Chapter 661: Chapter 661: Goldfish
Meanwhile, Lin Meixi and her assistant stormed down the hallway, their faces dark with frustration.
"Who does she think she is?" the assistant hissed.
"She’s just an E-Rank actress! How dare she embarrass us like that!"
Lin Meixi didn’t respond right away.
She was too busy clenching her jaw and trying to control her rising anger. Finally, she spoke, her voice icy.
"She’ll pay for this," Lin Meixi muttered. "No one humiliates me and gets away with it."
The assistant nodded eagerly.
"Don’t worry, Miss Lin. We’ll find a way to make her regret crossing you."
Back in her room, Yu Holea stretched her arms and stood up, her expression serene.
She wasn’t one to dwell on petty conflicts.
There was work to do, and she wasn’t about to let a spoiled actress ruin her focus.
The knock on her door interrupted her thoughts.
She walked over and opened it, finding a crew member standing there with a clipboard.
"Miss Yu, we’ll need you on set in fifteen minutes for the next scene," the crew member informed her.
Yu Holea nodded. "Got it. I’ll be there."
As the crew member left, she grabbed her script and quickly went over her lines one last time.
She wanted to be fully prepared.
When she arrived on set, the atmosphere was tense.
Lin Meixi was already there, standing near the director, her face still tight with irritation.
The assistant director was explaining the scene to the cast, but Lin Meixi’s eyes kept darting toward Yu Holea, filled with unspoken resentment.
Yu Holea ignored her. She greeted the crew politely and took her position.
The scene was a dramatic one, involving a heated argument between her character and Lin Meixi.
The irony wasn’t lost on anyone, and the tension between the two actresses added an extra layer of intensity to the performance.
"Action!" the director called.
Lin Meixi delivered her lines with sharp precision, her voice dripping with venom.
She pointed an accusing finger at Yu Holea’s character, her eyes blazing with fake tears.
"You think you’re better than everyone else just because you’ve had a little success? You’re nothing but a fraud!"
Yu Holea’s turn came,
"Fraud? Let me tell you, every little success is built by the sweat of countless sleepless nights."
Lin Meixi chuckled,
"Stupid. Do you think just because you have money, you can stand on the top? Let me tell you Song Hanxi, will never like a shallow person like you."
Yu Holea calmly swirled the glass in her hand and smiled,
"He will. The irony of life is, that the people who say happiness can’t be bought by money, don’t actually have enough money for their happiness.
I may or may not be able to win Song Hanxi and that will depend on how practical he is."
Lin Meixi smirked,
"Is that so? Then all the very best. Lets see if you will be able to keep this attitude in the future."
The crew watched in awe as the two actresses went back and forth, their chemistry undeniable.
Even the director seemed impressed, his eyes lighting up as he watched the scene unfold.
"Cut! That was perfect!" he said, clapping his hands together.
"Both of you did an amazing job!"
Lin Meixi forced a smile, but her eyes betrayed her true feelings.
She hated that Yu Holea had managed to shine despite everything.
Soon the shooting of the next scene was started. In the scene, Lin Meixi had to push Yu Holea in the water, because Yu Holea’s character had dared to harm the female lead.
Lin Meixi was the female lead’s sister and always clashed with Yu Holea for the sake of her sister.
To save up money, the shooting was done inside.
When the set was ready, the scene began.
Lin Meixi showed an angry expression and shouted,
"How dare you harm my sister!"
Lin Meixi’s voice was loud and filled with fake rage. She pointed her finger at Yu Holea, her character brimming with fury.
Yu Holea, on the other hand, kept her calm. Her character was supposed to be composed, unbothered by the accusations.
With a mocking smile on her face, she said,
"Her? She is too weak. I only invited her for a tea party, who would have thought that my friends would accidentally push her in the water?"
"You are lying!" Lin Meixi screamed, her voice echoing through the set. "You’re nothing but a snake, and I’ll make you pay!"
Lin Meixi raised her hands and gave Yu Holea a hard shove. Yu Holea stumbled backward, falling into the large water tank behind her.
The splash was loud, and water went everywhere.
Yu Holea emerged from the water, her hair dripping and her clothes soaked. She kept her expression steady, perfectly in character.
The director shouted,
"Cut!" and clapped his hands.
"Great work! That was exactly what I wanted. Excellent, both of you!"
Lin Meixi smirked, clearly pleased with herself. She crossed her arms and watched as Yu Holea climbed out of the water.
"Oops," Lin Meixi said in a mocking tone. "I guess I pushed a little too hard."
Yu Holea didn’t react.
She grabbed a towel handed to her by a crew member and calmly dried her face.
"It’s fine," Yu Holea replied coolly. "A little water doesn’t bother me."
The director called for a break, and the crew began resetting the scene for another take.
Lin Meixi’s assistant hurried over with a smug smile.
"Miss Yu," she said, her tone dripping with fake concern. "Are you okay? That looked like a hard fall."
Yu Holea raised an eyebrow. "I’m fine. Thanks for asking."
The assistant’s smile faltered when she realized Yu Holea wasn’t rattled.
Lin Meixi scoffed. "You’re tougher than you look," she said, flipping her hair. "But let’s see how long you can keep up."
Yu Holea didn’t reply.
Instead, she closed her eyes and said silently in her heart,
’Master I am not harming her...I am just returning her favor. Please don’t be angry.’
With that Yu Holea opened her eyes and discreetly flicked two talismans in Lin Meixi and the assistant’s direction.
The next second Lin Meixi and her assistant fainted.
Lin Meixi and her assistant lay sprawled on the floor, their eyes shut tightly as they twitched and murmured in their unconscious state. The crew rushed over, unsure of what had just happened.
In their dream, Lin Meixi and her assistant found themselves standing on the edge of a high cliff. Below them was a massive, swirling pool of water.
The sound of rushing waves and crashing tides filled the air, and the sheer force of the water made their knees tremble.
Out of nowhere, a strong gust of wind blew, and both of them lost their balance.
"No! No! I don’t want to fall!" Lin Meixi screamed, flailing her arms as she felt herself slipping closer to the edge.
Her assistant wasn’t any better.
"Help! Somebody help me!" she cried, her voice high-pitched with terror.
Before they could grab onto anything, they were both shoved from behind, tumbling down into the icy water below.
The splash felt too real, and the coldness seeped into their bones.
They flailed helplessly in the water, gasping for air, their screams echoing in the dream world.
"Please, no more water!" Lin Meixi begged, her voice hoarse. "I’ll do anything! Just let me out!"
Back in the real world, Lin Meixi and her assistant suddenly jolted awake, their faces pale and drenched in sweat.
They sat up, looking around wildly as if expecting to see the water around them.
"I don’t want to be pushed again!" Lin Meixi shrieked, clutching her assistant’s arm.
"Me neither! No more water, please!" the assistant wailed, her eyes wide with fear.
The crew exchanged confused glances, unsure of what had just happened. One of them whispered,
"Did they get possessed or something? That was weird."
Yu Holea, who had been quietly sipping her tea, finally spoke up, her voice calm but with a hint of mischief.
"Maybe they’re under some kind of curse," she said, pretending to be deep in thought.
"There’s an old trick my grandma used to do to get rid of bad dreams."
The crew’s ears perked up, and even Lin Meixi and her assistant looked at her with a mix of fear and curiosity.
"What trick?" asked one of the crew members.
Yu Holea smiled faintly.
"It’s simple. You just need to carry a live goldfish around in a small bowl for the rest of the day. They say the fish absorbs all the bad energy and keeps nightmares away."
Lin Meixi’s eyes widened. "A goldfish? Are you serious?"
Yu Holea nodded solemnly.
"Absolutely. But you have to carry it everywhere—on set, during breaks, even to the bathroom. Otherwise, the curse might come back."
The crew burst into laughter, some of them barely able to hold it in.
"YU HOLEA! Are you trying to mock me? Let me tell you, I will never do such an embarrassing thing in my life!" Lin Meixi shouted.
