Chapter 607:
Chapter 607: Chapter 607:
Qiao Jun smirked, he wrapped his hands around her waist and pulled her closer.
"After marriage, what excuse will you use?"
It took Yu Holea a few minutes to understand what Qiao Jun said. Her face slowly turned red, and she struggled to get away,
"I...I will complain to Mother! There is also Qiao Li!"
Qiao Jun laughed at Yu Holea’s naive words.
’Ah! His wife is so innocent. Does she truly think she can get away by using his mother and sister as a shield?’
Maybe she might get help from them for the first week but after that...
Qiao Jun was suddenly filled with patience. Thinking about the shock and helplessness Yu Holea would feel later, and she would have to listen to him in such matters later, his heart was filled with joy.
Let her be angry. He will coax her till she is satisfied.
In a good mood, he changed the subject and said,
"Wifey when are you going to unblock me?"
Yu Holea rolled her eyes,
"When my anger will fade or I have completely forgiven you."
Qiao Jun sighed and said softly,
"Baby I am truly sorry. I swear, next time I will never treat you as an object. I was wrong. I am sorry."
Yu Holea suppressed the corner of her lips and raised an eyebrow,
"Let me think for a few more days."
"Okay. Take your time. I will continue to apologize till then." Qiao Jun leaned down and pressed his forehead with Yu Holea’s.
After a while, Yu Holea pushed him away and said,
"Now if you are done, you should leave."
Qiao Jun shook his head with a doting expression and suddenly took out a few papers from thin air.
"Here."
Yu Holea looked at the paper with a questioning gaze, but Qiao Jun didn’t answer and only passed her the paper.
When Yu Holea opened the papers, she realized it was contracts.
Few were the contracts for endorsement of top international brands and few were scripts of top directors.
"Pick whichever you like. If possible sign them all. It would boost your fame and help you gain recognition."
Yu Holea was surprised, before passing back the papers,
"If you are thinking of bribing me with these resources so that I can forgive you...then you will be disappointed."
Qiao Jun’s expression changed and he said with a stern expression,
"No. They are not bribes. I know the mistake I committed was severe, and I don’t expect forgiveness just because I can offer you opportunities.
These contracts are yours because you deserve them, not because I want to make up for what I did."
Yu Holea tilted her head, narrowing her eyes slightly.
"Then why now? Why are you giving them to me suddenly?"
"Because I realized something important," Qiao Jun said, his voice sincere.
"You’ve been building your career on your own, and I admire that. I don’t want to hold you back—I want to help you move forward. These are just tools to showcase your talent to the world, nothing more."
Yu Holea studied his face, trying to find a trace of an ulterior motive, but all she could see was genuine care.
Her heart softened slightly, though she kept her expression neutral.
"Fine," she said, her tone measured as she placed the papers on the table.
"I’ll consider them. But only because they’re good opportunities, not because you brought them."
She wasn’t a pretentious person.
She could obtain such a contract on her own considering she owns a business that is now listed in the top 10 of the nation.
But the thought that Qiao Jun fought for the contracts for her, made her happy.
Qiao Jun smiled, the tension in his shoulders easing.
"That’s all I ask, Wifey."
Her eye twitched at the nickname, but she let it slide, knowing he wouldn’t stop even if she protested.
Instead, she crossed her arms and shifted the subject.
"Now, if you’re done playing the perfect husband, I really have to get going. I have dinner plans."
Qiao Jun’s smirk returned, playful yet teasing.
"You’re always in such a hurry to get away from me. Should I be jealous of whoever you’re meeting?"
"Don’t start," Yu Holea warned, though there was no real bite to her tone.
He held up his hands in mock surrender.
"Alright, alright. I won’t keep you." Then, stepping closer once more, he added in a softer voice, "But don’t forget, I’m always here if you need me."
Before she could respond, Qiao Jun leaned down and pressed a light kiss to her forehead, his lips lingering just long enough to make her heart skip a beat.
Then, with a final wink, he stepped back and disappeared into thin air, leaving only a faint trace of his cologne behind.
Yu Holea placed the contracts on the table and left.
Soon she reached the hotel and arrived outside the private room.
The moment she entered the room, she was surprised to see that all the lights were off. Her body tensed and she subconsciously thought of all the bad stuff that could happen.
The next second she felt a hand wrapping around her ankle.
Yu Holea took a step back hurriedly and threw an exorcism talisman at the hand.
Once the talisman made contact with the hand, a shout came from the room.
The sudden shout echoed through the dark room, and Yu Holea’s eyes narrowed.
She immediately activated the protective barrier of mystic energy around herself.
Her lips curved into a faint smirk.
"A bold ghost trying to grab my ankle? How original," she muttered under her breath, stepping further into the room with deliberate calmness.
From the shadows, an eerie figure began to emerge.
Its elongated fingers, which had failed to grip Yu Holea’s ankle, twitched violently.
The ghost’s pale, translucent face seemed twisted with frustration. Its hollow, glowing eyes locked onto Yu Holea.
"You dare throw a talisman at me?" the ghost hissed, its voice echoing unnaturally, as though it spoke from everywhere at once.
Yu Holea tilted her head and crossed her arms.
"You tried to grab my ankle. Rude much?"
The ghost recoiled at her indifference. "You... you’re not scared?"
"Of you? Nah," she said, walking toward the ghost leisurely as if it were an old acquaintance. She leaned slightly closer, peering at its ethereal form.
"Though, I must say, you’ve got a decent ghoul aesthetic going on. The whole shadowy vibe, twitching hands, glowing eyes—it’s a classic. Are you trying for ’Vintage Haunt 101’?"
The ghost paused, its glowing eyes dimming in confusion.
"Vintage... what?"
Yu Holea sighed and straightened up, brushing invisible dust off her sleeve.
"Never mind. Let’s cut to the chase. Who summoned you, and why are you trying to scare me?"
The ghost twitched violently at the name and let out a shrill, ear-splitting laugh. "Summoned me? No one summoned me! I am the spirit of vengeance! I was born to torment the living!"
"Uh-huh," Yu Holea replied, unimpressed.
"And your brilliant plan was to grab my ankle? Was this your first haunting or something?"
The ghost’s translucent form seemed to bristle with embarrassment.
"I... was building suspense!"
"Sure you were," Yu Holea said, rolling her eyes.
"Alright, buddy, I’ll make this easy for both of us. Tell me what you want before I banish you into oblivion. Or worse... make you watch cringe ghost movies."
The ghost gasped dramatically, its voice quivering. "You... you wouldn’t dare!"
"Oh, I dare," Yu Holea said with a sly grin, pulling out her phone and scrolling theatrically. "I have an entire playlist. Want to start with Killer Klowns From Outer Space."
The ghost’s translucent eyes flicked with irritation, rolling as if to say, Enough of this nonsense.
"Fine," it spat, clenching its twitchy, elongated fingers. "You’ve left me no choice but to show you the true extent of my power!"
Yu Holea yawned dramatically, covering her mouth with one hand while the other reached for another talisman from her pocket.
With a blood-curdling screech, the ghost lunged at her, its shadowy form twisting and expanding to engulf the room. Its hands morphed into sharp claws, swiping at Yu Holea with precision.
Except... she wasn’t there.
Effortlessly dodging to the side, Yu Holea smirked, casually tossing a talisman at the ghost’s torso mid-dodge. The paper stuck to the ghost’s chest, glowing bright gold.
"ARGHH!" the ghost howled, clutching at the talisman. Its form flickered and shrank back slightly.
"Pro tip: don’t leave your chest wide open during an attack. It’s basic battle strategy," Yu Holea quipped, already preparing another talisman.
The ghost growled, now visibly angrier. "You... insolent mortal! I will—"
"Blah, blah, blah," Yu Holea interrupted, flicking her wrist to hurl another talisman. It landed squarely on the ghost’s face.
The ghost froze mid-threat. Its hollow eyes crossed as it tried to look at the glowing paper now plastered across its forehead.
Yu Holea burst into laughter. "Oh, that’s a good look for you. Really pulls the whole ’vengeful spirit’ aesthetic together."
