Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All -
Chapter 683: Curse
Chapter 683: Chapter 683: Curse
She saw different types of curse talismans—some that weakened enemies, some that trapped souls, and some that could break dark magic.
There were Weakening Curses, which slowly drained a person’s strength, making them tired and powerless over time.
These curses were often used in battles to weaken enemies without them noticing right away.
Then there were Binding Curses. These could trap a person’s movements or even their soul. Some were temporary, holding a person in place for a short time, while others were permanent, sealing someone in a specific location forever.
Illusion Curses were another dangerous type.
They made people see things that weren’t real, trapping them in nightmares or causing confusion.
Someone under this curse might believe they were walking on solid ground when they were actually stepping off a cliff.
The scariest ones were Life-Draining Curses.
These slowly took away a person’s life force, making them weaker and sicker until they eventually died.
Some of these curses could last for years before the victim even realized what was happening.
But what caught Yu Holea’s attention the most were Bloodline Curses.
These didn’t just affect one person—they were passed down through generations, haunting families for centuries.
If her family was truly cursed, then this might be the reason.
She took a deep breath, her hands trembling slightly.
"If my family is cursed, then it could be a bloodline curse," she murmured.
Qiao Jun’s expression turned serious.
"Then we need to figure out who placed it and how to break it."
Yu Holea nodded.
Just then another piece of curse information appeared in her mind: Contagious Curse.
These were the most unpredictable and dangerous curses. Unlike others, they didn’t just affect one person. Instead, they spread like a disease. If someone was cursed and came into contact with others, the curse could pass on. Some Contagious Curses spread through touch, while others needed a certain condition to activate—like speaking a specific word or stepping into a cursed place.
Yu Holea’s heartbeat quickened. If her family was dealing with a Contagious Curse, then it could explain why disaster followed them in every lifetime.
If the curse had spread among them, it would make sense why they were always separated or met tragic ends.
She clenched her fists. "This... this could be it."
"Huh?" Qiao Jun was confused about Yu Holea’s murmuring.
Yu Holea explained to him about the Contagious Curse.
Qiao Jun frowned. "You mean your family’s curse might be contagious?"
Yu Holea nodded.
"Think about it. In every lifetime, something bad happens to all of us, not just one person. If it was a simple Bloodline Curse, it would only affect direct family members. But if it’s a Contagious Curse, then anyone connected to us could be in danger."
Qiao Jun took a deep breath. "That means... I could be affected too."
Yu Holea’s eyes widened. She hadn’t thought about that. If the curse truly spread, then Qiao Jun, her friends, and even her future children could all be in danger. The thought sent a chill down her spine.
She grabbed his hands.
"Qiao Jun, you have to be careful. If this curse is real, I don’t want it to harm you too."
Qiao Jun smiled, squeezing her hands gently.
"I already said it before. I’m not leaving you alone in this."
Yu Holea’s chest tightened.
Suddenly she thought of how Qiao Jun had an accident.
Was it because of her curse too?
"Don’t overthink." Qiao Jun flicked a finger on her forehead. "I will not leave even if you are worried the curse might hurt me."
Yu Holea sighed.
She knew Qiao Jun was stubborn, and no matter how much she tried to push him away for his safety, he wouldn’t listen. She sighed. "Alright. But we have to be smart about this. If we rush in without understanding how the curse works, we could make things worse."
Qiao Jun nodded.
"Then we should start by finding out when it all began. There has to be a reason why your family is cursed."
Yu Holea thought for a moment.
"The best place to look would be the Yu family records. My grandfather might know something. If not, there must be old books or documents that can tell us more."
Qiao Jun crossed his arms.
"And if we don’t find anything?"
Yu Holea’s gaze darkened.
"Then we search elsewhere. The curse didn’t appear out of nowhere. Someone placed it, and someone must have left a trace."
"Correct."
Yu Holea and Qiao Jun decided to start their investigation the next day.
They planned to talk to Yu Holea’s grandfather first, as he was the oldest member of the family and might know something about their history.
The next morning, Yu Holea went to her grandfather’s study. He was sitting at his desk, reading an old book. When he saw her, he smiled warmly.
"Yu Holea, what brings you here?" he asked.
"Grandfather, I need to ask you something important," Yu Holea said, sitting down across from him.
"Do you know if our family has ever been... cursed?"
Her grandfather’s smile faded, and he looked thoughtful. "Cursed? What makes you ask that?"
Yu Holea explained everything Qiao Jun had told her—about how their family seemed to face tragedy in every lifetime, and how they were always separated or met terrible fates.
She also mentioned the possibility of a Bloodline Curse or a Contagious Curse.
Her grandfather listened carefully, his expression growing more serious as she spoke. When she finished, he sighed deeply.
"Hm. Let me think about it." Old Mr. Yu thought for a while before shaking his head, "No. I don’t think so."
Yu Holea frowned and after thinking, she asked,
"Then is there any person whom the Yu family has harmed till now?"
Old Mr. Yu’s face darkened as he recalled the past. He leaned back in his chair and sighed heavily.
"There may be one person," he said slowly. "But it happened a long time ago, during your father’s youth."
Yu Holea stiffened at the mention of Mr. Yu. She didn’t see him as her father.
He was just a man who shared blood with her, nothing more. But she remained silent and listened.
Old Mr. Yu continued,
"Years ago, when your father was still young, he went on a trip with his friends. They planned to hike through the mountains, but a sudden storm changed everything.
The heavy rain made it impossible to see, and strong winds knocked trees down. In the chaos, your father got separated from his group and fell down a steep slope. No one could find him."
He paused, his wrinkled fingers tapping against the wooden desk.
"Everyone thought he was dead. But after a few days, he returned... and he wasn’t alone."
Yu Holea frowned. "Who was with him?"
"A woman." Old Mr. Yu’s voice dropped to a whisper. "He said she saved his life."
Qiao Jun leaned forward. "Saved him? How?"
"He claimed she found him at the bottom of the mountain, unconscious and injured. She took him to a small wooden house deep in the forest and cared for him until he was well enough to leave."
Yu Holea narrowed her eyes. "And?"
Old Mr. Yu sighed.
"Your father was grateful. Too grateful. He believed he owed her his life, so in return... he married her."
Yu Holea blinked in surprise. "What?"
"He married her," Old Mr. Yu repeated, his face twisted with displeasure.
"He brought her back to S City and wanted to introduce her as his wife."
Yu Holea exchanged a glance with Qiao Jun.
"Why does it sound like you weren’t happy about it?" Qiao Jun asked.
Old Mr. Yu clenched his jaw.
"Because something about her was... wrong. I had a terrible feeling the moment I saw her. She was too quiet, too cold. She never showed any emotions. Her eyes... they were empty, like she wasn’t human."
Yu Holea shivered at the description. "What happened next?"
"I was against the marriage from the beginning. I told your father to leave her, but he was stubborn. He accused me of being cruel and heartless. In the end, he left the Yu Mansion with her."
Old Mr. Yu’s expression turned bitter.
"I let him go. If he wanted to ruin his life, so be it. But... a year later, he returned."
Yu Holea’s brows furrowed. "Alone?"
Old Mr. Yu nodded. "The woman was gone. Your father came back looking tired and broken. He said life outside the Yu family was too difficult. He had no money, no status, no home. He begged me to let him return."
Yu Holea scoffed. "And you let him?"
Old Mr. Yu’s face hardened.
"I made him promise that the woman was gone. He told me they had divorced, and she left without a trace. That was the only reason I allowed him back."
Silence filled the room. "That woman could possibly be Yu Mei’s mother." A cold voice sounded from the door.
