Chapter 626: Last Wish?

Chapter 626: Chapter 626: Last Wish?

"Holea’s acting bold for someone who’s basically a charity case."

Old Mrs. Yu straightened in her seat, her voice rising dramatically.

"If you don’t do as I say, Holea," she declared, "I’ll go on a hunger strike! I will not eat until you break up with that hooligan and accept the match I’ve arranged for you. You’ll bring shame upon this family otherwise!"

Yu Holea laughed—a low, amused sound that carried no warmth.

"A hunger strike, Grandmother? How noble of you. But let me remind you..."

She leaned forward slightly, her voice dropping into a tone that cut through the room.

"If you don’t back down and leave me alone, I’ll make sure everyone sees this."

From her purse, she produced a crisp document and waved it in the air.

The elegant script at the top read, "Letter of Severance."

Old Mrs. Yu’s eyes widened in shock, and a hush fell over the room.

Even Yu Mei seemed momentarily stunned, her mouth opening and closing as if searching for words.

Yu Holea’s smile was razor-sharp as she continued, addressing the audience as much as her grandmother.

"This letter," she explained coolly, "is a legal document severing all ties between me and this so-called ’family.’ I’ve kept quiet out of respect, but if you keep pushing, Grandmother, I won’t hesitate to make this public. Let’s see how your reputation holds up after that."

"A LETTER OF SEVERANCE? What’s going on here?"

"Is Holea bluffing, or is this real? This family sounds toxic."

"Wait, why does she even have a letter like that? Something feels off."

The color drained from Old Mrs. Yu’s face, but Yu Mei recovered quickly, her expression hardening.

"Holea," she said through clenched teeth, "you’re crossing the line. Grandmother only wants what’s best for you. How could you even think of threatening her like this?"

Yu Holea turned her icy gaze to Yu Mei, her smile never reaching her eyes.

"And you," she said softly, her tone venomous, "have exactly two hours to clarify the truth about this entire farce. If you don’t, I promise you, Yu Mei, I’ll slap that deceitful smile off your face until there’s no place left for you to hide."

Yu Mei’s face turned a furious shade of red, her carefully constructed mask of composure crumbling as she stammered,

"Y-You wouldn’t dare! This is a live stream—everyone’s watching! They’ll see how violent and unstable you really are!"

Yu Holea chuckled, the sound sending a chill down the spines of everyone in the room.

"Oh, Mei Mei," she said mockingly, "if you’re so confident, why don’t you test me? I’ve nothing to lose, but you..."

She gestured vaguely toward the phone still streaming their interaction. "...have built your little empire on lies. I wonder how quickly it’ll all crumble once the truth comes out."

The comment section exploded.

"OMG, this is getting intense. Who’s lying here?!"

"Yu Mei looks like she’s about to explode. Maybe Holea’s onto something."

"Okay, I’m starting to feel like Yu Mei isn’t as innocent as she pretends."

Yu Mei clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms as her carefully curated façade began to crack.

The tension in the room was palpable, and Old Mrs. Yu, recovering from her initial shock, attempted to regain control.

"Enough, Holea!" she barked, her voice trembling with a mix of anger and fear. "Apologize to Mei Mei and end this nonsense at once!"

But Yu Holea simply leaned back in her chair, completely unbothered.

"The clock’s ticking, Mei Mei," she said lazily, glancing at the wall clock. "Two hours. Don’t make me remind you again."

Old Mrs. Yu, her face twisted in a fury, grabbed her cane and waved it threateningly at Yu Holea.

"You insolent girl! I’ll teach you some respect today!" she shrieked, lifting the stick as though to strike.

Yu Holea didn’t even flinch. With a calm smile, she sidestepped the wild swing with practiced ease.

Old Mrs. Yu stumbled slightly, glaring at her granddaughter with anger.

"Careful, Grandmother," Yu Holea said smoothly, her voice laced with mock concern.

"You might hurt yourself if you’re not careful."

The Livestream comments exploded again:

"She dodged it like it was nothing. Is she a ninja or something?"

"Old Mrs. Yu is losing it. This family is insane!"

"Honestly, I’m starting to root for Yu Holea. This is messed up."

Meanwhile, Yu Mei sat frozen.

She glanced at her phone, desperate for a distraction. As she scrolled through the news feed, a headline caught her attention:

"Rising Star Yu Holea’s Family Scandal: Arranged Marriage Rumors Spark Controversy."

Her eyes widened as she tapped the article.

To her horror, it detailed Old Mrs. Yu’s meddling and the supposed matches being arranged for Yu Holea.

The article’s tone was critical, painting the family’s actions as outdated and controlling.

.........

In the Yu Sicong’s mansion.

Mrs. Yu was scrolling through some reels when suddenly she saw the name of her daughter in the trending news.

Her brow furrowed as she tapped on the article.

The more she read, the tighter her grip became on the phone.

"What in the world...?" she muttered, her voice rising. Her disbelief quickly morphed into fury as she pieced together the situation.

The article detailed Old Mrs. Yu’s interference in Yu Holea’s personal life and the alleged pressure to accept an arranged marriage.

Mrs. Yu shot to her feet, seething.

"Those old bats! Yu Mei and that scheming mother-in-law of mine—how dare they!"

Without wasting another moment, she dialed Yu Sicong’s number.

"Sicong, where are you?" Mrs. Yu demanded as soon as the line connected.

"I’m at the office, Mom. What’s going on?" Yu Sicong’s voice was calm but he grew concerned when he heard the anger in hers.

"Your grandmother and that meddlesome Yu Mei are at Holea’s villa, trying to force her into some arranged marriage nonsense! And now it’s all over the news! They’re humiliating Holea."

Yu Sicong’s tone turned serious.

"They’re pushing her? That’s outrageous. Don’t worry, Mom—I’ll come pick you up right now, and we’ll head straight to the villa."

"Hurry," Mrs. Yu urged. "The longer we leave them alone, the worse this could get."

"I’m on my way," Yu Sicong assured her before hanging up.

Still fuming, Mrs. Yu immediately dialed Yu Shuchang. He answered on the second ring.

"Mom? What’s wrong?" Yu Shuchang asked, picking up on her agitation.

"It’s Holea," Mrs. Yu said sharply.

"Your grandmother and Yu Mei are bullying her again, trying to arrange a marriage behind her back. Your brother and I are heading to her villa now, but it’ll take us at least an hour to get there."

"What?" Yu Shuchang’s voice rose in alarm. "Where’s Holea? Is she okay?"

"She’s holding her ground, but I don’t trust those two not to cause more trouble. Where are you? Can you get there faster?"

"I’m out of town for a meeting," Yu Shuchang admitted, frustration evident in his tone.

"It’ll take me even longer to get there. But I’ll call Sheng Yin. She’s probably close by."

"Good," Mrs. Yu said. "Tell her to go immediately. We can’t let those two have their way with Holea!"

She didn’t ask Yu Shuchang about Sheng Yin since she was preoccupied with Yu Holea’s matter.

"I’ll handle it, Mom," Yu Shuchang promised before hanging up.

................

Sheng Yin had just finished her photoshoot and was driving home when her phone buzzed. Seeing Yu Shuchang’s name, she answered calmly, "Yes?"

"Yin," Yu Shuchang interrupted, his voice tight, "Holea’s in trouble."

The smile vanished from Sheng Yin’s face. "What happened?"

"Grandmother and Yu Mei are at her villa, bullying her about some ridiculous arranged marriage.

Mom and Sicong are on their way, but they won’t get there for an hour. You’re closer, right? Can you get to the villa now?"

Sheng Yin gritted her teeth, gripping the steering wheel.

"Those harpies! Of course, I’ll go. They’re not laying another finger on her while I’m around."

"Yin, just... don’t do anything too drastic," Yu Shuchang said, though he sounded relieved.

Sheng Yin snorted.

"Don’t worry about me. Worry about whether they’ll still have the nerve to show their faces after I’m done with them."

She hung up and floored the accelerator.

................

Back in the villa.

Yu Holea was in a tense situation.

Just now Old Madam Yu who was brandishing her stick in the air, suddenly collapsed on the ground.

Her body was starting to twitch.

Yu Mei hurriedly stopped touching the bracelet she had been touching till now, and knelt in front of Old Madam Yu with a concerned expression,

"Grandmother? Grandmother, what is happening to you?"

In a panic, she glared at Yu Holea and said with resentment,

"Yu Holea, are you happy now? Are you happy to see your benefactor sprawled on the ground and in a dire situation?"

Her eyes turned moist,

"Yu Holea, she only has one wish and that is to see you get married! Why can’t you fulfill her wish? Can’t you do so little for your grandmother?"
