Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All -
Chapter 608: Marlow
Chapter 608: Chapter 608: Marlow
With a furious scream, the ghost ripped the talisman off and charged again, this time swinging its shadowy claws in rapid succession.
Yu Holea dodged with ease, sidestepping gracefully as if in a choreographed dance.
She even had the audacity to check her nails mid-spin.
"You’re predictable," she said, tossing another talisman like a Frisbee.
It sliced through the air and stuck to the ghost’s arm, causing it to wail in pain.
"ARGH! STOP DOING THAT!" the ghost roared, flailing its arm.
"Why? It’s fun," Yu Holea replied, her tone dripping with mock innocence.
She pulled out a handful of talismans and fanned them out like a deck of cards. "Want to see my rapid-fire technique?"
Before the ghost could respond, Yu Holea launched the talismans one after the other with uncanny speed and accuracy.
"Left shoulder. Right shoulder. Forehead again. Oops, missed the elbow—there we go!" she narrated with exaggerated cheerfulness.
The ghost was now glowing like a spectral Christmas tree, covered in talismans from head to toe. It stumbled back, looking more annoyed than terrifying.
"I’M NOT A DARTBOARD!" it screeched, trying to peel the papers off.
Yu Holea crossed her arms, her smirk widening. "You sure? Because I’m scoring a perfect game right now."
The ghost gave one last, desperate roar and tried to envelop her in its shadowy form.
But the moment it got close, Yu Holea held up a final talisman.
"Alright, time to wrap this up. Thanks for the entertainment, though. You’ve got potential!" she said, slapping the talisman onto the ghost’s core.
A bright golden light erupted, filling the room.
The ghost let out one last frustrated wail before disintegrating into harmless wisps of energy.
Yu Holea dusted off her hands, looking completely unfazed. "They just don’t make scary ghosts like they used to," she said with a sigh.
...............
In another room dimly lit with flickering candles, Vivian sat beside Aunt Mila, both staring at a large crystal orb that projected Yu Holea’s ghost-slaying performance in vivid detail.
The once-terrifying spirit was now little more than a sparkling wisp of energy, dissipating under Yu Holea’s nonchalant watch.
Vivian’s face twisted with anger, her manicured nails digging into the armrest of her chair.
"That’s it? That’s the vengeful spirit you promised would humble her?"
Aunt Mila, equally irate, slammed her fist on the table. The crystal orb flickered momentarily under her force.
"I paid you a fortune, Master Zhou! A fortune! And this is what you deliver? A second-rate specter? She turned it into a glowing Christmas tree!"
Across the room, the supposed "Celestial Master" Zhou—a frail, white-bearded man in flowing celestial robes—stood frozen in disbelief.
His bushy brows furrowed as he rubbed his temples, muttering incoherently.
Vivian snapped her fingers at him.
"Are you even listening? What was that pathetic display?"
Master Zhou raised a shaky hand, gesturing for silence.
"Hush, foolish child!" His voice cracked with frustration, though it still carried an air of wisdom.
"That was not just any spirit! It was a Spectral Wraith, one of the most feared entities in the spirit realm. Only a true master of exorcism could’ve handled it so effortlessly."
Aunt Mila scoffed. "Effortlessly? She barely broke a sweat!"
"She was taunting it!" Vivian shrieked, flinging her hands dramatically toward the orb. "She called it a dartboard! Do you know how humiliating this is?!"
Master Zhou paced in circles, clutching his beard.
"This... this is unprecedented. I’ve dealt with countless exorcists, and none have displayed such ease against a Spectral Wraith."
He turned sharply to face them, his eyes wide with a mix of awe and fear.
"Do you have any idea who you’re dealing with? Yu Holea is not an ordinary woman. Her spiritual energy is leagues above what I’ve encountered before."
Vivian folded her arms, glaring.
"You’re saying she’s stronger than you?"
Master Zhou flinched as if the question itself was a personal insult.
"It’s not about strength alone! Her techniques are precise, her reflexes unparalleled, and—"
"She checked her nails mid-fight!" Aunt Mila interrupted, her voice dripping with disdain.
Master Zhou was ashamed.
The truth was, he was indeed inferior compared to Yu Holea.
However, he refused to admit it.
Yet he kept a straight face and said,
"I’m saying that if you wish to challenge Yu Holea, you’ll need more than borrowed spirits and petty schemes. She is not to be underestimated."
Aunt Mila leaned forward, her eyes narrowing.
"Then what do you suggest? Are you going to find a stronger ghost? Perhaps a demon this time?"
Master Zhou sighed deeply, looking genuinely troubled.
"Summoning anything stronger would put your own lives in jeopardy. If she could dismantle the Wraith so easily, what do you think she’ll do to something that turns on you?"
The medium to summon the ghost was Vivian and Aunt Mila’s blood. With their blood, they controlled the ghost, if they dared to summon a demon, they might get killed by it before they could order the demon.
Vivian and Aunt Mila exchanged uneasy glances, the weight of Zhou’s words sinking in.
Vivian clenched her fists, her voice shaking with frustration.
"I don’t care what it takes. I want her humiliated! She can’t just prance around like she’s untouchable!"
Master Zhou stared at her for a long moment, then shook his head.
"Be careful what you wish for, child. Yu Holea is not your average foe. If you continue down this path, you may regret it more than you realize."
With that, he turned away, muttering under his breath about reckless mortals and the foolishness of greed.
Vivian glared at his retreating form. "We’ll see about that, Zhou. Everyone has a weakness. I’ll find hers."
................
Yu Holea was investigating from where the ghost had come when her phone rang.
Looking at the unknown number flashing on her phone, Yu Holea picked it up.
Sure enough, from the other side Olivia’s cheerful voice came,
"Holea have you reached?"
Yu Holea was silent before answering,
"Yes."
"Great. We are in the private room, come quickly." Olivia’s voice was laced with anticipation.
Yu Holea’s brows furrowed. Now she couldn’t guess whether it was indeed Olivia who was behind the attack or not.
Yu Holea lowered her phone and stared at the screen for a moment.
Olivia’s cheerful tone didn’t match someone who might have orchestrated an ambush. Still, her instincts told her to tread cautiously.
She walked out of the room and read the room number. To her surprise, the room number had changed at some point.
Olivia had called in room number 20, but she had entered room number 21.
Yu Holea’s eyes narrowed.
Did she see it wrong or...was it all planned by Olivia?
Yu Holea decided to observe Olivia, before reaching any conclusion.
Meanwhile, in the private room, Olivia was chatting animatedly with a few others at the table. The elegant space was filled with soft lighting and the faint aroma of gourmet dishes.
The moment Yu Holea entered, Olivia beamed, jumping up from her seat.
"There you are!" Olivia said with a bright smile. She rushed over to Yu Holea, grabbing her arm as though they were lifelong friends.
"We were beginning to think you’d gotten lost."
Yu Holea’s expression remained neutral as she let herself be led to the table. Her gaze subtly scanned everyone present.
There was a fair-skinned woman and a man who looked just like Olivia. Both of them looked as if they were in their early 40s.
It wasn’t difficult for Yu Holea to guess that they were Olivia’s parents.
Both of them had a genuine smile on their face. It was difficult to guess whether they were evil people or not.
Yu Holea however had a cheat code.
She could glance at their destiny ring and know about them. Without hesitation, she activated her third eye and stared at their destiny ring.
To her surprise, they had a golden ring above their head.
However, Yu Holea didn’t rush to judge on the basis of the destiny ring. No kidding even Aunt Mila and Vivian had a golden destiny ring, but they for sure are not good.
Yu Holea’s eyes flashed and suddenly Vivian’s unreasonable demand flashed in her mind.
Why did Vivian insist on having dinner with her?
Maybe...maybe the culprit of today’s attack was her...
However...it can’t be ruled out that Olivia was involved too.
Yu Holea kept those thoughts at bay and put on a smile.
Olivia introduced her parents to Yu Holea cheerfully
"This is my mother Emily Marlow and this is my father Philip Marlow."
"Mr. and Mrs. Marlow, it’s a pleasure to meet you," Yu Holea said with a slight bow of her head, her tone respectful yet measured.
"Oh, please, just call us Philip and Emily," Olivia’s father said with a chuckle, his voice deep but friendly.
"Olivia’s told us so much about you," Emily added, her eyes sparkling with genuine curiosity. "We’ve been eager to meet her brilliant friend."
Yu Holea glanced at Olivia, who was grinning ear to ear. "I hope she hasn’t exaggerated too much," Yu said, her voice light.
"Not at all," Philip interjected
