you. You can leave."

Yu Sicong froze, his heart sinking like a stone. "What?" he whispered, his voice shaky.

Fu Jian crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips.

"You heard me. I’m over it. Six years is a long time, you know? People change. Feelings fade."

Yu Sicong’s face paled. "No... Fu Jian, please. Don’t say that."

"Why not?" Fu Jian snapped. "It’s true. You ignored me for years, Sicong. You made me feel like I was nothing. Now, you want to come back like nothing happened? Sorry, but I’m not that easy."

Yu Sicong stepped closer, his hands trembling slightly.

"I’ll do anything. Just give me a chance."

But Fu Jian wasn’t planning to make it that simple. He decided right then and there that he would teach Yu Sicong a lesson he’d never forget.

"Anything?" Fu Jian asked, tilting his head.

Yu Sicong nodded quickly. "Anything."

Fu Jian’s smile grew wider. "Alright then. Let’s see how serious you are."

The next few days were like a game, and Fu Jian was the player in control. He made Yu Sicong run errands, do chores, and even carry his bags like a personal assistant. Every time Yu Sicong tried to talk about his feelings, Fu Jian would wave him off.

"Not now, Mr. Yu. I’m busy," Fu Jian would say with a smirk.

Yu Sicong, desperate to win Fu Jian back, did everything without complaining.

But inside, he was panicking. What if Fu Jian really didn’t love him anymore?

He directed all of his panic and anger toward the Fu family.

It was because of Old Mr. Fu that Fu Jian changed so much suddenly.

If Old Mr. Yu hadn’t kicked out Fu Jian, Yu Sicong would have confessed at the right time and Fu Jian wouldn’t have held a grudge against him!

So the next few days, the Fu family was in utter chaos.

Old Mr. Fu watched in disbelief, as his company was attacked by a mysterious force.

All of his orders were getting canceled too.

He was in so much distress that he almost vomited blood.

"Find out who’s behind this!" Old Mr. Fu roared at his employees, but no one had any answers.

Back at Yu Sicong’s place, Fu Jian watched the news of the Fu family’s downfall with a satisfied smile.

Yu Holea and Qiao Jun noticed and exchanged a glance.

"Brother-in-law, you sure you’re not going too far?" Yu Holea teased.

"He deserves it," Fu Jian replied calmly. "They all do."

But deep down, his heart felt heavy. Revenge was sweet, but it didn’t erase the pain.

Later that night, Yu Sicong finally cornered Fu Jian on the balcony.

"Fu Jian, please. I’m begging you. I’ll do anything you want, just don’t shut me out."

Fu Jian sighed, his heart softening just a little."Alright. I think my feelings have returned just a little bit." Fu Jian motioned.Yu Sicong’s eyes lit up when he heard Fu Jian’s words. "Really?" he asked, stepping closer, hope flickering in his eyes.

Fu Jian nodded slowly, but his smirk didn’t fade. "Yeah, but don’t get too excited. You still have a lot to make up for."

Yu Sicong quickly nodded. "I will! Anything you want, I’ll do it."

Fu Jian tapped his chin, pretending to think hard. "Alright then, let’s start with something simple."

The next morning, Fu Jian made Yu Sicong wake up at 5 a.m. to jog around the neighborhood—in a ridiculous pink tracksuit Fu Jian had picked out just to embarrass him.

People on the street stared, some even laughed, but Yu Sicong didn’t care.

He just kept running, hoping it would prove how serious he was.

But Fu Jian wasn’t done.

.....

Yu Holea and Qiao Jun returned to the City S.

For the next few days, Yu Holea was busy shooting.

"Holea, a famous variety show has approached you. Would you like to participate?" Her manager asked.

"What is it?" Yu Holea asked as she went through the documents.

"It’s like this. The celebrity will be asked to stay in the village for a week and their journey will be recorded. You will have to do some tasks."

Yu Holea raised an eyebrow. "Tasks? What kind of tasks?"

"Things like farming, cooking with local ingredients, helping villagers with chores," her manager explained.

Yu Holea thought about it for a moment. "Sounds interesting. I’ll do it."

Her manager clapped her hand and continued to make arrangements.

Yu Holea’s schedule was free and she had a week off. She looked at the pending cases from the special force as well as assignments and sighed.

She entered her space and first completed all of her assignments. Then she exited the space and started to assign tasks to the ghost.

At last, she decided to solve two cases on her own.

The first case was about a missing boy in City S.

His parents were worried sick, and the police had no leads.

Before going missing, the boy showed the signs of possession.

Surprisingly there were many such cases.

Yu Holea raised an eyebrow and went to the boy’s home.

Once she reached the address, Yu Holea was stunned to see the dark clouds around the house.

She knocked on the door and soon the door was opened by a woman who looked haggard.

Seeing Yu Holea, the woman asked with a weak look on her face,

"Yes?"Yu Holea however stared at the woman’s back with a thoughtful look.

The woman seeing Yu Holea unresponsive snapped,

"I am asking you something. What do you want?"

"Oh? I am from the special forces, I am here to investigate the matter." Yu Holea answered, her eyes would occasionally landing on the woman’s shoulder.

The woman blinked in surprise when she heard Yu Holea mention the special forces.

"Oh... please, come in," she said, stepping aside to let Yu Holea enter.

As Yu Holea walked inside, she felt the air grow colder.

Yu Holea sat down in the small living room, her sharp eyes scanning everything. "When did your son start acting strange?" she asked calmly.

The woman sat opposite her, wringing her hands.

"It started a week ago. He would talk to himself, laugh at nothing, and sometimes..."

Her voice trembled.

"Sometimes, his eyes would go completely black. Then, one night, he just disappeared."
