Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All
Chapter 625: Relative

Chapter 625: Chapter 625: Relative

Old Mrs. Yu sat on the sofa like a queen on her throne, while Yu Mei perched delicately on the edge, her phone discreetly aimed to capture everything.

Yu Holea sat down on a chair opposite them, her posture relaxed but her eyes sharp.

"Holea, I’ve been thinking about you," Old Mrs. Yu began, her voice adopting a tone of false concern.

"You’re single now, aren’t you? A girl your age needs to settle down."

Yu Holea’s lips twitched, her instincts screaming that something unpleasant was coming. She didn’t respond, letting Old Mrs. Yu continue.

"Well," the old woman said, her face lighting up as though she were delivering the best news of Yu Holea’s life,

"I’ve taken it upon myself to find you a match. A husband who will take care of you and guide you properly. Someone who can... discipline you."

Yu Holea’s expression remained neutral, but internally, she felt her irritation bubbling.

"Oh?" she said coolly. "And who might these matches be?"

Old Mrs. Yu straightened, a gleam in her eye as she launched into her list.

"First, there’s Mr. Zhang. He’s a successful businessman in construction. He’s a bit older, but age means wisdom, doesn’t it?"

Yu Mei jumped in, her tone overly enthusiastic.

"Mr. Zhang is amazing, Holea! You’d be so lucky to marry someone like him. Grandmother’s really thinking of your future."

Yu Holea tilted her head, her gaze steady. "Go on," she said, her tone unreadable.

"Then there’s Mr. Liu," Old Mrs. Yu continued.

"A retired army officer. He’s strict and knows how to maintain order. Just the kind of husband you need to straighten you out."

"Discipline is important in a marriage," Yu Mei chimed in, casting a sly glance at Yu Holea. "Grandmother is so thoughtful."

"And finally, Mr. Wang," Old Mrs. Yu said, beaming.

"He’s a widower with three children. You’d make a wonderful stepmother, Holea. It would teach you humility and responsibility."

Yu Mei clasped her hands together, a faux-envious look on her face.

"I’m so jealous, Holea. Grandmother cares so much about you. To think she’d find such amazing men for you!"

Yu Holea leaned back in her chair, crossing her legs. She let their words hang in the air for a moment before speaking.

"How thoughtful of you, Grandmother," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

"It’s so generous of you to consider matches like these for me. Truly, I’m touched."

Old Mrs. Yu, missing the sarcasm entirely, preened under what she believed to be praise. "I only want the best for you, Holea. You should be grateful."

Yu Mei hid a smile behind her hand, enjoying the spectacle.

Suddenly the smile on Yu Holea’s face disappears and she says,

"If Miss Yu Mei, truly thinks they are a good match why don’t take my place? I don’t mind handing over these people to you."

Yu Mei froze at Yu Holea’s calm yet cutting words.

Her lips parted slightly, her usual composure slipping.

Quickly recovering, she plastered on a look of mock innocence and hurt, clasping her hands to her chest as if she’d been grievously wronged.

"Holea!" Yu Mei exclaimed, her voice trembling with an exaggerated mix of shock and dismay.

"How could you say such a thing? I’m already engaged to Leng Huan. You know that! Are you trying to ruin my relationship? I would never do something so despicable."

Her dramatic tone worked its magic as the livestream’s comment section erupted.

"What a jealous woman! Trying to take her sister’s fiancé? Unbelievable!"

"Yu Holea is such a troublemaker. Poor Yu Mei."

"She’s just bitter that she’s still single. Pathetic."

"Who even is this Yu Holea? She sounds awful."

Yu Holea chuckled softly, the sound sharp and cold, cutting through the room like a blade.

"Oh, Yu Mei," she said, her tone light yet laced with mockery.

"I truly believed you were envious of these fine gentlemen Grandmother selected for me. I only wanted to share such blessings with you. Isn’t sharing what family does?"

Yu Mei clenched her fists, her expression twitching before she forced a weak smile.

"How thoughtful of you, Holea," she said through gritted teeth.

"But like I said, I’m already engaged to someone I love. Unlike you, I’m not struggling to find a match."

The comments exploded again, echoing Yu Mei’s words.

"Yu Mei is such a kind soul to put up with this."

"Yu Holea needs to stay in her lane. Desperate much?"

"Why is this girl even on stream? She’s ruining the vibe."

Yu Holea ignored the noise, her gaze steady as she turned to Old Mrs. Yu.

"It’s kind of you, Grandmother," she said, her voice dripping with sweetness, "to worry so much about my future. But I must tell you, I already have someone in my life."

The words hit the room like a bomb. Old Mrs. Yu’s pleasant expression soured instantly.

Her face twisted into a scowl, and her voice rose sharply.

"What nonsense are you saying, Holea? I’ve heard about that hooligan you’re seeing. A good-for-nothing troublemaker! You’ll break up with him immediately. Do you understand me?"

Yu Holea’s smile remained, unfazed by the older woman’s harsh tone.

"Thank you for your concern, Grandmother," she said evenly, "but my personal relationships are none of your business."

The comment section ignited once more.

"Did she just talk back to her grandmother? So disrespectful!"

"She must really be shameless to defend a hooligan boyfriend."

"Poor Grandma. Yu Holea is so ungrateful."

"is it just me or do others too feel a bit uncomfortable with granny? Why is she so pushy?" Someone commented but his comment was drowned in between other comments.

Yu Mei seized the opportunity to escalate.

"Holea!" she said, her tone sharp and scolding. "How can you speak to Grandmother like that? She’s only trying to guide you. Don’t you know it’s wrong to disrespect your elders?"

Some viewers in the comment section agreed, piling on criticisms, while others seemed to catch onto something else.

"Wait, why does she keep calling Yu Holea her sister if she’s this awful?"

"I’m confused. What’s the relationship here?"

"Yeah, Yu Mei, explain! Why are you even around this girl?"

Yu Mei’s face stiffened for a brief moment before she recovered, switching to a sympathetic yet condescending tone.

"Oh, I should clarify," she said, addressing her viewers while keeping the camera angle just right.

"Holea isn’t my real sister. She’s a distant relative. My parents, being the kind-hearted people they are, took her in when she lost her parents in a flood."

She glanced at Yu Holea, her gaze filled with faux pity.

"She grew up in the countryside for fifteen years and, well... let’s just say her grades were passable.

She’s had a difficult life, and we’ve tried to help her, but it’s hard when someone doesn’t appreciate what you’ve done for them."

Yu Holea’s expression remained neutral, but her hands clenched into fists at her sides. She refused to let the bitterness show.

The comment section, however, exploded once again.

"Wow, so ungrateful after everything Yu Mei’s family did for her!"

"No wonder she’s like this. She grew up in the countryside!"

"Wait, is this the same Yu Holea from that movie? Ugh, boycotting her immediately."

Yu Mei smiled sweetly, clearly enjoying the growing tide of disdain directed at Yu Holea.

"I just hope," she said, addressing the camera, "that everyone can understand why I’m so patient with her. It’s not easy, but family is family."

Yu Holea’s gaze sharpened, her lips curling into a small, dangerous smile.

"Indeed, Yu Mei," she said softly, her tone calm yet carrying an undercurrent of warning.

"Family is family. That’s why I let you sit here despite your... creative storytelling."

Yu Mei’s smile faltered slightly, but she quickly recovered.

"I’m just sharing the truth, Holea. My fans deserve honesty."

"Oh, honesty?" Yu Holea said, leaning forward slightly, her tone turning icy.

"Shall we share some more truths, then? About how you’ve been... managing your so-called honesty?"

Yu Mei’s face paled, and she quickly laughed nervously.

"There’s no need for that, Holea. Let’s not air family matters on a public platform."

Yu Holea leaned back, satisfied for now, but her eyes promised that she wouldn’t let this end so easily.

Old Mrs. Yu’s scowl deepened, and she slammed her cane against the floor with an air of imperious authority.

Her voice, sharp and commanding, filled the room.

"Yu Holea! How dare you speak to Mei Mei like that? She’s always been nothing but kind to you, and this is how you repay her? Such insolence!"

Yu Holea met the old woman’s glare without flinching, her smile unfaltering yet cold.

"Kindness, Grandmother?" she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Yes, Yu Mei’s ’kindness’ has always been... remarkable."

The comment section of the live stream buzzed with activity again, some viewers eating up the drama while others continued to vilify Yu Holea.

"Holea’s got no shame. Poor Grandma is just trying to help!"

"Yu Mei has been so patient, and this is how Holea thanks her?"
