Chapter 682: Level 7 Talisman Pagoda
Chapter 682: Chapter 682: Level 7 Talisman Pagoda
Yu Holea spent the rest of her day with her family.
At night, when she was all by herself, she started to practice talismans.
During the past few years, she has practiced talisman-making occasionally.
Her level had risen to Level 6.
Now she could easily crave talismans on Jade or any other surface. She even learned how to integrate arrays with talismans.
"Congratulations, you have unlocked level 7 of the Talismans Pagoda." Zephyr’s voice sounded.
Yu Holea smiled.
Just as she was waiting for Zephyr to give her the scrolls, she heard Zephyr’s voice again,
"Yu Holea, there is a question, I would like to ask."
Yu Holea was stunned. In all years Zephyr had rarely called her by her name.
"Yes?"
"Would you like to give talisman Pagoda to someone else?"
"Hm?" Yu Holea was stunned. "Uh...I am sorry, did I make any mistake?"
Zephyr’s melodious voice sounded,
"No. Just, earlier this world needed talisman Pagoda’s power to summon an immortal and defeat the Dark Lord, however, now the Dark Lord’s presence has vanished. I have been observing the situation, and 5 years have passed since the Dark Lord has vanished."
Yu Holea wasn’t surprised.
She knew from the Goddess in the past 4 years about the Dark Lord’s presence, and how he will never return to this world.
The Goddess had told her that the Dark Lord had retreated to create a bigger chaos, and started to create his own army, intending to return to her world later and take revenge.
But what the Dark lord didn’t know was, that the Goddess had already reported to the Heavens about the Dark Lord’s plan.
The Heavenly Dao of the world had changed. Now the Dark Lord could never return to her world.
So the existence of talisman Pagoda was indeed unsuitable.
Yu Holea didn’t disagree, instead, she asked,
"So after leaving me where would you go?"
"For that...I will need your help." Zephyr’s voice sounded a bit hesitant this time.
"Sure." Yu Holea agreed readily. "Tell me what can I do for you?"
"Can you ask one of the candidates of Goddess City to open a portal for me and give me to an individual who truly needs me and will change the world with my help?" Zephyr asked.
Yu Holea felt ashamed hearing Zephyr’s world.
Even though she was the first contractor of Talisman Pagoda, she hardly raised awareness about talismans in her world.
Each artifact has its own goals too, especially when it gains a spirit.
Zephyr too has a selfish goal. It wants everyone to see the earth-shattering powers of talisman.
"I will do it." Yu Holea agreed.
"So do you want to learn level 7 of the talisman Pagoda?" Zephyr asked.
Yu Holea thought for a while and asked,
"What knowledge does it offer?"
"Talisman integration with curse," Zephyr replied. "It will allow you to merge curses into your talismans, making them much stronger. You can use it for protection, attack, or even control enemies."
Yu Holea thought about it carefully.
She had learned a lot about talismans over the years, and she knew how powerful they could be. But curses...
Curses were dangerous.
They could harm people in ways that were hard to undo. Even if she only used them against enemies, what if something went wrong? What if an innocent person got hurt?
She took a deep breath and shook her head.
"No, I don’t want to learn it," she said firmly.
Zephyr was silent for a moment. "Why not?"
Yu Holea explained,
"Curses are too risky. Once placed, they are hard to remove. Even if I use them with good intentions, things might not go as planned. I don’t want to create something that could cause suffering."
Zephyr hummed in thought.
"That is a wise answer. But you do understand that curses can be used for good too, right? Some can protect or heal."
Yu Holea nodded.
"I know. But I don’t think I’m the right person to use them. My goal is to help people, not control or harm them.
If someone else learns from the Talisman Pagoda in the future, maybe they will be better suited for this knowledge."
Not to mention, if she made a curse talisman and by mistake, it landed in the hands of evil people, then she won’t be able to forgive herself.
Just as she thought so, the space in her room distorted a little before a figure appeared.
Yu Holea raised an eyebrow when she saw Qiao Jun and asked,
"What are you doing here?"
"Just making sure that the cabbage I want to eat is not being gnawed at by some other pig." Qiao Jun commented and hugged Yu Holea from behind.
Yu Holea chuckled.
Qiao Jun pulled himself away from Yu Holea and turned her to face him,
"I have a theory, which I want to tell you."
Yu Holea raised an eyebrow,
"What is it?"
"So I think...your family is being haunted by some strange creature, a ghost, or has some curse?" Qiao Jun summarized everything into a one word.
"No...wait...what are you saying?" Yu Holea was baffled by such words.
"In the first lifetime, all the members of the Yu Family died.
In the second lifetime, all of them were separated. You were in some other world, while the Yu family might have given up one of their lifetimes to bring you, back into this world.
In this lifetime if I didn’t get to know the place’s name, you wouldn’t have reconciled with the Yu Family at all."
"But you did get to know about the place." Yu Holea interrupted him.
"That..." Qiao Jun scratched his nose before he lied, "I got a note from an unknown address, it had the name of the place. It also had said that if they didn’t tell me the name of the place, by the time I knew the place, it would have been too late."
Yu Holea frowned, thinking about Qiao Jun’s words.
"A note from an unknown address?" she repeated. "That sounds suspicious."
Qiao Jun nodded.
"I know. At first, I thought it was a prank, but the timing was too perfect. If I had waited longer, you might have never returned to your family."
Yu Holea bit her lip.
"So, you’re saying... something or someone is messing with my family’s fate?"
"Exactly." Qiao Jun’s expression turned serious.
"It’s like something is trying to stop your family from being together. In every lifetime, something terrible happens to separate you all. It can’t just be a coincidence."
Yu Holea felt a chill run down her spine.
She had never thought about it like that before, but now that Qiao Jun said it, it did seem strange.
"Then... what do we do?" she asked.
"We need to find out who or what is behind this," Qiao Jun said.
"If your family is cursed or being haunted, we need to break it before something bad happens again."
Yu Holea took a deep breath.
"Alright. But where do we start?"
Qiao Jun thought for a moment before saying, "First, we should check if there’s any record of strange things happening to your family in the past. Maybe your grandfather or parents know something."
Yu Holea nodded. "That makes sense. I’ll ask them tomorrow."
Qiao Jun smiled. "Good. And don’t worry, whatever it is, we’ll deal with it together."
Yu Holea felt warmth in her heart at his words. She reached out and held his hand.
"Thank you," she said softly.
Qiao Jun grinned. "Of course. After all, I can’t let my cabbage get stolen, right?"
Yu Holea rolled her eyes but laughed.
Qiao Jun smirked and pulled her into a hug.
Just then Zephyr’s voice sounded in Yu Holea’s head,
"So what is your decision?"
Yu Holea froze for a moment when she heard Zephyr’s voice in her head.
She had already decided not to learn Level 7 because of the risks of curses.
But now, after what Qiao Jun had said, she wasn’t so sure anymore.
If her family really was cursed, then maybe learning about curse talismans wasn’t such a bad idea.
She didn’t have to use them to harm people—maybe she could find a way to break curses instead.
She took a deep breath and closed her eyes.
"Zephyr," she said in her mind, "I changed my decision. I want to learn Level 7."
"Oh?" Zephyr sounded surprised. "What made you change your mind?"
"I won’t use curse talismans to attack or control others," Yu Holea explained.
"But if there’s a way to use them to remove a curse, then I need to learn. My family might be cursed, and I can’t just ignore it."
Zephyr was silent for a few seconds, then replied,
"Very well. Since you have a clear goal, I will pass down the Level 7 knowledge to you."
A golden scroll appeared in front of Yu Holea, floating in the air. She reached out and touched it.
Instantly, streams of information poured into her mind.
