Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All -
Chapter 684: Exposing Yu Holea
Chapter 684: Chapter 684: Exposing Yu Holea
Yu Holea, Qiao Jun, and Old Mr. Yu turned toward the door and saw Mrs. Yu.
Her face was devoid of any emotions, she might be feeling.
"Mom..." Yu Holea called out and Mrs. Yu’s face softened a little. Understanding Yu Holea’s concern, she walked up to her and patted her head,
"Don’t worry, I stopped loving him long ago."
At first, Mrs. Yu did love Mr. Yu, hence she agreed to marry him and even left everything and everyone from her past to become his wife, but eventually, she realized she was wrong.
It was too late to regret though. The people of her past refused to acknowledge her and she too having her own pride didn’t return.
Old Mr. Yu looked at Mrs. Yu with regret in his eyes,
"I am sorry. I am sorry for ruining your life."
He knew how flawed his son was, yet he didn’t stop Mrs. Yu from making the mistake of marrying Mr. Yu.
Mrs. Yu shook her head, with a bitter smile on her face,
"It’s alright...I was destined to commit this mistake and now I am paying for it."
Yu Holea hugged Mrs. Yu, who hugged her back.
After a while, they again started the discussion,
"So Yu Mei’s mother could possibly be the one who is behind the curse?"
"Actually we are still not sure whether it is indeed a curse and if it’s then which type of curse is it and whether Yu Mei’s mother is indeed the one who is behind all of this." Yu Holea interjected.
She has 100 reasons to doubt Yu Mei, but, she didn’t because there is still a 1% chance that someone else is behind all of this curse stuff.
Qiao Jun nodded in agreement.
A misled plan could only result in insignificant results.
Yu Holea suddenly thought of the incident when Old Mr. Yu was poisoned and said,
"I think whoever behind the scenes is, he or she is eager to ake down grandfather."
"Hm? Why do you think so?" Qiao Jun asked.
"I don’t know...its a feeling. Like even in my first lifetime, my condition worsened only after my grandfather’s death." Yu Holea muttered.
Qiao Jun’s eyes narrowed. "I just remembered a pending work, I will be right back later."
Yu Holea nodded.
Once Qiao Jun left, Yu Holea talked with her grandfather for a while, before leaving for her shoot.
On the way, she kept on thinking about the curse.
She was leaning out of the window and focused on the passing scenery when she saw someone familiar.
Shi Qin!
"Stop the car!" Yu Holea ordered.
The driver instantly stopped the car.
Yu Holea unlocked the car door and looked at the location where Shi Qin was, but found no one.
She used her mystic energy to sense her but found nothing.
She could only return to the car and asked the driver to continue.
Soon she reached the shooting location. Her scenes were soon about to end.
At most few more days and she would be over with the project. Her manager already found her two different scripts and a few endorsements.
In between the time, Yu Holea would complete the script she was working.
Life was pretty busy.
Just as she finished one of her scenes, there was some moment on Yu Mei’s side.
Yu Mei’s entire energy was placed on impressing Cai Bao. Hence she didn’t have the time to plot against Yu Holea.
By now, Yu Mei was able to ’befriend’ Cai Bao.
She successfully created her gentle persona in front of Cai Bao and was going to expose Yu Holea’s true nature today.
Yu Mei knelt before the grand Buddha statue, her hands pressed together in a prayerful pose. Her head was slightly bowed, and her lips moved softly as if she were reciting a sacred chant. The golden light of the temple flickered against her delicate face, making her appear pure and serene.
At least, that was the image she wanted others to see.
In reality, her mind was not focused on worship but on the entrance. She kept stealing glances toward the doorway, waiting for Cai Bao’s arrival.
After a few minutes, Yu Mei finally spotted Cai Bao entering the temple. The elderly woman walked gracefully, her eyes wise and knowing. Yu Mei quickly lowered her head further, letting a few tears slip down her cheeks. She sniffled softly, ensuring that Cai Bao would notice her sadness.
Just as expected, Cai Bao’s gaze landed on her. The old woman’s expression softened as she walked toward Yu Mei.
"My dear, why are you crying?" Cai Bao asked gently.
Yu Mei wiped the corner of her eye and let out a small, shaky breath.
"I... I just feel so disturbed, Grandmother Cai. My heart is heavy, and I don’t know what to do."
She waited for Cai Bao to take the bait and ask why she was feeling disturbed. Yu Mei had practiced this moment over and over again. She would talk about her pain, about how much she suffered because of Yu Holea. She would appear innocent and pitiful, making Cai Bao feel sympathy for her.
But just as Yu Mei was about to speak, Cai Bao suddenly stood up.
The elderly woman walked over to a nearby shelf and picked up a set of scriptures.
She then returned to Yu Mei and placed the sacred texts in her hands.
"If you are feeling disturbed, child, then read these scriptures," Cai Bao said with a kind smile. "They will calm your heart and bring you peace."
Yu Mei’s fingers tightened around the book. Her nails dug into the cover as she forced herself to keep smiling. She had been completely ignored! Cai Bao had not even asked what was troubling her. Instead, she had been handed a book and dismissed like a child.
Yu Mei gritted her teeth but quickly adjusted her expression. She couldn’t lose her temper here. Not in front of Cai Bao.
She smiled sweetly and nodded. "Thank you, Grandmother Cai. I will read them carefully."
Cai Bao patted her shoulder. "Good. The wisdom in these scriptures will guide you."
Yu Mei clenched her jaw as she watched Cai Bao walk away. She had failed her first attempt, but she wasn’t going to give up so easily.
Taking a deep breath, she wiped away her remaining tears and continued,
"Actually I have no one to talk to about the things troubling hence I feel so heavy."
"Or maybe your weight has increased, hence you are feeling so heavy." Cai Bao commented lightly.
Yu Mei: "..."
Her eyes widened and she stared at Cai Bao in shock.
Cai Bao chuckled, "I was just kidding girl, I wanted to ease your mood."
Yu Mei forced out a laugh, but inwardly she was cursing Cai Bao.
’You are fat! Your entire family fat!’
Yu Mei took a deep breath, calming the frustration bubbling inside her. She couldn’t let Cai Bao slip away without hearing her story. This time, she had to be careful.
She put on a sad, hesitant look, her fingers nervously playing with the hem of her sleeve.
"Grandmother Cai..." she whispered, her voice shaking slightly. "I... I just feel so lost."
Cai Bao sighed, turning to her again. "Lost? What has happened, child? Speak your heart."
Yu Mei secretly smirked in her mind. Finally, she got Cai Bao’s attention.
She lowered her gaze, pretending to struggle with her emotions before finally speaking. "I have a step-sister... Yu Holea."
Before she could continue, Cai Bao frowned and interrupted, "Step-sister? Does that mean you are an illegitimate child?"
Yu Mei’s heart dropped to her stomach. The coldness in Cai Bao’s voice sent a chill through her spine.
She immediately shook her head, forcing a panicked yet innocent expression. "No! No, Grandmother Cai. I... I was adopted by Yu Holea’s father. He took me in out of kindness."
Cai Bao’s gaze remained sharp, but she nodded slightly, signaling for Yu Mei to continue.
Yu Mei breathed in deeply, carefully constructing her next words.
"I always tried my best to get along with my step-sister, but she..." She let her voice tremble. "She was never kind to me."
Cai Bao raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything, so Yu Mei pushed forward.
"When we were younger, Yu Holea was very wild. She never listened to anyone. She spent most of her teenage years hanging around hooligans!"
Yu Mei covered her face with her hands for a moment before continuing, "She used to skip school all the time, and when she did attend, she got into fights. She even..." Yu Mei hesitated for dramatic effect. "She even had relationships with street thugs!"
Cai Bao’s expression didn’t change much, but Yu Mei caught a slight flicker of disapproval in her eyes.
Encouraged, she continued,
"Because of all the trouble she caused, no decent school wanted to keep her. She was finally sent to a... a very fishy high school just so she could finish her education."
